The one good thing about 4+ sets is they make considerably better action figures for younger kids. They are definitely geared more towards rougher play and it’s not that hard putting them back together when they inevitably fall off the table and onto the floor.

While the prices aren’t the best, the mini-figures and some of the builds are worth it to me.

To me it really comes down on a case-by-case basis but I do look at the price to piece ratio as well. For Ninjago for a long time they had a really good track record of well priced sets but in recent years some have gotten worse for price to volume of stuff and price to piece. Unfortunately Lego is slipping in general with there prices making it tougher and tougher on fans.

Hot take:I actually love the hoopty set!Minifigs are pretty good but lacking.The build ain’t perfect but I really like it and it’s unique with its huge interior.It’s not a bad set without thinking of the price.

I use price for pieces ratio for sets like iron man armoury, i bought 3 suits on secondary market cause set was insanely overpriced.

I got a hot take. I love the spider trike set. Thr ultimate electro is one of my favorite figures and I had so much fun with that build when I was younger. I still have it built and proudly have it displayed with my other sets

I don't think you can rate worst priced sets by price-per-part alone as obviously a 1x1 tile has less plastic than a road plate, even though they both count as 1 piece. You should rate them by price-per-weight of the sets to find a better value system.

I really loved the Captain America bike set when I was younger, I remember getting it around the time the movie came out and having a lot of fun with it. It was cool getting a Cap minifigure as well as two Chitari soldiers.

What about the 2022 Hulkbuster? It was $550 US for 4049 Pieces which is 13.5c a piece but with that many it really adds up, or the black panther bust? 2022 was just a bad year for lego especially marvel

I don't think price per piece is a good method, because different pieces cost a different amount to make. Plus new prints and molds cost more to make as well, something can be tiny and give no value but have price per piece ratio of 6p a piece (about 7 or 8 cents) because it has a bunch of studs in it

Price per piece isn't a great way to look at lego sets values since lego could use a bunch of smaller pieces to achieve the same result. Easy example is the 2019 UCS Star Destroyer. Under 5k pieces for $700, and yet that thing is a BEHEMOTH at around 4 feet long.

I think each lego set has to be judged by volume (as Jang does) and price per piece ratio together.
Each theme needs its own top ten overpriced sets list, there's enough for sure
