I am from Norway, and enjoy high quality professional cross country skiing on television. This is amateurs trying their best. I resent that you are mocking them! Stop it! They are trying their best, you should offer them a training course on how to improve or shut up. This is respectfully my opinion. Have a great time during world championships in Oberstdorf.
I absolutly agree. For me it is always a pure joy to see pure amateurs try their best competing with the top of the sport. And not only in Cross-Country, but also in Alpine Skiing. It is impressiv to see the bravery there, going down slopes a regular wouldnt even dare to!
The FIS is helping some bad governments launder money through this type of thing. For example, the 3 Lebanese girls come from private universities (thank you, Facebook) and live in Lebanon's biggest ski resort. They're NOT new to snow or XC skiing.
I'm Norwegian and it's no secret that we dominate in Nordic skiing, but I also believe in giving other nations the opportunity to participate in this beautiful sport whether they're from Tanzania, Lebanon or Colombia.
It's a matter of TRYING, of knowing what you're doing, of at least being young, athletic and tired at the finish and that kind of stuff - I didn't mock most of the girls in the competition, just the ones that were too old, unskilled or just lazy
The Chanloung siblings actually were born and raised in Northern Italy and then since they have dual citizenship decided to represent Thailand so you would expect them to be decent.
It is funny how they skii yes, but the way you are mocking them is like a 12year old who recently won your first local competition and now think you should be skiing at the world champs..no need to mock them like you are doing. This is just people living their dreams and judging by the video yourself probably have been mocked a lot in your life. Or your ego is just too big
Well, I've seen much worse. This is qualifications so you are going to see some randoms with no chance just enjoying their shot, and good for them. You know what you are getting when you watch this.
You can teach someone decent XC skiing in like 2-3 days. I never mocked people with sloppy technique, I mocked people with no technique at all. Also, some of the women here are clearly unfit too. There're 0 excuses good enough for showing up to a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP while not being fit for 15 minutes of exercise.
@@DanArnets1492 No, you're being a bully. You're mocking people from the safety of your own couch. Try doing something positive or uplifting, instead of making fun of people who are out there living their dream. This is a classless video, plain and simple.
@@martinsundland7614 - I didn't propose anything revolutionary, I only asked for entrants to be fit and then train technique for a week. I even praised some of the "colorful" entries too (Jacqueline did great for being 45 and the Thai girl was almost as fast as a 102% biathlete)!
Don't try and make any excuses, that's pathetic. You're looking for people to shit on, plain and simple. Just admit it, and save us the trouble. Yes, your goal is trying to find easy targets and score cheap points. Wow, what an amazing job, such a great, white knight you are. Hope you're proud of yourself.
Most of them have plenty of experience on rollerskis for example, but it's harder on snow, of course. There are definitely athletes here who are competitive though, as I'm sure the poster knows (not competitive in the sense of medal-winning, but in the sense of being decent skiers), which are mixed in with an entirely different level. Jaqueline Mourão for example is very much a decent skier, and not in any way or shape close to the likes of Adrian Solano, which is an entirely different story altogether. Baiba Bendika was in this very race as well, one of the faster-level skiers in the biathlon World Cup for years, and won by under half a minute. A country like Lebanon won't have a very deep women's team of course. They've got four spots for this race, like every country, and have been using it to slowly increase interest in the sport in their country.
Look, this is a qualifier for the real world championship races that year. Because it is a world championship, any country can send someone to try and qualify. Pretty much the same thing happens in the Olympics. So stop making fun of these people. They are actually paying homage to a sport that fascinates them and they want to try. A lot of us may just be jealous because we never had the chance, because we come from countries with many skiers of higher abilities than us.
How do I say this politely Dan, no wait a minute you showed no politeness, ...i can't say what I want to and maintain my dignity. Many of these girls don't have any advantages for skiing like you most likely do and I'll bet several of these chicks would kick your butt. I personally know one of them and in their war torn country in which they train it has ZERO xc ski trails. She drives up to 4,000m elevation and skis back and forth on an Alpine ski area cat track. I'd like to see you endure that kind of training and still stay motivated. And finally for your info, FIS supports their participation because it furthers the cause of international skiing and brings more interest and hopefully more participation from some of these developing nations.
If you gave a damn, a real one, you would've checked the comments and would've read how a few girls are actually rather rich and some are both rich and live in ski resorts. Of course I'm gonna mock some rich girl looking for a couple of Instagram posts!
I wouldn't mind bad skiing but being strong and stuff OR good skiing while being weak... but WTF is going on with superyoung skiers, old skiers and people outright NOT trying?
Adrián at least was fit, he was some sort of "speed rollerskater" but I've read he hated snow and only practiced for the 2 days before the Worlds. Raquel Sukkar is outright lazy and that's a bigger sin.
@@knutg3379 Yeah, i agree, i just thought it was little funny if she bought it from own money. Because since norway is so big in the skiing world that you could reference it to people buying clothes etc. with the american flag printed on just because its american

Was it a special Battle of the Minor Countries? Except Latvia. Latvia puts a couple skiers in the big leagues all the time.
