the parisian metro is the playground of pickpockets, as locals, we are always on the alert when taking the metro, it has become automatic unfortunately, do not hesitate to file a complaint with the police. often thieves are arrested and items are returned. enjoy your stay :)

So sorry about your phone Birta! I was in a similar situation when I went to Paris with my bf, we sat outdoors to eat lunch with our backpacks. I left mine on a chair beside me. Someone was eyeing us for a long time (we only realized later, funnily enough we took photos of ourselves and he was in the background 🥲) and tried to steal my backpack. We were just enjoying ourselves, but all of a sudden we turn around to see that the chair next to me was empty! The guy had taken the bag and started to walk away, but thankfully my bf realized and ran after him, we managed to get it back. France is beautiful but one must be careful! I live in Italy and it's the same over here, I recommend people to be extra aware of their surroundings, because even as a local I got my phone stolen on public transportation. Be safe everyone!

It's something that I am still getting used to because growing up in Iceland a person never has to think about things like this. Whenever I travel to bigger cities in Europe I am reminded of how I sometimes take for granted how safe it is where I live on a daily basis. For example when I was in Paris I was a control freak every time we got on the metro - I clanked on all my belongings like a crazy person 😅 I never think about doing that where I live. It sucks that we have to be so cautious, and tourists often get targeted. Trying to blend in on the metro and not drawing too much attention can definitely help, but it's frustrating to even have to think about it.

Oh Birta. I’m so sorry about your phone! That is such an unsettling feeling. I’m actually in Copenhagen at the moment (hello 👋🏼)… We went on a small tour of the wooden giants (not sure if you know about them) and the vehicle we were traveling in on the tour had a window smashed in… Apparently this is so rare here… They clearly rummaged through out things but didn’t take anything. The rest of your trip looks super wonderful!! Hope you enjoyed ❤ also, my husband and I went to Fabro the restaurant because I saved it from one of your past videos. It was fantastic!!! 🤤 also been loving the thrift stores as well.

I am SO sorry your phone was stolen. Pickpockets on the Metro are awful-when I was there last month, they actually made announcements when there was a pickpocket on the train. I was shocked and amazed. Also - I love that you were in the 10th which is my favorite arrondissement.

As a Parisian, I’m sooo sad you had to go through this experience while being in my city 🥲 in general, pickpockets know how to spot tourists and often target them… I take the metro every day and never had a problem, maybe because I’m so used to being very careful ! But anyway i really hope this did not stop you from enjoying your trip, the video is sooo cool and i loved everything you wore in it 🫶 hope you will be back soon :)

I am SO sorry your phone was stolen. Pickpockets on the Metro are awful-when I was there last month, they actually made announcements when there was a pickpocket on the train. I was shocked and amazed. Also - I love that you were in the 10th which is my favorite arrondissement.

Ahhhh so annoying and frustrating! It’s the worst when people steal your things, feels like a nightmare, like if you were still dreaming and it’s not real! But yeah even if it sucks, you always have to be careful . But the trip looks amazing and it’s so cool that you get to travel with your bffs 👯♂️

As a Parisian, I’m sooo sad you had to go through this experience while being in my city 🥲 in general, pickpockets know how to spot tourists and often target them… I take the metro every day and never had a problem, maybe because I’m so used to being very careful !
