- After a long time, had an opportunity to fish for the beautiful mahseers in the Cauvery river. One of them caught on a spoon lure and the other one using a topwater. Hope you enjoy!

Sometimes fishing is like that, no matter that you try there is no guarantee the fish will take it. Minnow lures should work, for mahseers you may want to try with inline spinners and spoons. These are two proven lures for mahseers. Again, there is no guarantee, trial and error will let you know what they like and when.

Try float fishing/Drifting , with a tungsten bead fly /almost like a jig but light, you can also drift flukes/split tail plastics with this rig use a tapered shot pattern heaviest shot under the float to the lightest above the jig have a second leader about 18 inches with no shots on it . For the water that you were fishing a 5-6gm float is ideal.

Generally 11-13cm length lures do. Black and shiny silver colors works well for me.

Good point. Netting should be the most efficient way to handle them. Trying to find a decent one from abroad, since the tackle choices are very limited here. Appreciate your input on this.

You can, braid is better option. Mono may result in less casting distance and can give you other issues.

which rod is the best for masheer graphite or carbon
I think Graphite rods are sensitive and lightweight. But Fiber glass rod are heavy and durable! Choose what you want from your rod.
