Great to see you on a new channel mate. Always loved your videos! The "luxury" ute concept is lost on me. Just creating a niche that didn't need to exist. Reminds me of when the first Merc CLS came out lol

That's why there's a 12 month wait list to get one

This one is going to kill Vw Amarok sales especially the top of the range Aventura

    Bret great review.
I had the 1st gen Everest which had the 3.2L 5cyl 6-speed torque converter and full time AWD.
If anything counts the 5cyl had too much torque down low that Ford had to torque limit 1st and 2nd gear, also the final drive was 3.73:1 basically you had to wait till 3rd gear to start getting max value from engine.

      Thanks mate.
That’s interesting. I guess it is 200cc larger as well - I think the 3.2 is even found in some trains in the UK.

Is the engine of this car a timing belt or a timing chain?

It's nice but the Wildtrack would be my choice

Long term that engine is giving grief. First released in 2002 with updates, but NONE addressed the undersized oil galleries to and in the crank.
VW will regret using this over its own.

It's a bloody nice ute tbh, and has a bit less of the road raging Ranger wanker about it - but geez that's a lot of gears...

lol Yeah Ranger wankers are getting bad.

PD owners were no longer supporting us, sadly. I was aiming to do a farewell video but they wouldn’t allow it.

Interesting how low this engine revs, the VW equivalents happily go over 4000rpm.

yeah seems a bit weird to me - often redlining is NOT the way to get the fastest time but I am pretty sure 3500 isn't enough to get the best acceleration. And let's face it - 8.25 to 100 makes a Corolla Hybrid look speedy!

@@jonathongellibrand3632 I think 8 -ish seconds is ok for a light truck with the handling characteristics of a cinder block, though it's certainly not 'fast' like most ranger owners will suggest

So why is it the first question you have to ask yourself?

    • @drivingenthusiastaustralia
      @drivingenthusiastaustralia  5 місяців тому +4

Because if you don't need or are not going to use the rear tray area then you might be better off with the Everest (or another SUV). SUVs usually have better suspension, bringing superior driving dynamics and more comfort. They also offer a useable boot area for weekly shopping etc.
      Hope that helps.

I understand your reply but I still do not see , as you stated "The first question you have to ask yourself". I would see it more of what you actually like, It is a bit different than looking for a product to clean your car as to which product is best for your task. I have a motorbike which has reached over the national speed limit by 2.5timesI bought this because I like it not because I can get around easily and cheaply.@@drivingenthusiastaustralia
