You should have walked from Eel Pie to Richmond!
The riverside walk is beautiful. It takes about 30-40 minutes (~2mile/3km), mostly car-free and right at the water;s edge with penty of benches for a rest. There are two of London's best pubs, both called the White Swan, one at each end of the walk. Well worth a special day out, especially on a Sunday with an excellent pub roast at the end.
