      I'm torn between the radial and the multi-bank. I like the intricacies of radial engines, but I also like an engine that can take a beating.

      I preferred it without his Face but only bc You had more visual material, not that I don't like his face. He could blend his face in a small picture in one corner

      Diesel found in more remote places, was more reliable, and tourqier for slow moving high pulling tractors

      There simply are virtually no Gas Powered Tractors in Europe. Gasoline was always far too expensive for that and a Diesel doesn't have fragile Spark plugs and Distributors or Needle and Seat Carbs that constantly get Stuck and Corrode.
      A Diesel will always cover itself in a thin Layer of Oil and Grime, so there is no Corrosion and a Protective Film over all the Injection Lines and so on.

      Isak Johansson Definitely an interesting perspective, huh? Gas tractors are easy to come by here in the States. My father has a International B414 with a gas engine. Apparently, the Gasoline engine variant was only offered here in the states, despite being built in the same Bradford, England factories that churned out the Diesel. Not to mention, gasoline tractors are rather cheap. Gas makes a lot of sense in the States.
      I guess Europeans saw much fewer , if any gasoline tractors.

      I own a 1960 Case 310D crawler with A G148B engine. 148ci 29hp at the draw bar idles at 450 and full rev on the governor is 1750. It weighs 5000 pounds with the blade on and has a maximum pulling capacity 5900 pounds. I have the motor out of it now for an overhaul. It’s built like a diesel with replaceable cylinder liners and a huge flywheel probably 80+ pounds.

      As an American, I like the foreign accent and "broken" English. At the very least, I can't ever tell what Vizio will say next, whereas it's easy to pick up on the cliches and repetitions used by "proper" English speakers.

    I have watched your videos for years, at first I thought they were a bit cheesy from another none native English speaker, but watchable none the less, it's great to see you doing so well, and deserved, many ppl put the grind in making videos regularly but still don't get anywhere, you can see that you put a lot of work in to researching the subject and finding the clips and all that, so thanks for all that work.

    You want to talk about low-revving gas tractors, check out old John Deeres, namely the Model D. 501ci (8.2L) 2-cylinder that topped out at 900RPM.

      TheJD is a good example of low reving engines. We had well engines made by Western Gas Engine Co. I don’t think that they ran more than they 200 rpm. They were made in the late twenties.

    I always watch and "like" all your videos. You are passionate about cars, engines and convey that passion to every one, when you describe them. The attention to technical details, such as stroke ratio, the "super square" engines, etc., is very uncommon.
    You are too young for so much experience, which means you do a lot of research to make each video. Your stuff is very different from other cars channels on UA-cam.
    So, congratulations and very grateful!

    Hey Visio! If you are interested in expanding the "gasoline tractor" topic there's one I can suggest.
    It's the Fiat 211RB. It has not to be confused with the common 211R which was a diesel (the B stands for "benzina" which is italian for gasoline). It was not as common as the diesel variant, but the model itself proved to be enormously popular and important (alongside its predecessor, the Fiat 18 "la Piccola", meaning "the small one") in Italy in the 60s among the farmers who didn't own huge fields. It was a sturdy and reliable machine, I own a diesel variant, it's a pain in the ass to get it started (especially in cold weather, as you can expect from an Italian diesel from 60 years ago) but you can always trust it to get the job done even 60 years later.

      I got a 292 Chevy six to idle at 190 RPM. My buddy had a video we took of it.

    Wow!!! That volvo in the beginning used to be mine. It was used to deliver fish by the original owner. But the b36 v8 was to thirsty so he just parked it and bought a hanomag with dieselengine. The volvo was parked outside in the northern parts of sweden for 40 years when i sold it. The new owner changed oil and it started after 40 years. And everything worked, lights and everything

    The engine in the fe35 tractor started out in the Ferguson tea20, my one is from 1949, although it's getting a bit tired now mine still runs and is still used weekly, I will be picking up a diesel equivalent to rebuild and put to use once lockdown is over, very handy little tractors.

    Check out the John Deer 2 cylinder tractors. One that I drove had a handle on the flywheel instead of a crank, petcocks for compression release on each cylinder, started with gasoline and switched over to this tractor fuel when warmed up. (Tractor fuel was an oily kerosene like product.)
    They were fun to start. when you got it to fire you had to close the closest petcock then go around the tractor to close the other one. It blew a bunch of smoke when switching over to tractor fuel, which I liked.
    Under load it made perfect black smoke rings out the exhaust pipe.
    I don't know what the rpm was, but if you say put put put put put fast that's is a good approximation of how slow the reved.

    I have a Ferguson '52 to20 and it has the same I4 petrol in it as what that tractor has. Awesome tractor I drive it once a week if I can to keep it active. Does great in the snow too.

    The earlier, extremely popular Ferguson 24 and 28 had modified Standard Vanguard engines and didn't start to really drink petrol until working hard. The MF35 and MF135, two of the iconic tractors on NZ farms mostly had Perkins diesels but, as you showed, offered a petrol option. There were other very good brands too like the IH Farmall Cub.

    I have a 1951 massey 266 x 4cyl engine, 5 inch stroke. Has 40hp at 1320 rpms. Idles at 400. It has so much torque to pull trees right out of the ground.

    The old john deere 2 cylinder tractors most of them were gas powered and some of them had a max rpm of 700rpm same with the diesel versions but all in all very good video

    I live in Australia and grew up on a farm, my Dad has a Ferguson TEA20 tractor with a 1.8L petrol engine "little grey Fergie". These were immensely popular in Australia and I assume parts of Europe. I still find the 5:1 compression ratio hilarious, the motor will keep turning over for a few seconds after you switch it off. That being said, its over 50 years old and still works on the farm doing odd jobs.

    My dads 2007 Silverado (classic model not the new one sold that year) revs at only 500 rpm, it runs just fine

    There are a lot of pre 1960 tractors in the US that use large displacement slow turning engines. Once such would be the John Deere Model D with a 501 cubic inch two cylinder that has a maximum RPM of 800.

    The lycoming 360 in our Cessna 172s are 5.9 liter, horizontally opposed, 4 cylinder motors that redline at 2400 rpm. They make 160 hp

    Alot of older small and medium tractors were available with gas. I sometimes run an allis chalmers d19 with a 6 cyl gas and my grandfather's ford 3000 is gas just to name a couple.

    Jay Leno said that the Tatra had so many accidents because of the leaf springs suspension along with the weight distribution of the car. In summary the officers would be zooming of the ramp from the autobahn and ease of the gas when they turn onto the main road which was the right thing to do in a normal car, but with the Tatra you had to speed up to add load to the leaf springs otherwise they fold inwards and the car would effectively trip over its own wheels.

    The Zil 135 is amazing. It looks like it steers the same as a tracked vehicle (slowing one side and speeding up the other side set of wheels). The engines are only half the story: more please.

    I had a 1961 Studebaker Lark in the 1970's. It came with a 170 cubic inch overhead valve inline 6 engine, new for that year. For a while, I had a 1955 Studebaker 185 cubic inch flathead inline 6 engine in the car. It was from a pick up truck, and it made a lot of torque at low RPM. The pistons were 3 inches in diameter, and the stroke was 4.375 inches. The factory recommended idle speed was 450 RPM. This engine had a different cam from the passenger car engine for more torque at low RPM. Also being a flathead with a long stroke it made low RPM torque. The peak torque was at 1800 RPM. There was no reason to rev the engine faster than about 2500 RPM. At an idle, I could release the clutch, and it would not stall the engine. The car would just slowly roll ahead. With the 3 speed transmission, I could shift from first to second at 15 mph and second to third at 20 mph. The worst problem I had was having to replace the rubber engine mounts often.

    The thing about the HL230, is they were limited at 3000 RPM because they were very fragile engines when mounted in tanks. Basically when your trying to move a 40-60 ton vehicle, at the speeds the Germans were trying to do with the Tigers and Panthers, they had a tendency to push the engine too far. So they limited it to 3000 RPM to slow the wear on the poor Maybach V12. They could in fact go higher. In fact into the 5k range. But that was in smaller, and lighter vehicles then the Tigers and Panthers. Sorry as a tank guy I had to correct this.

    All the major brands of tractors back in the day excluding a few were equipped with gasoline engines. Massey's Harris is my favorite one. International harvester made them but they was known as McCormick McCormick Farmall. I could keep going

    Well done Tatra......but they made an air cooled 4.8 V8 Twin Turbo in 1998.....only a hand full prototype where produced but I understand it made 420hp plus

    There used to be gasoline powered tractors all over North America and some were converted to run on propane or natural gas. I'd say it was in the 70's when diesel tractors became popular

      Many were also equipped run on kerosene after a gasoline-fueled start and warmup. Before the automobile was commonplace, farmers often had an easier time getting kerosene than gasoline, and a lot of powered equipment coukd use it. I know one way of doing that was to run the fuel through some gizmo on the exhaust manifold to either pre-heat or pre-vaporize the kerosene, I'm not sure which.

    I love that , surprised you've never seen a gasoline powered tractor ,,I'm from Iowa in the USA and for a long time all of our small tractors were gasoline powered up through about 1960 as tractors gradually got larger ,diesel engines took over ,,today you can't find a gasoline powered tractor hardly at all even small ones,,i'm 46 now and i grew up around gas tractors ,,even some of the big ones ,the 766 international my grandfather had was gas ,about 85HP ,in 1976 it was a decent size tractor and i still have it today ,been fully restored to showroom new about 20 years ago and gets used occasionally for work but generally gets used for tractor rides and parades
    today aircooled engines still dominate on lawnmowing equipment ,generally 2 cylinder V-twin engines
    until you get into large heavy very expensive commercial equipment there are few liquid cooled engines
    would be interesting to see a video on small engines

    Check out model g John deere. Were rated at 38 pto HP @ 950rpm. Were 2 cylinder power kerosine engines, started on petrol. We amongst the most fuel efficient engines as measured per lb of fuel per hp per hour for around 25 years as per the Nebraska engine test. 412 cubic inch with a 6.25" bore and a 7" stroke and a compression ratio of around 5:1. Would pull down to around 250 rpm or less before quitting!

    By the way, that 1961 Studebaker Lark that I commented about did not have the flathead 6 for a very long time. The oil pressure was low, and the block would need a lot of expensive machining to correct that. I bought a wrecked 1960 Cadillac that ran good, and my friends and I installed the 390 cubic inch (6.4 Liters) engine and the 4 speed Hydramatic transmission from the Cadillac into the Lark. It was rated at 325 BHP (239.2 KW) 430 Ft-Lb (583 NM) torque with a single 4 barrel carburetor. If it had the option of three 2 barrel carburetors, then it was rated at 345 BHP (235.9 KW) and 435 Ft-Lb (592 NM) torque.
