In this video I'll perform a printhead manual cleaning on an Epson Stylus SX130. This procedure can be performed on most of the Epson printers, but I'll demonstrate these procedures on an SX130 because it's one of the only ones that require disassembly in order to reach the carriage properly.
The entire repair process is pretty simple.
↓ Tools and things needed ↓
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Paper towels
- Cleaning Solution or Glass Cleaner
- Latex Gloves (Suggested)
- For the second method, a syringe with a piece of tubing of the correct diameter.
WARNING: If the printer cannot be unblocked, wait to throw your printer in trash... There are no components that can be recycled inside of a printer, printheads often cost a lot, but in some cases are very cheap too, so contact me and I'll try my best to find the best price online for the part you need. Don't waste stuff that can be repaired!!!

Thank you so much! I just got an Epson SX-125 that I found in the street, to print all colours again. After I first tested it, only black prints would come out. Now all 4 cartridges are used again! Yay! By the way I did not disconnect any of the flat cables. Although I had the materials at hand I didn't have to do the "last resort cleaning". Very relieved about that.

Which method worked for you? Soaking it or flushing the cartridges?

Thank you for this video. I have a Epson XS130 that has been stored in the loft for years. I have bought new cartridges and even a new USB connector as I couldn't remember where I stored the original - wish I hadn't have wasted my money now. It really is a poor printer. It was not printing properly and and ink light constantly flashed. The method of pressing the 'stop' button, which then brings along the next cartridge to change and allows you to access to it not working so once I manage to replace one colour, the light stayed on, but the machine would not bring along the next cartridge in place for me to access it and change. I was pleased to come across your video just so I could replace all cartridges and understand the machine a bit better (i'm not techy at all!). I didn't clean it too much because I wanted to test whether that would do the trick. Now its all back together, plugged in and working and finally, the ink light had gone off. Issue now is, its not printing with black still. Any advice from here anyone? I also now remember that I stopped using this printer as I had issues back then!

Hi i got the "WIC Reset Utility",
It Worked problem Solved,
I used The "trial" Key so only reset 80%,
but now i can print again, "Thank You" for the Help and Video's

What do I do if it is locked? I tried to wash them out per your instructions and no ink came onto the paper towel on any of the colors.
Hi I got same on as yours, but main issue is it not printing any paper, and it has got all 4 new link and anyone no what could be possible problems with this?

I cleaned the head with the syringe, everything went slowly. But I put everything together and now there is no power. Even the lights won't blink. I tried to reset the printer with holding the button while plugging it. No luck. Is there a protection on the chasis? maybe I shorted it

Hi, I have bought this printer used for really cheap and I cannot get it to scan. Do you have any suggestions? I downloaded the drivers and when I press both top buttons nothing happens.
You need Epson Scan in order to use the scanner, other than the driver, that's for printing.
Ciao Paolo, molto interessante, ho visto come smonti la stampante per pulire testine ma a me serve poter disincastrare il rullo o scanner che è nella parte alta della stampante, per intenderci il coperchio che hai tolto dopo aver svitato le viti, come posso aprire il vetro o plexiglass e mettere a posto lo scanner? Ciao, bellissimo video. Mi hanno regalato questa stampante come non funzionante. Al momento una volta collegata e accesa ho una segnalazione di errore manifestata con il lampeggio di tutti i tre led del pannello anteriore. Sai per caso come devo procedere per risolvere il problema?
Ciao, ti consiglio di utilizzare WIC Reset non per fare un reset, ma per fare il report degli errori e vedere che tipo di errore ha, per maggiori informazioni sull'uso di WIC Reset vedi il video sull'errore stampante epson WF-2510.

si è riaccesa poi? stesso problema...
Anche a me non si accendeva, uno dei cavi flat posizionati sulla scheda in alto a sx andava inserito girato rispetto agli altri.

ho fatto la pulizia testine manualmente xché il nero non stampava bene,ho rimesso le cartucce e ho fatto fare una ulteriore pulizia testine alla stampante ma nonostante tutto mi stampa fogli bianchi. Che devo fare? Aspettare un giorno x fare in modo che l'inchiostro scenda nella testina?

Ciao! Se fai una pulizia manuale della testina, un solo ciclo di pulizia automatico non è assolutamente sufficiente per far fluire di nuovo l'inchiostro nella testina. Assicurati che tutte le cartucce siano recenti (installate negli ultimi mesi) e fai almeno 3 cicli di pulizia di fila, se la qualità torna apposto bene così, sennò lascia la stampante ferma per qualche ora e fanne altri 2-3, e vedi se la situazione migliora.

Hi! I use Quasar glass cleaner, sold in Italy, if you're from USA you can use Windex with Ammonia D, if you're from any other state consider using a glass cleaner that has similar to water density, and contains ammonia.
try warm not hot water and a weak 20% isopropyl alcohol solution. that works to unclog stubborn injets. leave the syringe overnight connected to the blocked nozzle with a paper towel underneath to fully loosen any dried ink then try purging the nozzle again in the morning with 1 or 2 ml of fluid

Hi :) Install on your computer a software called WIC Reset (it's free to download), then open it, select your printer and then click "Report" under the "Information" section. It will generate a full report on your printer. Look at the section where it says "last printer fatal error code" and tell me what it says next to it.
Error code 20000010 and 2000068 after resetter software install these code are mentioned after check

I'd definitely avoid to use something other than glass cleaner.

@@PaoloMarcelli But your version of Quasar glass should contain alcool, the formula with ammoniaca can work well?
You dont have to disconnect the on off button from the ribbon the force you put on that was excessive imo

Hi! You need to reset the waste ink counter, I've done a video on that (InkChip WIC Reset) but you also need to replace the ink pads or disconnect the waste ink tube and connect it to an external reservoir to collect it, as the pads in the printer are completely saturated.

canon printer is better. The head comes off and washes much easier.:)
And it burns out giving errors like B200 or B203 very often, and even when working it's subject to wear much quicker because it's a thermal inkjet head instead of a piezoelectric one :)
