New to the Ducati Diavel range for 2013 is the Strada.
It comes with a large windscreen, panniers and a back rest, turning this powerful machine into the ultimate sports cruiser.
After traveling 2,500miles from LA to Cabo and back in just 6 days, Jamie Robinson gave the Strada a serious road test and here MotoGeo brings you the lowdown.

You've got the right format of reviewing motorbikes.
The journey first witch make us dream, then the review of the bike with all the details.
    Great Job Jamie!

These really are the best motorcycle reviews on the internet. Entertaining but also very informative based on the fact that Jamie puts plenty of miles on the machine. Keep up the awesome work!

A like Jamie's review because they are not made based on 1 day riding.

Great Video, Which bike do you like better the multistrada or the diavel strada. And whats the pros and cons for them both. I would love to see a video comparing them both and even throw in the hyper strada and review the whole strada line

I'm buying a new bike this spring. The Strada would be in my top three except for one major thing. The lack of any diversity in tire choices. I don't expect it to be a dirt bike, but there are going to be areas on my travels where unpaved roads will be a problem if wet. Having the option of a wee bit more aggressive rear tires would be a game changer.

I bought my 2011 Diavel Carbon Black with 13,000 miles for $10,000 from dealership, over 2 years I put 2,000 miles on it and took it in for the 15k mile Desmo service, it was 2,200 labor and $600+ parts, just under $3,000. I decided to get 2 new tires, 2 new sprockets a new chain and a new battery, my service was over $4,000+ now.
During the service(they had it for 3 months) they discovered my wire harness was kinked by the forks and was repaired already but not successfully, it was routed too tightly by the factory and it kinked every time the bars moved, over time the wires started breaking down, they said it was $3,000 for a new harness, I have an extended warranty that covered that, thank God! Next they see the clutch slave cylinder leaking and need to replace that, then the gear position sensor was damaged when they did the slave cylinder, the warranty paid the bill for the harness and slave cylinder and gear sensor, over $4,000 for the warranty company to pay on top of my $4,000+, All together my $10,000 Diavel with 15,000 miles on it required $8,000+ to be serviced. $8,000 divided by 2,000 miles = $4 a mile just in servicing the bike.
If I add the bikes cost of $10,000 to the $8,000 + thats $18,000 divided by 2,000 miles = $9 per mile to date.
I have had it for sale on Craigslist for $10,000 all the way down to $8,500 and nobody has even come to look at it.
This is why you will see most Ducati's for sale with less than 15,000 miles on it and never serviced, the Desmo service with tires chain and sprockets and battery is $4,000+ and God forbid the wire harness needs replacement, If I had no extended warranty I would have had to pay over $8,000 to tune a $10,000 bike.
15,000 miles divided by $4,000 = $3.75 per mile for routine expected maintenance as the minimum expense you will encounter.

i prefel buy a normal diavel, add paniers and windscreen only for long road, that's all. I did more than 5000 kilometers on suzuki sv 650s to Paris from Tarifa ( south spain ) 26 days with 200 km per day at with more racing position, i think it's possible with diavel is more comfortable

no offense but why would you do that to yourself. if you want a ducati better prepare your pockets, owning any new ducati is throwing money away. most ducati owners sell them before the 30.000 mile maintenance procedure, cause that shit will cost you the price of a car, and it´s mandatory, if you ever want to sell the bike in the future and retain your ducati club bullshit. you cant´t work on them yourself either, it´s like you don´t actually own the bike, just the rights to use it and have the brand logo to show off. buy an old cagiva or ducati dual sport if you want an italian bike to travel with, i would stick to japanese myself or even a bmw, triumph or royal enfield

  • @Erikootje

really dude, about the touring abilities, are you for real?
    - 3:17: "safe secure". There is nothing safe about panniers that cant be locked
    - 3:20: "easy to remove". Again, how is that safe and secure?...
    - 3:41: "its like an armchair". How can you say that if there is no such thing on it...
Its a cool bike, but the touring abilities on this bike are joke, but thats no shame since its not a touring bike in the first place.
If you want to tour, you can, but dont try to make this a touring bike just because it has "panniers".
