Crazy that you’re the only guy on UA-cam that’s done a deep dive like this

I'm in the beginning of my Analog journey. Just bought a EL8X for a good deal. Next I'm grabbing the BAE 1073MPF, and Golden Age Comp3a. These will be my vocal chain. I'll eventually buy a Neve Portico II to polish off my tracks. This is my way of getting the most out of a hybrid setup without having a wall full of gear.

i used to live a mile from Redco before i relocated to the midwest from CT. it was like a candy store, but much more dangerous, lol. amazing folks selling amazing supplies at amazing prices. i wired my studio myself and saved a TONNE over premade cables, and my Redco bantam patch bay is the nerve centre of my rig. i'm so glad you mentioned Redco as they truly are a secret weapon.

Damn Barry! I finally understand this shit. You're a great teacher and you break it down so nicely.

Great video! I finally get why you don’t put inputs and outputs directly over each other in a patch bay. Thanks, Barry!

I've been waiting for this video since getting the Voice Channel. I've been wanting to use my raw vocals previously recorded prior to purchase. As always Barry, right on time! Thanks.

On the topic of committing through hardware while tracking, I have found that I get better results that are non-destructive to the original capture by using an interface like the Cranborne 500R8 where you can set up your channel strip where each of the elements of that strip lives on a separate slot on the interface and can either be patched together by its built-in switching, or cabled on the backside in your desired manner. That way my original source signal can be captured unadulterated, as well as being able to capture how the signal is being affected at each point and at the end of the chain. That way, changes can be made anywhere along the way, either during setup for tracking by monitoring each stage of the channel strip, or later when mixing by sending one or more of the recorded elements of that signal back through the appropriate portions of the channel strip for optimization.

This was great, been looking at a couple of Audioscape G buss comps per your suggestion. I’m about to get my Tascam Model 24 this week and am lining up the hardware purchases for next month. I have a LA-610 so was thinking of adding on the WA-73 to fill that rack cube (SKB 4U) and getting a 6U for mixing, with the Audioscape G Buss and two WA-EQPs. One cube for tracking the other for mixing down. I’m mixing down to my Dp-03 which has mastering functionality and lets me transfer the final wave file to my phone.

Hey Barry I’ve been watching your channel for a while now and I gotta say you’re pretty funny and right on point so , I was wondering if you would do a refresher on how to wire up everything using maybe one patchbay with a basic set up like a comp pultec and verb or just a 500 channel strip.

I dont own and hardware analog mixing gear, but I recently subscribed to some analog streaming services like mix analog and access analog - and honestly after extensive use and lots of testing I walked away with the impression that my plugins are super amazing
