I don't own a dog but I am a dog lover. Sophie is so adorable. Have a safe journey. Looking forward to seeing your experiences. From Trinidad.

I love this! It must be so fun traveling with your baby! How long did it take to get Sophie used to going into her carrier willingly and how exactly did you train her to get used to it? Would you mind sharing what carrier you have, also? Lola is about the same size and I got a Sherpa carrier that she doesn't comfortably stand in. We plan on going to Oregon next year and Lo is only 6 months old and a bit hard headed still! Ha!

It honestly didn't take long for Sophie to get used to her carrier but I think it helped that she was already well crate trained so this was just a slight adjustment. Overall it took about a full month with her going in their willingly and staying in there willingly (when I left the door open).
I would start by holding the carrier still (because she didn't like the movement of it) and throwing really high value treats inside and making her go get them. After that, I gave her chew sticks/kong inside but with the door open and then eventually we made it to using the command "inside" and her going in and I'd give her treats through the small opening.
The carrier we used is "Paws & Pals Pet Travel Cozy Commuter for Small Cats & Dogs". It's the large size up to 20lbs (19"L x 10"W x 13"H). I really liked the carrier and Sophie didn't seem all that bothered by it, I don't know how she had the patience to be in there for hours on end! I hope all this helps and let me know how it goes! 😊

Sophie is 14lbs and we flew with Air Transat. She did travel in the cabin with me underneath the seat in front of me which was awesome. I actually just posted a video giving you guys all the information you need to travel with a small dog and it would definitely be helpful if you’re looking at coming to Canada.
