Maybe it leaves lots of space on your side to make getting out of the car more convenient for you. What happens if the passenger side is also occupied?
Seeing this makes me not feel like I missing out. I ordered a Q5 Sportback prestige that comes with this feature, but unfortunately I live in NY and it won’t work here because of some law. I’ll have to travel out of state to try it out. Nice car by the way, I ordered the Same color.
My S5 has the same option. Having the cameras on the car is good enough for me to assist in parking. I tried the feature shortly after delivery, I almost curbed my wheels😬
Don’t always get to watch but, when I do, I really like your content and your presentation - well done to you and it’s great to see someone who is appreciative of their car. I have a 2021 Audi S5 coupe - love the car and the drive BUT the electronics are pretty flaky. I have found the active cruise, lane assist and parking are not to be trusted. You could easily wind up in an accident. Maybe the risk of collision is the optional fun pack that Audi provides but is undisclosed. 😂
I just bought a used 2018 S5 Prestige and I cannot get the self parking feature to work. After I pull up to a parking area that has some open slots I press the button to activate the self parking feature. The display says check surroundings and shows a picture of my car, but that’s it if I move it still says check surroundings it never tells me to do anything else. Any ideas?
Super weird. I still haven't even tried park assist in my S4. In the first few attempts it's almost like it was treating that other car as the "curb" in a parallel parking situation. It's gotta sense that it's going between two cars though, right? In my two months in my car, I feel like the only useful driver assist thing I've used is traffic jam assist which is very nice. It does brake kinda hard sometimes though. Maybe I just need to dial in the distance to the car in front
The system is clearly made for European parking spots and not American airstrips. Using it almost on a daily basis in the Netherlands. Perfect every try.
Parking spaces in the US are huge compared to European ones. As it's detecting only one side it's saying it's right to get out. Perhaps for a European car park.
Im assuming its parking so close to the passenger side because at least for me parking spots are just never that wide wherever I go in my area. It probably has a pre-programmed maximum for how wide it can park or something of the sort.
Yeah that’s a good point However, when I tried it in the underground parking garage it was closer to the driver side. So I’m not 100% sure how it’s determining it.
Hmmm, this is disappointing. My wife is a new driver and I am looking at the S5 Cabrio because the mean profile is awesome. The auto-park feature is a must so seeing this video is kind of depressing. I hope you reported this to Audi.
I used this feature once in mine and decided that it wasn't worth the trouble or worry. Was a nail-biting moment! :D
Yeah I tried it and was nervous too! And if you just lightly tap the breaks it slams them on. For now I don't trust it.

My wife's Q7 seemed to do a better job of centering in the space.

It's probably prioritizing more room for the driver to exit. Does it still do that if someone is sitting in the passenger seat I wonder?

The parallel parking feature seems to work better more consistently but yeah perpendicular seems to have issues and no I did not report it.
