Bob, you had the most beautiful smile while you were on Sesame Street and you were still smiling, even at 90… The kids and even their parents absolutely loved you! Rest in peace❤
I became a lifelong Bob McGrath fan when my parents and I would watch Sing Along With Mitch. Bob was very much loved here in Canada. I urge all of his fans to check out Wikipedia. Bob was honored many times for his charitable work on this side of the border. I am truly heartbroken to hear about his passing. I hope he knew how much he was loved, not only in the U.S. and Canada but also around the world. Sincere condolences to his friends, family, to all of those who were blessed to have worked with him and to those of us who knew him only through his contributions to the entertainment industry. By the way, I had a crush on him, too!
In memory of Bob "from Sesame Street" McGrath. 1932-2022. Was one of the original and long-running cast members starting at age 37 since Sesame Street's 1969 inception. The People that you Meet, when you're walking down the street, they're the People that you Meet, Eachhhh Dayyyy!!!!
There was a talk with Joan Ganz Cooney at the Museum of the Moving Image this past spring. Bob, Susan (Loretta Long) and Maria (Sonia Manzano) showed up as well and sat in the first two rows with their spouses. I sat in front of Bob and his wife, Ann. He's 80 years old, sweet as pie (he's like an American Michael Palin), and his wife is a doll. They've been married since 1958, she told me, and they still live in NJ. Such nice people. He was mobbed after the interview, and I mean MOBBED.
Thanks for sharing! We always seem like the most caring person in the world. It’s nice to know it wasn’t just him playing a part, but it was the way he really lived. I always thought so. Rest in sweet paradise, dear Bob❤
Ask people to name some of the most beloved entertainers of the last century and you will hear Dolly Parton, Betty White, Tom Hanks, Mr Rogers - and rightfully so. But why not Bob McGrath? Not just a beautiful singer and talented actor, but just a delightful fellow everywhere he went. I think we really took that for granted for all those years he was on Sesame Street. Rest in peace, Bob.
He shared this same reveal on "To Tell the Truth" (1966) (also here on youtube) . It was also wonderful. I also knew him from Sesame Street of course. His Japanese version of Danny Boy made me tear up. If he had sung it in English I would have bawled. (lol)
I grew up with his daughter and this morning, a day after he died at 90 (12-3-22), she sent this to me. HINT: Get some tissues: ua-cam.com/video/svrTowBO7Eg/v-deo.html

@@lindagutin7499 I wish the younger generations would seek out singers that truly could sing! No studio manipulation. No makeovers or elimination rounds. Just amazing singers going all the way back to the 20s through the years. I played a second of his Danny Boy and got chills.
Me three. Sorry, but Joe Feeney (I just LOVE the Irish) had an incredible voice. Amazingly as far as I know only he (and Susan) the only original actors left on Sesame Street. Now dear children, remember Sesame Street has been on since 1969.
Now that I've taken the time to hear it, not bad but (sorry) Joe Feeney still sang better. I STILL love the Irish. I once read that Bob McGrath has five daughters.

One of the first things I watched on UA-cam. Devastated. I was 2 when Sesame Street first aired and I loved Bob.
R.I.P. Bob. Thank you for making my childhood more brighter. Say Hello to Mr. Hooper for us

His accent is perfect! I'm a fluent speaker of Japanese and he did this beautifully.
Rest in peace, Bob.
Bob McGrath and Bill Cullen, two TV legends I grew up with in my early childhood, conversing with each other.
Both since passed. Sad. Much love though 🥰.
They’re conversing with each other again ❤

Another my childhood passes away!
I remember reading years ago about the then cast of Sesame Street and how he was quite famous in Japan.

I knew I recognized him, but it took a minute (and looking on IMDb) to figure out who he is. Sesame Street!

RIP 🙏 Bob McGrath 😢 and thank you for being part of my childhood.
His version of Home on the Range is a perfect imitation of a Japanese "enka" singer.
This is so precious. Bob was a great talent.

Thank you, Bob, for everything. You were my favourite on the Street.
I Met him when I was a baby.

I'm worried 😟 because bob might die
Yes, he did. But he will live on forever in our hearts.

Why couldn't Lawrence Welk have hired him instead of that joke Joe Feeney?
