The season 3 intro would’ve worked well as well
They've had some rough patches, but they gave us so much. Their amazing shows will be missed.
I feel bad for the people that were laid off, but I can’t imagine how Geoff and Gus feel right now. RT was their baby and it must suck to see it die like this. Burnie saw the writing on the wall years ago and jumped ship early

Of course it would have been. They arent bothering with the original content they want to push the current day agenda. Look at how well that is working for Marvel Studios.
This was a long time coming. RvB and RWBY were the only IP’s left that had even a little bit of recognition, and both are in death spirals. Death Battle has been great, but RWBY and RvB were the cash cows, and through piss poor writing decisions, a lack of respect for their audience and constant controversies behind the scenes, those cash cows went belly up. I feel bad for the low end guys like the artists and the backup VA’s, but the MAIN people? Miles, Kerry, Barbara, Arryn, etc? You reap what you sow.
Miles and Arryn aren't even with RT anymore. They both left years ago and are only involved as contractors for their roles in the animation department. I don't know if Kerry is still with them, but yeah, blame Barbara. She was one of the companies heads, even if not THE head, so she can reap what she sowed.

I remember that i watch the let's play bayonetta Monty Oum tell his story with Burnie Burns about work with Midway at the time before he join Roosterteeth. Monty Oum work on Haloid of Halo vs Metroid and he did Dead Fantasy of Dead or Alive vs Final Fantasy. I love Monty Oum's animation, so i keep his Leagecy in my heart, and check out the Roosterteeth let's play Bayonetta with Monty Oum and Burnie Burns on youtube

Man, this year has been terrible for long-standing, highly influential channels. Unfortunately, we all knew this was gonna happen. Its kinda crazy to think that Smosh was almost in the same boat a few years ago(when they got acquired by Defy Media). If anything, I hope any companies that deal with content creation can learn from this
With this (not so much in my case) and the passing away of Akira Toriyama, 2024 is starting to become a very sad year to be a geek.
Took about 10 years to finally die, IMO.
It also won't fully shut down till later on this year.

Can't say I didn't see it coming, but it still sucks. People are out of their jobs, years of content could be lost, and another relic of the internet gone. Feels bad but sonething had to give eventually.
Yeah when Machinima was shut down and all of that content was scrubbed that was complete crap. A lot of creators losing their work like that.

As a fellow fan of rt it hurts to see this as a day one watcher… However it was a long time coming
I’m not too bothered by what happens to RWBY, Red Vs Blue, Gen:LOCK, etc, but I’m more concerned about what happens to Death Battle, because I watch that show almost religiously
Shame it had to end on such a sour note with basically all of their content fallen from grace and paywalled in vain. Still, the good stuff is still good and we will always have it.

A lot of people are thinking it'll go to Crunchyroll since they did the Ice Queendom spinoff, and the full series so far is also on there.

@@deadpoolchimichangas7111 I think they saw the signs as well and are working to finish the series under crunchyroll in fact they even said that they wanted to put shift rwby to them as well, and I can see all if not most of the voice actors that have stuck with them to keep going as well.

If it gets saved I hope they de-canonize everything past season 3, and basically start over.
First signs of their downfall emerged with the release of Gen:Lock. That show crippled them and it did not make the needed returns. Couple that with lack of innovation, no new IPs/failed ones like Nomad of Nowhere, mismanagement, poor marketing; it was a mismash of multiple problems. Yes, the toxic work enviornment did play a role as well, but it was not the main/lead cause. Many more prevalent issues greatly overshadow what some of the RT doomsayers babbled about.
I feel for the 150+ people who got the rug pulled from under their feet and I hope they are seen for their talents and other companies flock to recruit them. RWBY has a chance, albeit not a big one, to be picked up by someone else. RWBY has a big following, this is true, but its a niche following and its audience has not expanded in a long time. I hope someone picks up RWBY and keeps the old crew with it. Like with Cody Rhodes, let them finish their story.

I actually liked Nomad of Nowhere man this sucks I waited several years for a second but gave up on the show
RWBY has been on the decline for a while. The writing has been consistently awful for 4-5 volumes now
corporate demands did them in. the push to over perform. i think even with RWBY, the only reason it kept going was because of executive meddling. "this makes up money, keep it going" otherwise i think it would have just died with Monty. same with RvB. Burnie's ending, while it has its flaws, was a good place to end things. but they were told to keep making them.

yeah, Achieivment hunter shut down months ago, with the remain members moving to Dog Bark. jack went to inside games, geoff basically took over the Lets Play channel and its expected to go independant. Gavin has slo-mo guys. jeremy and ray are fairly popular streamers, lindsey moved to vtubing. not sure about Gus, tho.
I didnt overly hate season 3 forward of RWBY, but i did stop watching at the finale of season 5(?) just for the fact that its no longer for free on YT.
Ppl were already panicking about what will happen to post season 2 RWBY after monty's passing. I was optimistic RT could somehow still pull it off.
And then i heard the ugly stuff happened.
And though not because of that, i stopped watching RWBY just because it isnt as easily accessible.
RWBY past V4 was a slow death spiral for the series, I mostly liked the direction it went and there were many good moments in V5- V8(I haven't bothered with 9). I think the way it was all executed was poor. most plot points felt rushed or out of place. My biggest grievances are with Adam and Ironwood for many reasons. They really should have spent a few more seasons slowly developing everything between the major events.

One of the Deathbattle animators, Devilartimis, made a public post about deathbattle going on indefinite hiatus, and Rwby is dead according to most of the news-YT channels that have been following RT and their controversies.

Hopefully this doesn’t cause too much trouble for the Projects or Death Battle.
I gave up on them after ScrewAttack fell apart. I was a g1 back in the day, even went to SGC 2010, was a waaay bigger SA fan than I was an RT fan, but I hadn't kept up with them for the couple years before they joined RT, maybe since about 2011. I initially thought it was awesome that they joined RT, at the time being too young to realize how business works, so I was a bit ignorant. Later on, once I realized that all went to shit, I think I internally blamed RT and just stopped watching after that, whether i was right or wrong, I just couldnt anymore. Even tho I'm sure they had their reasons for shuttering it, it hurt to see, SA was how I ever even learned about RvB in the first place so it stung to see.
Of course, and most importantly, I wish nothing but the best for all now former employees that got screwed over because of this news. I hope they all find new jobs where they can be happy and continue doing what they love. Along with all series finding new homes where they can continue. For me at least, I really hope RWBY and especially Death Battle can make it through. But only time will tell
I have mixed feelings about this. It is sad that they've been shut down after so long, but at the same time, maybe it's for the better, especially when it comes to RWBY. They made a lot of frustrating decisions on that show lately and maybe now, the show can go in the hands of new writers.

i grew up on achievement hunter in the hayday i was one of the ppl that just lost interest idk why i remember when Ray left i was a little just like nah im good i think the final nail in the coffin was the Ryan Haywood shit tbh i didnt even know of Rooster Teeth until a few years watching AH i love those dudes no matter what but as Thanos once said this was inevitable

it really came down to corporate greed. people want to try to inject politics into the discussion, but aside from in broad terms and how they are favorable to corporations and give them free reign, it really isn't about that at all. its pure BS free market business crap that killed them. and its been coming for a long time, ever since they were originally bought out, things started to change.
Ray leaving was really the first sign. he literally said he left because their corporate masters were forcing them to keep playing games he hated. they had no real creative freedom anymore. He had said they had wanted to try to do other things but kept getting told no, you have to do minecraft, and you have to do GTA, etc. even when they did other segments, like GO and VS, it was still often centered on those two properties alot of the time. While Michael, Jack, and geoff had said they didn't mind doing those game, they still understood Ray's point of view and agreed with him.
Geoff also commented quite a few times in various let plays how the culture had changed. how they seemed to spend more time in corporate meetings, then in actually creating content. it stopped being fun and creative. they were under pressure all the time, having to worry about metrics and stats and crap they hadn't bothered with before.
this is sadly another case of corporations destroying something creativity driven.
Yep the corporations buying up these online groups/YT channels dont understand the culture of how they work. On the SideScrollers podcast with Stuttering Craig he was talking about how with all the politics that was forced on them it took like 9 months to get a t-shirt signed off on and by that time people forgot about the silly meme that was started in the first place. I understand that they see a popular game gets views but if their viewers are there to watch something else then it wont work.
Then on top of that you have sexual harassment claims and Leftists that come in to be loud. The Leftist blowhards are showing how disruptive and damaging they are to companies and businesses.

Since the annoying second part of volume 3 of RWBY i just watched Rwby out of the usual "well i started this might as well finish it" even through i did like volume 6 the rest was just... incredibly stale the world was rotating and the protagonists just fell behind
Red vs Blue was fun and Gen Lock was surprisingly enjoyable Rwby Chibi was fun to watch.
All in all i am more surprised it didn't happen sooner really

Red vs Blue was a big part of my early teens. Still love the earlier seasons and always will. Not sad to see RoosterTeeth shut down, though. Go woke go broke.
I mean with all the stuff coming out about the internals they obviously didn't "go woke" what with just hiring colors for the fact they were poc and because they were related to bigger named actors. Especially with HR just obviously ignoring any claims that were brought to them

I will miss Rooster Teeth, but I hope that Warner Bros is responsible with the main projects. I don't like it when the whole cast of a show is replaced, or when they go in an entirely different direction than what the show was. I will also miss many things like Achievement Hunter or Off Topic, but I know we can't do anything now. RIP Rooster Teeth :,(
I doubt most people that were in AH will miss AH all that much, I mean look at how Ray and Matt are doing now a days, if anything they're happier not to be tied down to AH.

Lot of conflicting feelings here. On one hand I'm not going to pretend I'm surprised- because that would be a lie, but I am still sad to see the inevitable finally happen.
Watching the community I joined when I was 8 years old slowly decay has been pretty demoralizing. Rooster Teeth, AH, Let's Play, they all shaped my sense of humor, and even my vocabulary to this day. Michael especially. Even though I stopped watching them regularly ~2017 or 2018, it is absolutely tragic to see them be gone for good. My first video before regularly watching them was the Stroyent Man video from 15 years ago, and my last video before no longer regularly watching them was Let's Play Minecraft - Episode 302, the Sky Factory finale.
It's sad to see the final bastion of my favorite childhood gaming channels be swept away to time. The Yogscast, The Creatures, Cowchop, and now Rooster Teeth. I hope they move on to do great things, and I wish the talent, as well as those who worked behind the scenes all the best. They helped me through a large portion of my life.
Sad to hear but not really a shock to me I stopped watching there stuff years ago due to many factors but thankfully I’ve still got seasons 1-15 of Red vs Blue, 1-4 of RWBY as well as a few other shows of there’s on DVD.
There unhinged and witty sense of humour especially in the first 5 seasons of RvB was very hard to beat and had me in stitches the whole time.

Red vs Blue was a big part of my early teens. Still love the earlier seasons and always will. Not sad to see RoosterTeeth shut down, though. Go woke go broke.
