Here are 7 combat oriented tips people should be aware of:1. High stance and strong attacks do a lot of stamina damage, and are good for breaking your enemy's guard when they are blocking.2. Use high stance on slow enemies (because you can afford to be slow and the extra damage helps), and low stance against fast enemies (when you need something to keep up with their speed).3. Certain classes of weapons benefit more from certain stances. For example, axes/hammers are amazing in high stance because of all the damage and stamina drain they inflict. Just play slow and pick your openings, you'll tale them out in 2-3 good swings.4. A lot of enemys - especially the big ones - take extra damage and lose a lot of stamina when you hit them in the head. Space them out from the front when you can instead of circling behind them like you would in dark souls.5. Learn when it's worth ki pulsing and when it is not. Performing a ki pulse is not instantaneous, and if you do it when the enemy is about to swing your going to get smacked.6. Axes/hammers, spears, and any else with a lot of range are prime weapons. Axes/hammers hit so hard you'll kill anything before it can fight back and long range weapons let you cheese most things at a distance.7. Certain spells (in the beta, so I don't know if this is still applicable) are really op. Damage spells aren't anything special, but certain status effect spell you can inflict on your enemies are amazing. The slow spell is especially useful on fast bosses, making them much more manageable.
- Enemy/stage/combat design from SoulsBourne - Loot system from Diablo. - Combo system from Ninja Gaiden. - Historical settings from Onimusha. 4 of my favorite games in one lol.
One thing I learned and love is that your amrita in the HUD turns yellow when you can level up - and I like that the amrita needed to level up is always a logical amount, ie 1000, 1500, 2000 instead of the from software souls/echoes required to level up which are always random amounts.
Hey great tips video! It would have been good to mention that ki pulses and ninjutsu are really effective against yokai though. Ki pulses dispels the yokai realm which drains your stamina and using ninjutsu like kunai drains a yokai's stamina exhausting them and allowing for an easier kill.
One thing I found in my prior playthrough that was paramount: when the yokai you're fighting has their stamina depleted, every attack stuns them. Go balls to the wall. Otherwise, it's very rarely worth it to completely deplete your stamina on an enemy as it can easily result in death.
You forgot about its Diablo style randomized stats/color coated loot system. It also has a Destiny style Nightfall system where certain missions are available in ultra hard with new enemy placements and enhanced loot but they rotate after a few days
One complaint: Multiplayer sucks. I don't know if it's gonna be like this in the real game. But in the Demo, when you 'visit' other's world, you can not choose where to be summoned. Unlike in Souls game, you put down your sign right where you want. If you just want to help other player defeating the boss, sometime you are summoned at the start of the map, follow the host around for 30mins, and then when you reach the boss room, he get two-hits-kill from boss, and you are sent away... feeling unaccomplished.
No. Because all those rewards for me is not that important. I just want the fun of teaming up with other players to defeat an even harder boss. The co-op experience itself is my reward. I do like helping the hosts getting through the level as well, but what if I just want to help with boss? In this regard, Dark Souls did it better, because the summon sigh system allow you to choose where exactly you want to play co-op.
I've started the game like two weeks ago! Two Pro tips as a non Pro player.. 01: Get the Complete Edition it has a fairly good gear both armor & weapons! And it will help you get through the start of the game. I beaten the fourth boss of the first region, and I'm still using upgrading some parts of the armor set! And the complete edition comes with extra content too so it's pretty good! Second tip: don't hurry don't rush forward through the game the slower you play the better you become the frustration is less the game becomes more enjoyable! I've played almost every day 1-2 hours past two weeks I'm still at the last mission of the first region! The ship is available to move to next region but I'm not going anywhere without exploring that last mission! 😊
I'm glad I'm getting another chance to try this game this weekend. I missed the first beta/demo so I'm looking forward to this. I haven't played a souls game since the first Dark Souls, so it's going to be rough.
Alireza M I fell in love with the beta, and was content with just playing it. I had a lot of fun with it. It was frustrating until I got a hang of the controls, and after that they demons had something to fear!! lol
Ninja Gaiden/especially Ninja Gaiden II on hard-mode... Stupidly difficult. I can imagine Team Ninja have taken their collective experience and balanced all of that with this new release, and I cannot wait to play the full game.
The problem i found with the Ki recovery thing is this. In order to get the most Ki back, you have to actually wait a split second, which i found a bit counter productive to the high speed of the gameplay. I only played the last chance trial though so I didn't get much time on with it.
Pros: If your a fan of Bloodborne or Darksouls franchise this game is for you. Pros: As realistic as it can be when welding a weapon other than a firearm in combat; taking into account your skills and timing of each blow will deplete your "Ki". Pros: Online summon support for adventuring so you don't have to solo. (Great for Leaching) Cons: "Repetitiveness" If you died, get ready to go at it again and again from where your last prayer (Shrine). Cons: Some not all, but some level designs are narrow and not enough room to dodge. Cons: "Menu play" Get Ready to spend a shet load of time configuring your character. i.e. weapons, swords, armor. A lot of fun eh?... Final Thought: The question is "How much is your time worth to you?" (So you and ex wife divorce, you can't turn back time and fix it can you?) How long does it take you to order a meal at McDonalds? (Menu Play) and finally "How much of your hard earned $$$$ are you willing to spend, I'll leave that up to you. Good Luck Gamers!
One last thing, if anyone has had trouble on the doppelganger/mimic chests, just unequip all of your weapons before opening any big chests (I doubt they will ever be in smaller chests, but who knows). When the Shroom demon appears, get a good distance and re-equip your weapons, your doppelganger will have anything equipped that you did when you opened the chest, which will make the fight a lot easier. Hell, go all out and make him naked if you want lol
I always thought this game would not come close to what i find good about souls games , but a few months ago i tried it and can't put it down . it beat all the soulsborne games for me.
'sadly' Pvp isn't really pvp, You just fight dead players corpses. Though apparently we will be getting a pvp "mode" Later on down the line as a free update. There is No pvp on launch :/
if they ditched the stamina and stance crap I would've gotten this day one. been watching out for this game since the ps3 and this is a real kick in the nuts to see it become a souls clone. was hoping for a spiritual successor to onimusha since crapcom would rather waste time and money on resident evil competitive shooters.
0:31 it's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time it's tricky it's tricky tricky tricky tricky it's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time it's tricky tricky tricky tricky
fact 9 everyone will tell you to use your chi recovery INCLUDING THE GAME WILL YOU ALL PLEASE STOP MENTIONING THIS ITS VERY WELL COVERED WITHIN THE GAME
It was the first thing I noticed. I hope the final build addresses this "problem". Maybe he didn't have HDR mode enabled? I don't know but the lighting truly sucks on this build.
Mark Chavez the lighting was weird in the final demo I played yesterday. Things looked foggy though it wasn't intended to look foggy. As if somebody put a semi-transparent white paper over the screen.
I beat Tenchu, Ominusha, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Bloodborne, Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1,2,3. I am worried for this game. The last good game Team Ninja created was Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 were terrible. Environments remind me of Shadow Warrior, which I did not like. Combat is not as good as it was in Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I want this game to be good, but I am very cautious. I won't preorder this based on the fact that the last amazing game Team Ninja created was Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which I played in 2007. I cant forget how terrible Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 were. Ominusha was created by Capcom. Team Ninja has not produced a good Ninja Gaiden game since 2007. Look it up on Wikipedia, all of their subsequent Ninja Gaiden games (and there were a lot of them) were trash. Team Ninja is not From Software. From Software produced excellent Dark Souls games. From Software has a stellar record of producing great games, Team Ninja does not. I want to play a demo of Nioh before I spend my money on it.
Well it had a Beta with 20 plus hours of gameplay and most people say it was fantastic. My favorite reviewers over on EZA thought it could have easily been in the action game of the year discussion despite it not even being a released game. So it's looking pretty good so far
Apparently not. i swear I will never understand these japanese companies. "We are porting our entire portfolio on PC right now. But you know what? We have this new title, Nioh, it's basically our clone of the best selling japanese game on Steam... I think we should make that one specifically a PS4 exclusive!". Well, makes sense.
You'd be surprised at just how many people (usually self-proclaimed Dark Souls Masters) completely and utterly forget that the Stances Matter and that the Ki Pulse/Flow exists at all.
One last thing, if anyone has had trouble on the doppelganger/mimic chests, just unequip all of your weapons before opening any big chests (I doubt they will ever be in smaller chests, but who knows). Fact 8 you play as samurai geralt
Kilian Rankin who is geralt?
character in nioh is based off of William Adams. He was first British navigator to reach Japan in early 1600s
And he is named William Adams in the game as well.
SuaatanaTube I was not aware of that. neato
Too bad he looks like geralt.
Because thats exactly what he looks like./
#8 - If patience and perseverance aren't traits you possess, you will throw this game, your controller, your console, and your cat through the window.
footthumb And quite possibly your tv too.
And your cat...lol.
umi bozu :(
Fire mask > Umi Bozu
"Japanese folklore is pretty creepy". Yeah, such a great and insightful "tip". This will make the game much easier.
how do his graphics look so good? On my ps4 pro it looks trash
@@kinghoola4926 High end PC?
Lmao
Looks more like bloodborne than dark souls, and that a good thing for me.
I would love a HD remaster of Onimusha series!
Logen M dude!!! I hope a bloodbourne 2 is announced at e3 this June..
- Enemy/stage/combat design from SoulsBourne
- Loot system from Diablo.
- Combo system from Ninja Gaiden.
- Historical settings from Onimusha.
4 of my favorite games in one lol.
Souls games also have beautiful music
Big Boss you're not alone brother, bloodborne has one of the best ost ever
Big Boss I'm the same way dark souls is my favorite in the series, demons souls had and absolutely beautiful and atmospheric soundtrack as well
My favorite is the final boss of Dark Souls 3 simply bone chilling piano chords
+budemawa That song... Listening to that transition from the final boss' music to Gwin's soundtrack was superb
Instantly brought a tear to my eye

I have really high hopes for this game
Loving the look of this - a cross between Dark Souls, Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden. If it's anywhere near any of those I should like it.
You forgot about its Diablo style randomized stats/color coated loot system. It also has a Destiny style Nightfall system where certain missions are available in ultra hard with new enemy placements and enhanced loot but they rotate after a few days
Onimusha
Changing stances while recovering Ki is very helpful i found!
One complaint: Multiplayer sucks.

You still get your cup the second you are summoned, and you get loot and amrita the whole mission so.... its fine don't you think?
No. Because all those rewards for me is not that important.

I sadly have the ocd of exploring everywhere so find ways around to progress is out for me unless they are way higher level lol
Spotted a Kusarigama! Sweet!!
I've started the game like two weeks ago!

Tip number 7: the soundtrack is amazing.
Thanks, that really helped
(Kappa)
I'm glad I'm getting another chance to try this game this weekend. I missed the first beta/demo so I'm looking forward to this. I haven't played a souls game since the first Dark Souls, so it's going to be rough.
since when a soundtrack of a game is a tips?
Also when he mentioned the Japanese Folklore, I don't know how that was a tip either
Please be good! I need more souls-esque games ;_;
You can try the Demo on PSN this weekend.
I actually thought they dealt the correct amount of damage in each situation
Cannot wait to play it!
how is the soundtrack a tip

Practiti0ner there is a skill that allows you to recover ki by simply dodging.
Nioh: the little bit different yokai-watch game
Close. The Kappa can pull a person's soul out of there butt hole. Look it up.
Such charming folklore...
Nice one, Johnny. Great video.
"7 tips" "2. Nioh is Japanese folklore"

Fact 8
pressing triangle on an enemy with no stamina or on an enemy on the ground will do massive damage to them
this includes yokai
You never locked on to the enemy.
I used to play a game called sinjid this reminds me of it alot.
I can't wait
One last thing, if anyone has had trouble on the doppelganger/mimic chests, just unequip all of your weapons before opening any big chests (I doubt they will ever be in smaller chests, but who knows). 7 tips to get you started in Nioh - cool soundtrack.
Okay, I guess, that should help...
Can you guys make a video of changes made from the last BETA to the final game?
I wish this game was planned to be a multiplatform, i'd totally love to play it with a mouse and keyboard :(
couldn't beat the original demo but still buying it.
Watheverable GRAMPS nooooooo!!!!!!! First playthrough alone!
I always thought this game would not come close to what i find good about souls games , but a few months ago i tried it and can't put it down . it beat all the soulsborne games for me.
im interested very much in the loot and pvp system
'sadly' Pvp isn't really pvp, You just fight dead players corpses. Though apparently we will be getting a pvp "mode" Later on down the line as a free update. There is No pvp on launch :/
I think you forgot nioh is a RPG and that if you grind for hours and difficult boss becomes child's play
if they ditched the stamina and stance crap I would've gotten this day one. been watching out for this game since the ps3 and this is a real kick in the nuts to see it become a souls clone. was hoping for a spiritual successor to onimusha since crapcom would rather waste time and money on resident evil competitive shooters.
Howya Doin well since you put it that way..ok
Howya Doin yes sir

fact 9
everyone will tell you to use your chi recovery
INCLUDING THE GAME WILL YOU ALL PLEASE STOP MENTIONING THIS
ITS VERY WELL COVERED WITHIN THE GAME
Sony is definitely investing money in right places. I can only imagine how many consoles they sold solely for their AAA exclusives.
Igor19485 PS4 = Bloodborne and Nioh machine
If you're an onimusha expert you'll have no trouble playing this game smartly lol
not really other than the Japanese culture concept and demons concept onimusha is nothing like it
can you create your character in the beginning? or you're stuck with this guy?
This game is so frigging hard
if it only had chick point saves i wouldn't be here
do you kno you can lock on??
music sounds like Otogi
This is more like 7 opinions than 7 tips...
yo whats that katanas name
You should lock on. Patience is key, this is not call of duty.
my cpu is crying at 75% wtf
Hmm. Nioh's lighting doesn't look as dark as I'd hope. It kinda looks washed out in the cave.
You really need to change the title of this video
Hehe, your voice sounds like PARAGON DS.
I was thinking Mark from Peep Show
step 1: try to start the game without crashing
step 2: Game still crashing
I beat Tenchu, Ominusha, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Bloodborne, Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1,2,3.

*+Neurotyczny Kot* Why do you dislike the console?
Neurotyczny Kot yea, why u dislike ps4? Im xbox player but I like to watch ps games and I do not hate ps console or players.
Too bad for you it's not on the Xcocks 1
Will this be on steam?
Lethargo226 PS4 exclusive
Kapitein Lulhaas yh it is, might get it there eventually.
Lethargo226 That's what people said about Bloodborne! I'm pretty sure Sony is funding this game if so there's like 0 chance that it will be on PC
No, I meant I'll get it on the ps4 eventually.
"bastards" haha
👹🤺🌞 Awesome Thanks
its 7 tips ...
this tips seem like commonsense 😂 the game is really good, loved the demo and isit me or does this remind anyone else of onimusha??
You'd be surprised at just how many people (usually self-proclaimed Dark Souls Masters) completely and utterly forget that the Stances Matter and that the Ki Pulse/Flow exists at all.
You mean those people who poke the monster once and back off then poke it again over and over, right?
Can I say something honest? This guy does not know the art of target locking. And it kills me from inside. Like come on.
Only half of these are actually tips....
recibir consejos de alguien que juega algo mal :v no vi tus pulsos de ki, atacas por atacar u.u
Seems like onimusha knockoff
It's significantly better in nearly every way.
Indskab Well, it's made by the same people...
@DrPepper Reimu
No it not. Capcom created onimusha.
@XSS-3
Naah, it debatable.
what a misleading title
This guy dies a lot.
