When I was young we went to Six Flags Great America several times. My great Aunt would bring sandwich makings and such in a cooler. We would go out at lunch and eat. Then, go back and ride some more.
Chick-fil-A is the only "fast food" my family eats and that's maybe once a month. We live in East Texas and we prefer home grown veggies and animals. Protecting our young-uns from all of the preservatives and whatever else they put in processed foods.
Home-made food is great. The other stuff isn't food. You guys are lucky, being able to fish off your own land and get ducks. Such a blessing for you all. 😊😊😊

My grandparents use to do the same thing. They traveled to TX from MS a lot to visit her family. They packed an ice chest and would stop at rest stops to eat and stretch the legs
RV travel is the only way I will travel these days. Eating out of our kitchen bis the only way. Bigger than a sprinter van and your time will slow down greatly. But well worth it!

Let me tell you something. My wife and I have noticed when they did open back up after the so-called pandemic they must have found that the way they did business during covid-19 was more profitable in dining rooms being closed providing lower overhead costs, along with fewer employees Or desperate lesser trained employees. THE big one too is that if the excuse is believable enough they can get away with telling the customer that the machines not working or that they're out of whatever it is. When actually the "machine" needs to be refilled or have ice added.. and the "whatever" that they're out of means they really don't want to open a new container or the service line tray is empty! Lower standards of product and service quality have become the acceptable "norm".. but it is a service industry..based on a customer or consumer base and we as the customer does not have to accept it. But that would mean you might have to go without your Big Mac or your Whopper or _____ fill in the blank. America wants it now and wants it fast... But they're cravings cause many to compromise and take what they're given. Time to change this.. since Congress is seemingly unfixable maybe we could do something to fix the slow-food industry!!? lol
I don't eat fast food often but when I do it's Chick-fil-a. They are very nice. Always nice. As a result I always talk nice about them. After you order and pay, you step aside and I'm talking about how nice they are. I even talked to a couple of managers and the owner who was also serving people.😊💜
I worked behind a counter at a fast food place. They never treat their employees right. 8 hour shift only 1 30 min break. And no sitting down the whole time. I was only in high school, but I saw how the adults were miserable and decided I’d rather be homeless then work fast food. Never again lol
Here in upstate New York we will be getting two Chick-fil-A restaurants and we're all thrilled here. I know that I am looking to relocate to the South and when I do I'll be bringing my Italian cooking as well LOL
I frequently work in rural areas where golden arches, that sandwich shop, and the Midwestern IA based gas station with decent pizza, are the typical options. I could bring lunch but by the time I find a gas station to use the restroom and wash my hands, then decide if I'm eating in the car, or gas station parking lot, I'd rather just grab a sandwich or bottle of milk for lunch and actually feel like I've had a break. Being in a govt plated car doesn't help, as the assumption to passerbys would be that I was being lazy and wastijg time, even if its high noon, if I was pulled off somewhere. A CFA would be a dream!
We do the same as Jase, cooler full of our food. We gave up fast food a long time ago (especially after we received a hamburger… WITHOUT THE BURGER. 😂😂. You can’t make this stuff up.

My order was hamburger with grilled and raw onions. fries and chocolate shake if I was going crazy over the top starvin... I could spread it out over two meals.
I’ve live in Western Montana now and grew up in the central Sierras Nevada mountains. My go too is the #1 animal style. In and out burger is probably the only thing I really miss about California…
The owners of those places care about the money and that's it, I've met some. But, I would not feel okay myself making money off of selling such unhealthy food.
