In this video, I give you eight easy steps to writing both an advanced and basic topic sentence. First, I review THREE different purposes of a topic sentence to give you a clear understanding of why you need to write one. Second, I then review how to brainstorm both claims and counterclaims before you start writing. Next, I give you a simple formula that you can easily use to write a topic sentence. I also, give you an example of a basic topic sentence. Then, I go over how to write a more advanced topic sentence and how to use your claim to transition from one paragraph to the next. I then cover some common mistakes that you will want to avoid and finally, I help you revise and edit your topic sentences to make sure they are clear, precise, and easy to read.
