It’s weird to think we look now live in a world where I can just play Final Fantasy 7 not even a downgraded mobile port just the same game on my phone
Not only that, the new iPhone will get full port AAA games like Assassins Creed and Death Stranding. In a decade, I can see smartphones able to do everything.
I still find those ports impressive, and yet here we are with *Resident Evil Village* and *Death Stranding* releasing on iOS. Absolutely mind-blowing.
You can even play a downgraded version of FF7 on your console and pc too!

That feeling of "feels weird playing a console game in a phone" is the exact same feeling i have with watching Scott full episodes in Scott's Snippets and not the main channel, but i still watch them because they're fucking amazing

I will never forget having SCOOPS on my iPhone in college. It was a very simple game that used the iPhone gyroscope to stack ice cream scoops on a cone. Sadly the developers never updated it and it's been lost to time.

My biggest problem with mobile gaming is the fact that you can't have tactile feedback from the buttons, so it's very easy to press something you don't want to press.
I want to point out that part of this is also how kids that have 3DS's don't always have phones. I had to play angry birds on the computer at home so it being on 3DS was so cool

Scott's childhood is a whole different universe for me (i was stuck with old pc, atari 2600 clone and game and watch clone for years, situation changed in only, like, 2011 or something)

It’s genuinely quite sometime since I’ve even touched a mobile game, guess my interest weighed more home console side of gaming.
I remember in 2004 , Nokia phones had games like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider ect in their game store to buy. I had never tried any of them but, they were there for a purchase.
I dig the mobile games that have Switch ports because 1 there's no MTX and 2 playing with actual controls is perfect for games that touted console quality gameplay i.e Implosion, Angry Shark , Geneon and so on.
Watching these back to back its insane how much Scott improved in the course of 2 years
Surprised Scott didn’t mention the lack of Sonic 3 and Knuckles on mobile. Officially at least. Fans made mobile versions of S3&K and they’re great.

I’ve been waiting for this compilation for a while. These were always some of my favourite episodes.
As far as i know the Asphalt series actually started as games for the Nokia N-Gage with Asphalt 1 and 2 released for it in 2004 and 2005. The port for NDS and the "advanced" port for PSP were afterthoughts if i recall it correctly. So Asphalt originally wasnt meant to be cheap or free.

I won’t forget when I bought the Sonic ports on my iPod touch without my parents permission because I memorized their Apple ID password then they woke me up the next day to ask me about the bill
rewatching console games on mobile makes me want Scott to revisit the topic from the perspective of controller support. There's the backbone now, which lets you use the phone like a switch
This is why I just use emulators and COD Mobile. Having a Bluetooth controller for games on my phone makes all the difference to me.
Back in 2012 I had a 3D screen phone, and some of the games in 3D were phenomenal. also, I loved how it turned all the videos in 3D without glasses. It was a gimmick that was a trend for a couple of years, for TVs as well, but I really liked it for a phone.
HTC Evo 4G 3D? My dad got that release month on Sprint. I remember him having me play the Gameloft Spider-Man and one of the Asphalt games to see how it ran 😂 The 3D pictures were a cool novelty too.
@@R3AL-AIM I can't remember the model or the brand. I believe it was a samsung but I am not sure. It was huge, and I loved it that way. Now I want small phones hehe. But yeah, all that 3D for the videos and pictures was really cool.

I remember getting Simpsons arcade on my blackberry for $1.99. Controls were nice and simple and touchscreen wasnt really a thing. I loved it.

GTA Vice City on iPad was the first gta game i ever played and it was pretty fantastic and rly the touchscreen controls worked just fine for it
The tv remote apps worked great! As long as you didnt have an iphone. I think all my old androids had ir blasters in them. I wish androids still had this feature.

Hey, i remember playing Dead Space mobile on my motorola, and that was an iconic game for us that didn't get to play the console version, had decent graphics, and a good story.
I love all of the fighting game conversions. I still play SF4 to this day on android. Shit's great.
San Andreas for 360 is a perfect example of this. It took me like a year to realize that's why it was so damn clunky.

I love Final Fantasy Tactics. Loved it on the PSX and loved it again on the PSP. When I saw it was on mobile (Android) I couldn't wait for a sale. I bought it on sale maybe 6 or 7 years ago and just can't find myself wanting to play it. I always install it when I get a new phone but never actually play it.
I remember trying stuff like Shantae: Risky's Revenge and Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed on my iPad.
Call of duty world at war zombies was my favorite mobile game of all time. My friends and would sit for hours playing that game via coop
I’m honestly surprised the *WiiU* didn’t get games released just for the touchscreen.
Imagine playing just with that… which’s what I legit thought the WiiU was at first. A mobile gaming tablet upgraded with a wii. Which honestly is a better idea than the WiiU which I wouldn’t be surprised if the switch got a tablet version at some point.
I’m glad that now we are getting bigger games on mobile again, that still have mobile in mind.
With how much more powerful phones have gotten now, like the iPhone 15 pro being able to run straight up RE4 and Village.

Tbh, I want more console ports to mobile or at least good Indy games, stardew valley did pretty good on mobile from what I can tell. Give us more stuff like that.

Honestly my favortie way to play console games on mobile was with a phablet/tablet and a Bluetooth controller but for actually convenient on the go gaming I'd actually enjoy, i would use MyBoy GBA emulator and stick with all of my childhood favorites i miss from the gba era. Its a single screen, naturally feels almost like a GBA SP when in portrait mode, and has well established titles made for that form factor. No analog buttons still sucked but if you were an iphone user you had the option of the gameboy case that had the analog buttons.
There's a reason that the mobile version of Sonic 4 Episode 1 is better on mobile.

Yeah still find it incredible how far technology has come through the years and how we take it for granted now pretty much I have a Samsung galaxy phone but for some reason it either randomly turns off or says it’s low on space I definitely use my iPad Pro more than my phone as it’s more reliable and stable easily one of my best and most used purchases I’ve ever brought
I really enjoyed the mobile GTA ports. Ive beaten them all on original hardware, switch rerelease and the mobile ports. I hate to say it but the touchscreen controls on the mobile ports actually pretty great. Id normally always prefer controller but touchscreen was pretty accurate.
Yeah just the ability to play it on the train meant I could plug more hours into San Andreas and I actually achieved 100% which would be impossible for me on console.

Capcom put monster hunter freedom unite in appstore’s and it was SO cool to have on mobile, but was so god awful trying to play with touch screen, especially with how tight the controls of the main series are
Mobile games are very complicated, but maybe you should have started your trip on memory lane on palm games, there was an app named roach, that showed a roach running on your screen every time that you turned on the device, I couldn't find it for mobile, I remember that the best apps were a port of a tactics game, I don't remember the name, palm bubbles, a basic puzzle game and the legandary sand, that one was ported to android.
I can remember talking with my friend in 1999 about how texting would never catch... we've come so far (good or bad) in 24 years
I loved pokemon quest for a long time and played it a lot. Then I got to a level on the switch where it looked like I just couldn't do it. The cursor would not move fast enough and I didn't think to try the touchscreen. I deleted the game and lost all progress
I still have Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike on my iPhone and they both still let me sign in to Xbox Live! And Angry Birds: Star Wars rocked

Back when i was a kid i always loved the idea of playing console games on the go i mean back than sure we had the 3ds or the ds those had great games but having an entire console experience on the go was the thing as a kid i wanted. But what i never wanted was mobile games on console which makes me questionif they wanted to do mobile gaming on consoles back than why not have it on the WiiU

As someone who owns a dedicated gaming phone with triggers, and has also owned a switch, a switch is only good for so much, thing cant even play movies, my phone play anything up to 360/ps3, mobile gaming has evolved so much then this video shows.

In my opinion the best phone gaming experience is emulators on Android. The DraStic DS emulator is great. Citra can emulate the 3DS pretty well. RetroArch is available.

I'm old enough to be one of the early SEGA Game Gear owner lucky boys (I feel lucky to have had one in 1993, it was pretty dope technology back then, even if it required 6 AA batteries) who was owed Sonic the Hedgehog on Game Gear when it hadn't yet come out! See, it came with an IOU promising that Sonic the Hedgehog would be sent if we filled out a card and sent it to SEGA of America. I also didn't have a Genesis, so until I earned one through mowing lawns, Game Gear was the only Sonic I had access to, so this was a tense 4-6 months. To which when it did come I was glued to the screen for weeks and it took no time at all to decide whether I wanted its sequel. It rocked. And then I got Streets of Rage, which is also very good on Game Gear (if you aren't used to the Genesis version already). See what I mean? Six AA batteries, though. Whew!
When smart phones came out, I was well into adulthood, so I skipped the smart phone gaming craze described here, *but then* I got into tablet emula.. I mean tablet gaming with a Bluetooth controller, so playing on a touchscreen is still like telling me to play video games by touching the television screen -- it's unthinkable. I don't like it. It's hard. I like using a controller, see.
So I'm watching this from right out of the sweet spot of having an outrageous amount of games to choose from on smart phones/tablet, but with a controller. It's silly that they even thought touchscreen gaming should exist. It's a bad idea that happened to have caught on.

Wow, I have very similar feelings to this, but I more so complain about games meant for iPhone being on iPad, mainly because mobile devs have the phone in mind only and just decided to either crop, stretch or fit the screen to the iPad
I still remember I have a crappy pc and I can't play dead space until they created dead space mobile. I spend a lot of hour playing the game on my lenovo phone along with soul calibur and metal slug 3
