  • A Polish vodka tour in Warsaw with EatPolska lead us to tasting the best vodka brands Poland has, including grass wodka! ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
    Vodka from Poland has an incredible back story - taking a vodka tour in Warsaw seemed like the best way to taste a lot of Polish vodka and learn more. In Krakow we took the best food tour in town with EatPolska and they invited/challenged us in Warsaw to join their vodka tour as well. If Poland is on your list you really should check them out here, they've been amazing: eatpolska.com/
    The best Polish vodka brands, potato, old, new, cocktails and even bison grass vodka! This tour really had it all - definitely the best way to be tasting lots of brands and not feel like you're taking a risk ordering something random in a bar.
    Before we tried any vodka from Poland we were a little hesitant, from our neck of the woods wodka is normally terrible and not used for shooting! Alas, we came around, Eat Polska has convinced us that the vodka in Poland is amazing!

    Poles were the first nation who invented "Vodka'' the true word comes from the Polish language which in polish is Wódka. Wódka comes from the word Woda which means water. Later on, the whole world started to call it Vodka which has no polish letters but still comes from the word Wódka. Na Zdrowie! Cheers!

    Saw a documentary once. Vodka/wódka is Polish. Krakow has a really old book from like the 1500's (or earlier) that has the first ever usage of the word wódka in print. Polish people do in fact make awesome vodka. My favorite is from potatoes.

    • @masz666
      @masz666 6 років тому +5

      In short, the wódka story is related to the improving field cultivation system that allowed the western Europe to resign from importing through Hanseatic League crops from Polish-Lithuanian Kingdom around XVI/XVII century, which at the time was by far its biggest producer making lots of profits and heavily relying on it and it was major part of state and nobility revenues. When turned out that demand is falling land owners started looking for another way to utilize those huge unsold outputs of rye, wheat and after a while (couple of decades) they came up with turning it into alcohol and that is how wodka came around in this part of the world. :)

    The towering building is the Palace of Culture and Science. Fun fact - it used to be white, right when it was built, and the grey colour is a result of years of accumulating air pollution. Recently, the issue was finally acknowledged by the city - they are starting the pressure/steam cleaning right now, beginning with the viewing platform area - it is going to take a few years and ~30 million zlotys to get it fully cleaned up.

    Your Polish is great! Here is a quick cheatsheet to bring it to the next level: Every 'a' is pronounced like the 'a' in 'aren't'. Every 'e' is pronounced like the second 'e' in 'eternal'. Every 'c' is pronounced like the 'ts' in 'tsar'. Every 'w' is pronounced like a 'v'. Every 'ó' and 'u' is pronounced like an 'oo'. 'Ch' and 'h' make the same sound. Have fun!

Although im surprised that shot glasses were full when sampling various strains and flavours. You guys chemistry on cam is awesome, very comfortable, makes us feel like you know us, and we are sitting there tasting with you.😲😲🍻🍸🍹🍷Does the vodka taste better when your sitting in the same country that makes it? Like you, I've generally seen vodka as a mixer or cocktail base. This vlog destroys that assumption and makes Polish vodka something to get out there and sample. I did try a vodka flavoured with vanilla once (a friend gave us a bottle) and I really enjoyed that - but I guess that's not the same as trying a pure vodka! Might avoid the one that tastes like tequila - I'm not a fan either!

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  6 років тому +3

      Maybe it's about tasting the vodka in it's home that makes it all that much better :P Definitely has 180'd our opinion on vodka as a basic mixer just to get drunk from, now we can enjoy it and get drunk haha

    In the south east of Poland, where i come from, during harsh winters, people do shots of rectified spirit which is 95% usually no more than 1 but the burn lasts twice as long as vodka, either love it or hate it. But as for vodka, we consider people who mix it to be wimps

    Cold pigs' feet in gelatin (in Polish: nóżki, pronaunced like: nooshki) is most traditional Warsaw's "zakuska" when drinking vodka. If done right, all gelatin comes naturally from cooking pigs feet. It takes some time to get them really soft. There is nothing artificial in it. When you eat "nóżki" you may add few drops of lemon juice or vinegar on top of it. Enjoy!

      due to the round shape of my head i prefer a more subtle low to mid skin fade to square off my face- not as high and tight. Barbers aren't used to it so they either go too high or too low but my barber right now actually contours the cut to the shaped of my head! She's the best! My next request is to see if she can shape the fade along the curve of my ear.

      Im polish myself and when it comes to meat jelly , only older people eat it. Kids wont even touch it. However, when you are drunk to the point that you wont fit any solid food its perfect to sober up. My technique is to stop breathing, swallow it . That way you only get the after taste which like you said is stock like. Keep it in mind whenever you feel like you had too much and you started drifting off.

    Guys They should have told you: Poles do not drink vodka for the taste of it ! Its wine that one drinks for taste. Vodka is much stronger and the main aim is to put you in good mood fast. Thats the main purpose for drinking (cold) vodka. Thanks for yet another great and funny video

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  6 років тому +3

      It was true many years ago because Poland was really poor country and back then we had no access to more "fancy" alkohols. But it changed. Younger people prefer quality and taste.

    • @slodkijacus
      @slodkijacus 6 років тому +2

      Ok, one can drink vodka for various reasons. You are right: Some so-called coloured vodkas of different flavors have been recently introduced to the market and its ok to taste them (example Soplica hazelnut flavour) . But the white vodkas (which are the strongest) are consumed mainly for the kick. They don't taste as good and that's why you need the snacks to kill the aftertaste. Either way a chilled vodka is a must of a good party :)
