All though Akaza was pretty nice and he had a good backstory, he still killed people and Rengoku.
@@lyn2046 Demons don't really remember their memories as a human until they're dying, so it really isn't human Akaza's fault for killing Rengoku.
Except Douma, he's a douche
@@hasanbassari7364 I would say the only demon that surpasses Douma in terms of douchiness is Muzan
it's cool how Akaza's attacks are based on
his past memories:
•Compass Needle resembles Koyuki's hairpin.
•His attack names are based on fireworks from where he promised to protect Koyuki.
•He's extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat because of the Soryu martial arts style, which his master, Keizo taught him.
And he never erased his criminal marks from trying to save his father

Facts
I like how Akaza doesn't hate weaklings for being weak but because they are prone to underhanded tactics to compensate for their weakness like poisons or backstabs.
Its a small yet important detail that separates him from other similar villains that despise weakness.
I absolutely agree with you. Akaza is such an amazing character. His viewpoint in life is almost paralleled to Rengoku and Giyuu. That arc revolves around the theme of Weak and Strong
But in that lies the irony of akaza, he the one, who does see himself as superior , is the one who retreats against humans , who are severly hurt. That is why tanjiro hurt his ego, he realized that he was the weak one at that moment.
@@Mansory811 yeah. It’s why Tanjiro reminded him of his former master, because his former master was the only man who ever defeated him.
Another angle to it might be that he hates weaklings because he considers himself weak for not being able to protect his father, sensei, and wife.
@@benl.4577 That also makes sense.
When I was reading that chapter I totally forgot he killed rengoku
That is a testament to great writing. I'd say both were dealt shitty hands. The circumstances made both a tragedy.

Yeh, like it swooped my memory of akaza killing rengoku

Another interesting fact about how deep Akaza's love towards Koyuki, the Symbol of the Technique Deployment Compass is the same as Koyuki's Hairpin.
@@garciaforbes2013 lol
Yeah, Tanjiro tought it was a compass, but it was a snowflake hairpin, probably a present one or either of Koyuki parents gave her because of her name origins (yuki = snow).
I like how the wiki pointed out that even though Akaza lost his memories, he always held on to a piece of Koyuki.
His hair is pink like her Kimono. As well his Snow Flake technique is similar too the hair decoration that Koyuki wore when she was alive. As well as her name has a Kanji for snow. He never stopped loving her.
Facts. He really loved and cherished Koyuki
Of course, Koyuki was his last hope for a new and happy life until fate’s cruel hands snatched that away from Akaza and he finally snapped
Koyuki’s name means “beloved snow”
What I find more tragic about Akaza, he never wanted to become a demon, Muzan gave him a fate worse than death, and kept him alive
Well once muzan stabbed his hand into akaza’s face to give him blood, akaza didn’t care anymore because he lost all the precious stuff to him so that doesn’t mean that he didn’t want to become a demon
@@lol-ki5cp Yeah, but you don't need to willingly accept muzan's blood to become a demon. It just makes the process easier if you don't resist.

And then there Is Doma
@@ricktam2841 lmao, no wonder why akaza hates him
@@benl.4577 doma probably reminds him that he's weak
Another important thing about akaza's obsession with strength was that he hated weaklings the most in the world. This was inspired from the memories of his life because according to him: only the weak are the ones who use unfair means to win(poisoning well instead of a head on challenge) The strong fight fair and square. So he acknowledged that Tanjiro is strong and his victory was legitimate because he decapitated him. If he pushed forward at this point, it would be an unfair fight.
@Sleepy Nightingale I think what he tried to say is Akaza was trying to convince himself that he lost even tho he didnt. In manga he says something like "fight is over, they decapitate you". But in the end yes Akaza killed himself like Kokushibo.
@Sleepy Nightingale technically tanjiro did win lol. Even Akaza admitted that he lost when he was decapitated by Tanjiro technique. And because Akaza hold on into his principle, he admitted his lost and kill himself (cause his regeneration is absolutely insane if he wants to keep fighting). So idk what the hell are you on right now.

“In the end it was nothing but words, I’m never there when people need me, I couldn’t protect a single thing, it’s just a pathetic, comical, uninteresting story.”
For some reason, those words cut deeper than any others in the manga for me, Akaza’s character is literally the embodiment of tragedy.
The author knows how to make me feel emotionally perplexed with her villains because they did shitty things but at the same time, you can understand why they became like that. Muzan took advantage of their weakness and thats why he's such a great villain too
Exactly!
>Muzan
>Great villain

Yeah MJ been shitting to them
Some details for extra feels:
1. Even in his changed demon form, Akaja keeps the thief brands which might mean that he still clung to his past even with no memory
2. Akaja's blood demon art looks like a snowflake. Koyuki, his wife's name, means snow and she uses snowflake-shaped accessories and clothing patterns.
3. Koyuki's spirit's last words are something like "Welcome home, dear" with "dear" being something you'd only call your husband. Since Koyuki died before they could actually get married, this is the first (and last) time she called him that.
Lol are you Korean? You kept using Akaja instead of Akaza, which is how Korean people pronounce it
I totally missed on point 2!! Does in manga tell that?

Akaza as a Demon completely despises and hates weaklings, but the people he loved the most and that he was ready to die for were both extremely weak
That part about Akaza's story touches my heart the most and always makes me want to tear up
I think he hates weak people is because the people responsible for the deaths of bis sensei and fiance were weak. They couldnt beat them in a fight so they chose to poison the well which is very cowardly and proves tlheir weakness. I dont think he ever really thought of his dad or koyuki as weak. Thats just my interpretation tho yours is just as valid :)
@@ekoko362 What you said is indeed the reason why he hates weaklings, he said that himself while dying, he said he hates weaklings because they poison wells and then basically what you wrote
But he thought his dad and Koyuki were weak too when he was alive, and even said that weak people should never apologize for their weakness
I'm not saying that he hates weaklings because of them though, just that his affection towards the weak changed into the deepest hatred as he turned into a demon
i remember him saying sick people shouldn't apologize for being sick and i didnt see sick and weak as the same thing. i mean the sick people he cared for were never fighters or anything, and he said that he knows if they werent sick they would do more and its not their fault they cant care for themselves. It could be that since koyukis and his dads (and sensei but hes not weak) deaths were the source of his pain it just turned into hatred towards the weak. but i think with weak people he means cowards, like mentally weak people (or at least cowardice and devious methods like poisoning wells are what he learned to connect to physical weakness, aside from sickness).
@@VaquOfficial yes i remember this part as well. He hated weak people because they use unfair means to win. This is also an important reason why he chose death over killing Tanjiro and Giyu . He realised that by decapitating him, Tanjiro had already won fairly in the fight without deception. Hence pushing forward in the fight was meaningless.
However, Hakuji's father and Koyuki would never do anything remotely underhanded, even if they had the ability to. They were so kind and selfless, and losing them took a part of Hakuji with them. Akaza's hatred of the weak is because the weak don't fight fair, they don't take defeat in stride, they poison innocent girls, they don't honor truces signed by their fathers.
I think the saddest part is that, he didn't even want to become a demon he could have passed on with his wife but muzan took advantage of his losses to turn him into his puppet.
Oh man, if this ever gets animated, i know i'm going to cry rivers.

Rengoku sacrificed his life but protect Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and all the passengers of the train but Akaza couldn’t protect anyone he cared. Also, all of Akaza’s movement comes from the firework show that he watched with Koyuki. The tattoo on his body is the same as the tattoo on him when he was human before (those tattoo means that Akaza is a criminal). The symbol of the Technique development Compass is the same as Koyuki’s hairpin. Even Akaza forgot everything when he was a human but he didn’t forgot loving Koyuki. The reason why Akaza hates weak people is because weak people will only use some cheap ways to win just like those 67 sword man did. Also, he actually hates upper moon 6 which use poison (this is not mentioned in the manga, and he definitely doesn’t know why he hates that). Some of you may also think that Tanjiro shouldn’t shout at Akaza before cutting his head but actually if he didn’t do so, Akaza may not kill himself because Tanjiro defeated him without launching a sneak attack which Akaza hates.
You are a genius
"Some of you may also think that Tanjiro shouldn’t shout at Akaza before cutting his head but actually if he didn’t do so' - Thats a great detail that i missed....makes sense

It's gonna be insane! I hope we don't have to wait long
AnimeUproar I'm with you on that
Because there's still no announcement about season 2. Thats why they aren't ready lol
Plz ufotable take ur time with akaza vs rengoku it could be the best animated fight ever
I think season 2 wont reach that far. I predict it will end until after the blacksmith village arc
i love this review you guys made!
*Akaza was such a sweet and loving Character before he became a demon and in the afterlife. He never complained when being punished because of stealing medicine for his dad since he wanted to help his father. He didn't think twice about taking care of Sweet Koyuki, he was always loyal to his sensei, and he worked so hard and felt right at home at the Dojo. And he never wanted to become a demon, he always tried to become stronger. And has always and will always be in love with Koyuki. And held no grudges against Tanjiro, and lets himself die so he can see his loved ones.*
*And that is why I believe and finally someone else, that Akaza/Hakuji is the best villain.*
Akaza: yet in the end of the day it's just a pathetic, comical, uninteresting story.
Me: guess I'll cry
MEN
LMAO
Such a sad story
Akaza was a genuinely nice and kind-hearted person, but circumstances of his life fucked him up and made him into what he is today.
It’s not his fault that he’s a demon and that muzan blocked off his memories
Nah he just an idiot. Why did he have to rob people if he could just get a job?
@@zakatayas8719 Oh I'm sure that the government would hire an 11 year old kid that has criminal tattoos on his hands. That's sounds 100% real. Have some common sense, idiot🤦😒. And next time, use that brain of yours ok? 😑☺️☺️

When i got to this character arc I absolutely cried. This video made me cry as well as I remembered it.
dude I've been watching this channel for a year now and your the one who get me to read the manga thanks because now I know how to read
The sad thing is even if Tanjiro and the demon slayers managed to defeat and kill Muzan, humans will still continue to act like demons and cause pain to fellow humans. The cycle will continue and never end.

I like how most of the demons aren't portrayed as just these heartless victimizers, but also as victims themselves. Victims of their tragic life circumstances, as well as victims of Muzan himself. Victims of his manipulation and demon creation abilities, he took away their humanity, memories, and forced them to be loyal to him under threat of death. Even though the demons have killed scores of people, deep down they're victims as well
I absolutely agree with you
Same
and then there's douma..
@@RAIZU18 He applies too, just to a lesser extent
Muzan is the Heartless Victimizer tho
I pretty much enjoyed the film recently in theaters. That battle in the end was beautiful done and breathtaking.
Demon slayer villains are best possible way to write a villain, showing how some people use their talent and desires in evil way just because they do not have someone or lose someone who can help them use them for good and turning into a demon is a way of showing the dark place where all humans resort to after being left all alone.

0:10 demons aren’t born evil
Douma: Hold my fan
I think his parents fucked him up
Muzan: Hee hee
Doums didn't bone evil until he turned into a demon. He just couldn't feel emotions as a human
I really like all of the villain arks but I got to agree with you this one was amazing
If you notice, Koyuki has a clip in her hair with 3 looking snowflakes. They are the same design as Akaza’s destruction technique 😭
Ever since he killed Rengoku I had a love/hate relationship with him. His fighting style is the coolest in my opinion but he still killed Rengoku.
Prohn Remember. Rengoku died because he has strong battle spirit. Akaza kept asking Rengoku to become a demon because it will be a waste if a person like Rengoku dies.
Rengoku sacrificed his life but protect everyone successfully. Akaza couldn’t protect anyone he cared

This is why Akaza my fav upper moon
He really was the best demon out there imo!!
His backstory , his personality and his obsession with power were all so very well written!!!
This reminds me of the fact that Douma teased Akaza in the manga that he himself is the upper moon 2 even tho Akaza became a demon way earlier than he did, yet didnt surpass the ranking prob bc he refused to eat women (since demons gets stronger by the amount of people they eat)
He probably would have topped Douma if he ate women. God knows how hellishly powerful he'd be if he didn't refrain from that.
