An excellent concise tutorial on how to get the job done. Others have posted longer videos but natter on and on without adding new information. Allowing an air bubble in the syringe is an great tip not mentioned elsewhere that may save you from de-laminating the cartridge carrier components due to applying too much pressure. Robb Muffet did have an additional tip in that for very dried up print heads, (shelved for weeks, months or years), just leave short pieces of tubing with cleaning fluid on each color and let sit for 12 - 48 hours. The fluid level in the tubing will drop a bit after the dried ink has softened up. Then you can use a syringe to withdraw the dried ink, as well as gently cycle the cleaning fluid as shown in this, (Octopus Concept's), video. You want to push some ink through to the paper towel but not so much that it saturates the 'waste ink pads' underneath. (Printer may stop working if there is a 'waste ink' sensor that says the pads are full. Use a dry paper towel to soak up fluid on the 'waste ink' pads.)
Excellent feedback! Thank You! Time is the key to get a heavy dried up print head back to life - let the cleaning fluid work on it for quite while? We prefer to push the cleaner plus the waste ink through the print head out of its nozzles as we can avoid to have air inside the print head´s ink chambers. To be on the safe side we use beside a piece of foil material under the absorbent towel. This prevents the mix of cleaner and inks to flow into further parts in Your printer.
Ah, yes, air inside the print head's ink chambers would likely create other problems, such as having to run several of the printer's "cleaning cycles" to push enough ink through to flush out the air bubble. Thanks for mentioning that.
Hey guys! Whoever is not having the cleaning liquid, you can make your own and it works like a charm. Mix 5ml of 100% alcohol with 5ml of water and use it the same way thats shown in the video. After you've pushed the liquid throught the head to the towel print a few prints untill the new ink gets into the head and clears the colors and its all going to be allright! Thats how I unclogged my epson 7710 and this was a tip given to my by a printer technician guy. Goodluck in the journey of everybody!
@KristiyanStamenov what kind of alcohol are we talking about here, i have an Ethyl alcohol which is about 70% solution, idk if i should use this or not
@@petert.w.reynolds692 hey i used 90% ethyl alc. However, be careful because after like 20 times tring to unclog it I burnt my printer off and it no longer works. Even tho f*ck those Epsons, get a SAWGRASS SG 1000 and you will be revived! I bought a Sawgrass and it works like a charm, very convenient, easy and with no worries.
This product worked like a charm, but at least with me, there was a struggle cleaning 3 heads, that had a cartdrige installed for a year. At first, I pumped several times each head, without any result, but then, I made another attempt, applying more pressure in each head, and only doing that I was able to solve it.
Thanks for sharing Your experience with applying this method to Your printer. Increasing the pressuer is a bit a walk on the edge as there is the danger that the pressure lifts off the nozzle plate from the cartridge compartment - luckily it did not came out this way in Your case.
Hello Jasmine, there are no stupid questions 😁 Just flush the trouble making colors only. Please make sure not to push air into the print head - this makes it more difficult to get the prints back to normal after flushing out the pollutions.
Struggling with my 7620. Nozzle check indicated issues with all colours inc. Blk so cleaned head. No significant improvement so used the nozzle cleaning fluid. Flushed all the nozzles and there was a slight improvement but not enough to be able to print. Had seen a warning about not cleaning head too many times in one day or it could make matters worse so left it overnight. Ran another nozzle check this morning and swapped out the cyan cartridge as it was running low. All colours affected with breaks or no ink at all so ran another head clean and then checked.Black ok, magenta ok-ish but yellow and cyan missing. Repeated with little improvement so followed your instructions again and used the fluid to flush through the nozzles. The tissue for the first time showed all the separate colours so ink is getting through but when I did the nozzle check again it was even worse! Black is broken lines, yellow missing and cyan and magenta very patchy. When I ran a test print on Monday, yellow and magenta were working but streaky. Should i just force through lots of test prints to try and get the ink flowing? This is my second 7620 as the same thing happened within warranty and Epson replaced it. i've had this one about two years and really can't afford to replace it but i need it for my business. Any advice?
Hello Kath, thanks for Your clear description. After flushing the print head there always remains some cleaner inside. Usually it takes some time to get the cleaner out and get the prints back to normal. So in Your situation I would recommend to run test prints (on old / used paper) and see if the print outs improve. Beside that there is the question if You are printing with original Epson cartridges or alternative cartridges? In case of the second option it might help to switch to a different brand if the issue occurs when using this specific brand of cartridges.
I bought your product and carefully followed the instructions. My printer first had cyan and magenta working good but yellow and black completely clogged. I cleaned everything as my printer had not been used in a few years, and then when i plugged everything back, cyan and magenta worked not as good, yellow still not and black was working but poorly, with some lines and everything. Opened again, did the process again, and then nothing was working. Redid it and made sure not to leave any bubbles inside, and still the four colors are completely absent, no product or ink on any of the paper. What should i do?
@RodDayZ Thanks for contacting us about the Epson cleaning. After cleaning the Epson print head our way there remains cleaning fluid inside the print head - You need to print that cleaner out - sometimes it may take quite a number of prints to get the colors back to normal. We suggest to use old paper to do these test prints. As You mention that Your printer has been sitting unused for a few years we assume that you are working with a new set of cartridges or with new refill inks, right? After the years the old inks have changed their physical characteristics and will not work in Your printer properly anymore. When You have a new set of bottled refill inks at Your hands available You can flush the ink lines using the inks - that way you can also push out the remaining cleaner - that way is faster than printing the cleaning fluid out.
Hello William, thanks for Your question. The kit is available at our webshop: www.octopus-office.de/shop/en/printer-ink/nozzle-cleaner-cartridge-cleaner/4940/nozzle-cleaner-for-epson-print-head-cleaner-with-extension We hope that helps....
Hello Bruna, thanks for Your question. Your printer used the Epson 79 cartridges, which sit in a campartment inside the printer and are connected to the print head by ink lines. There You have the opportunity to clean the print head from the outside. To do so You start a print job and pull the electrical plug as soon as the print head starts to move. On Your printer You have a lid at the front or the top throough which You can access the print head´s working area. You can move the print head from side to side and slide a piece of plastic foil plus a piece of kitchen towel soaked with print head cleaner under the print head. You can do the cleaning by swiping the print head over the kitchen towel or / and let the print head sit on the towel for some minutes.
What should I do if my printer is printing completely blank as if the inkjet nozzle is not touching the paper at all? The printer had been in storage for about a year. The model is an Epson wf 2630. I bought new ink cartridges.
Thanks for Your question. Due to the long time the printer has not been used that it is dried in completely - meaning all colors are clogged. You can try to run the cleaning that is provided by the printer´s menu several times using the new cartridges. Maybe this will bring back the colors - or otherwise You can try cleaning as shown in our video tutorial.
Allowing an air bubble in the syringe is an great tip not mentioned elsewhere that may save you from de-laminating the cartridge carrier components due to applying too much pressure.
Thanks for Your nice comment - kind of paying forward 🙂 as You have not tried it yet. We try to keep our tutorials short to save precious life time ....
Hello Marco, thanks for Your question. The inks used in Epson desktop printers are waterbased inks. So You need to have a waterbased cleaner too - this achieves the best results. Isopropanol cannot dissolve cloggings caused by waterbased inks.
Having a hard time clearing my Epson 1430. I’ve used the syringe method before with success but this time the clog doesn’t want to clear. I’m afraid of applying too much pressure and tbh it’s happened before and made a mess. Any suggestions and also how would I know if I damaged my printhead from applying to my pressure?
Hello Raimo, thanks for Your question. Applying too much pressure can result in that nozzle plate, which is laminated onto the print head compartment, is deattached from the print head. Then the print head will be lost. The mess that You are describing happens when the tube is slipping off the ink port, right? If the clooging is not going away there might be some solidified pollution inside the print head - in that case we recommend to let the cleaner sit in the tube on the ink port for as long as possible. Either it unclogges the blocking or this color line will be lost anyway ....
This usually works and has already for CM&Y but not K. I've run a couple ounces at least of isopropyl alcohol through to some paper towel underneath and it's still not printing but showing full ink on a new cartridge. Sounds like the printhead dead no?
Thanks for contacting us about the print head cleaning tutorial. When the cleaner goes through intot the absorbing pad this ink line in the head is / should be free. After flushing there remains cleaner inside the flushed ink line - best way to get it out is to run draft prints on od paper. In Your case with the color black i would recommend to open a word document with black test and print it doubled sided on old paper - start a 100 pages print job which might take quite a while to print - in between You can take a look on the prints: Has the black come back? Is its not comin back that way - that unfortunately indicates that the head might be dead for the black color ....
i have an Epson WF-7710 that stopped printing Magenta. I ran multiple print head cleans with no resolve. I had to end up buying another maintenance box. I also flushed all nozzles and cleaned print head. Now when powering on the print head slide to left and then makes a loud scratching sound and stays stuck to left. Error 000023. I also have a brand new Epson ET-15000 that I flushed ink out of to add sublimation ink to and it began making this same noise. After manually unlocking print head carriage to move it freely is there something you have to do to relock it back to original state. I dont want to send both to repair shop when obviously I caused the problem.
Hello Victoria, thanks for Your question and description of Your problem. Actually there are no additional steps necessary to get the print head back to work after setting the print head cartridge free to move manually. We recommend to unlock it by cutting off the power supply. How did You do it? Did You unlock it from the parking position in a different way?
@@octopusoffice I unplugged the printer as soon as print head carriage moved. Now when I turn printer on it makes loud noise when trying to move from left to right. Actually I tried again yesterday by taking ink cartridges out and the belt popped off when trying to move to right. Now I’m trying to bring to a service center for repair.
Hello Victoria, thanks for coming back with this detailed description. We understand that You refer to the belt that moves the print head compartment, right? Cutting off the power does not have any effect on this belt - when it comes loose or popps of its holders there must be some other reason for this behaviour.
Hello Jen, thanks for contacting us about our tutorial. The cleaner coming out of the nozzle next to the nozzle where You are pushing in the cleaner - that means the cleaner does not come out through the nozzles in the nozzle plate at the print heads´ bottom side?
Hello thanks for reaching out about our Octopus print head cleaner fluid. You can get it in Europe on Amazon or order it from our shop... links can be found in the video´s description.
Hello Joe, thanks for Your question. The inks used in the Epsn desktop printers are waterbased ... usually. To have a dissolving effect on the cloggings the cleaner fluid should be waterbased too. So alcohol does not have this dissolving effect - but it will not do any harm either.
Hi, how r u? Thank u for the info of ur video, unfortunately is not working for me, idk y? not sure what else I'm doing wrong? but all of my colors are not showing on my panel, the black is showing full but the rest r showing like the are empty but they're NOT. I already clean ALL of them twice and still showing empty. so on the screen of the printer are showing a GRAY box all the way at the end to the right, not sure what's that means? Also when i print the test page is showing only the blaCK kinda broken lines but NONE OF THE COLORS n i have cleaning everything over and over n still nothing. I have an EPSON WF-7710. Can you PLEASE HELP ME with that? I'm using my printer for sublimation, i had it for almost 1 year now, maybe less than that. thank u so much
Hello Valeska, thanks for Your question. Based on Your description we assume that there is still cleaning fluid inside the print head after applying our cleaning approach. It is important to get that cleaner out of the printer´s ink system to get the color back to appearing normal. You can do so by printing on old (already used) paper - this way spares the waste ink tank / sponge inside the printer from getting filled up unnecessarily. In Your case the sublimation inks can also have an influence on the cleaning result - what type of cleaner have You used? The sublimation inks can consist of different ingredients - some inks are waterbased and others are based in alcohol - according to the formula of the inks You need to use a matching cleaner fluid...
@@octopusoffice thanks for responding back. I use Best Printer cleaning kit from amazon and INKXPRO sublimation ink from amazon also. I'm gonna print it again. But I did it a few times last night n i was getting the pink color only and none of the yellow or blue. The black it was kinda missing 80% of the print.
I have used the method you describe but have a curious result. After I complete the cleaning process and place the ink tank back on (my trouble is with black only) I do not get any black printing. If I take a syringe put black ink in it and force the ink in with the syringe, then put the black ink tank back in place, I get black printout but only for a very short time, as if the injected ink only is being used. The black printout stops and
Hello Clif, thanks for Your description. When You are saying black tank You refer to a black inkjet cartridge, right? Have You tried to use another cartridge then the one in Your description?
@@octopusoffice Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, in fact I bought an Epson black cartridge, installed it, and there was no difference. As a result I decided that I would remove and clean the print head assembly thoroughly (following another video on how to do it). I completed that, but have yet to see the results because when I start up the printer I get a "error 31" when the carriage goes the the far left before it completes its initializing routine. When that difficulty is solved (any ideas appreciated) I will be able to see the results of my cleaning.
Well would be very thankful if you answer my question, i have an sx218 i didn't use it for a long time and the ink head is just not flushing i tried the printer cleaning but still not flushing other head flush normally but the black ink head is clogged and nothing seem to flush it do you have any solution that can help ??
Hello Lina, thanks for Your question. The SX218 is a really old printer model - really good quality. So for Your issue there could be multiple causes. As You say that You have not used the machine for a long time we assume that print head is dried in completely. There is also the chance that the ink remaining inside the print head has solidified - that´s a serious blocking then. The only chance to get rid of that is to let suitable print head cleaner taking its effect on such a clogging - that can take really long time. In that case building up pressure by flsuhing or paumping does not really support the process. The cleaner must be water based and is not alowed to have any minerals inside. Beside that it is also possible that other obstacles are connected with the printer - the whole system is againg over the time and the materials the printer is made off are not going to be better.
Thanks for Your question. After flushing the print head there remains cleaning fluid inside the print head - this needs to get printed out. Use old paper for doing these test prints - slowly the colors will come back to normal. Make sure not to press air into the print head during the flushing procedure. If You assume that there is air inside - just flush again with cleaner and push out the air - then test print to get the cleaner out. It may take quite a number of test prints to get the colors back --> use old paper :)
Mine is a Epson model "ET-2550" which doesn't have ink cartridges but individual ink well "tanks". How does one access those nozzels ? Where does one obtain that syringe & proper diameter tubing ??
Thanks for Your question. At the Ecotank series You can detach the ink tubes, leading fromt the tanks to the print head, from the print head compartment. Then You have access to the ink ports in the print head compartment.
What is the diameter of the tubing? I have the syringe and bought some fish tank tubing from the local pet store, but it was too big. Water seeped out so I stopped it immediately.
Hello Jeff, thanks for Your question. The tubes we are working with have an inner diameter of 2mm to 3mm. In case a tube should be too tight You can heat its tip carefully and then press it onto the ink outlet in the cartridge compartment. The heated tube widens easily.
Hello Heather, thanks for contacting us about the cleaning kit. It van be ordered from our shop www.octopus-office.de/shop/en/printer-ink/nozzle-cleaner-cartridge-cleaner/4940/nozzle-cleaner-for-epson-print-head-cleaner-with-extension
Dear Shazad, thanks for Your question. So Your print head is completely blocked and no cleaner at all can be pushed through it, right? What kind of cleaner are You trying and what kind of inks ws used inside the printer before?
I have an //////epsom Stylus NX420 printer which suddenly stopped printing. The cartridges are full, the paper goes through but nothing prints in either black nor color
Hello Seymour, thanks for contacting us. Do You receive any error message by the printer or on the PC´s screen? Did the cartridges work before or did the printer sit for a while unused?
Hello Pierre - we are sorry to read about the not so nice outcome - we try to highligt that the amount of time given to the print head cleaner is doing the job and not the pressure :(
Thanks for the question. If the test print is fine the head should be free and no nozzles should be clogged. What kind of inks are You printing with: original Epson cartridges - cartridges by an alternative supplier - refillable cartridges filled with alternative inks? The banding and streaking indicates that the ink cannot flow sufficiently for the prints that You trying to make - in case You are working with alternative supplies it might by that the physical characteristics of the inks do not meet the needs of the printer despite not clogging the print head. Have You tried to increase the setting of the print quality?
Stergios I followed exactly the directions as they are described in the video. After many hours I have exactly the same problem with other guys : many-many blank pages. I have put again the catridges but I have no ink point on the paper I have put under the nozzles (is the power supply needed or not during waiting for the ink drop?) I don't think that I pushed with much pressure on the nozzles, but I am not sure about pressing air. Do you thing that I have to wait a long time more? Do you think that it should be better if I was tryibg to print one page to 1000 copies automatically? Wait for your experienced opinion. Thankd in advance. St
Hello Stergios, thank you very much for Your question and detailed description. If you are not sure about air beeing inside the print head: best solution is to flush the print head with cleaner again to make sure that the air is out. Air bubbles prevent the new ink getting from the cartridges to the nozzles. After that You set back the cartridges and start printing 100 plus copies of a print using all 4 colors - this way You waste ink pad does not get polluted for nothing. Start printing is the fastest way to get the inks back on the paper - even if it takes a high number of prints - save on paper and use old paper to do these test prints. Best regards Octopus
Thank you very much for your support & your interest, I will follow your suggestion in the afternoon, when I will be back at home. But I am wondering if it is normal that no color comes on the paper. Is there air inside each head? I can't beleive that, although I prefer that to be true... Anyway, thanks once more... I will give you a feedback later in the afternoon. St.
Hello Stergios, in our tests we have cleaned all colors - so our assumption is based on that. And in that case it is possible that there is air in each color cannel. Especially if You let the print head sit on an absorbend underlay without any cartridge set in. The Epson print heads are quite stubborn but luckily also quite durable - so if there is no damage to the print head before cleaing it - it will come back to life but it might need some work.
Unfortunately I could not print anything else than many-many (more than 200) blank pages. I followed again the described procedure flushing the cleaner in all the nozzles, I think that I took care about avoiding press air in the nozzles but the result remained the same. When I press the cleaner in the nozzles I can see the color spots on the paper under the heads. But when I put again the cartridges inside and let it for 2-3 hours, no color spot on the paper, and the ink level doesn't decrease at all. What makes me impressed is that the paper under the heads remain completely dry when I have the cartridges inside, although you have answered to another guy that we should wait color spots on the paper after some hours. Do you think that I have to follow the cleaning procedure many times instead of printing a copy 200 times? Or do you have any other idea? Thanks in advance St.
Hello Stergios, thanks the feedback and describing Your results. We have not talked about Your printer model yet - what Epson printer You are trying to get back to life? Are the cartrides set into the print head compartment directly or are the cartidges connected to the print head by tubes?
Hello Emilia, thanks for Your question. Normal water contains minerals - not good for the print head inside. It may happen that these minerals solidify in the print system and cause additional problems. When using water please use DEMINERALIZED CLEAN water.
Hello Jack, thanks for Your question. How does the inlet for the ink inside the print head compartment look like in Your Epson Artisan 835 machine? Is it similar to the thorn version shown in our tutorial? If this is the case You can flush the print head with cleaner to get out the air in the way as shown in our video. This saves the expensive ink from the cartridges as You could also run print head cleaning sessions from Your printer directly until the air is out. Usually this consumes a lot of ink and fills up your printer´s the waste ink compartment unneccessarily.
@@octopusoffice Thanks for your help, at the end since it was full of bubble, I unscrewed a bit the attachment o the heat print (at the end of the tubes ) and I flushed some octopus cleaner, it was a bit a mess but the tubes now are all full and the printer is printing again!
Hi sir, I'm Chris Nguyen in Houston. I have the same problem on Epson 2200 but after I tried to clean the clogged print head several times I got it so bad that I got the message "the photo black in is low or out" I don't know what to do. Can you help me?
Hello Chris, we are sending our greetings to Houston! The message that You are describing should refer to the ink cartridge´s ink level status. After flushing the print head with cleaner You need to get ink back into the ink system. We recommend to do this by printing test prints on used paper. This consumes ink from the cartridge. Seems to us that You need a new cartridge. (?)
I followed these steps after my yellow ink was failing to print. After cleaning I replaced all new cartridges and now I’m getting blank pages. Managed to get the black to print, but no colour. Any suggestions? I’ve repeated the print head cleaning, including around 20 cycles of the printer cleaning programme from the menu
Hello Matt, thank you for asking. After using the cleaning method from the video, there is still print head cleaner in the print head - it has to come out again. The best way to do this is to start a print job with 100 pages - on paper that has already been used (the test prints are really for the wastebasket) - and then the colors will gradually return. When printing, you look again and again how the result looks and then decide to continue printing, to cancel the print when the colors match again or to start a new print job if the 100 pages are not enough. The advantage of printing out is that the printer's residual ink sponge is not unnecessarily burdened.
Hello Victor, our cleaner is based on a waterbased ink formula but without any color ingredients. The cleaner is made from purified + demineralised water and we added a minor quantity of surfactants - thia support the cleaner´s dissilving effect on cloggings coused by waterbased inks.
hi I already tried to declog all the ink cartridges, but I have trouble in declogging yellow. the cleaning solution doesn't passing through, what else can I do to declog it?
Hello Jayson, thanks for Your description. The situation with the yellow ink line sounds to us that for some reason the ink may have solidified inside the print head. Did the printer sit around unused for some time or did You use non-suitable inks in there?
I managed to declog my cyan using this technique but after a month, cyan seems to be leaking, not from under the print head but splattered inside the printer, the inside including rollers are all covered by faint blue ... is there hope or its broken already?
Thanks for Your question. What kind of cartridges and what kind of ink are You using in Your printer? Are these alternative cartridges and alternative inks? It might occur that a non matching ink can cause such symptoms as too much ink is going through the print head and then is as You say splattered through the inside of the printer.
@@octopusoffice seems like it ... well its an older printer Epson L310 ua-cam.com/video/2OjSNzwgjrE/v-deo.html all the blue you can see are ink splattered inside
I am in the USA, and there is no such product here, what do you recommend for cleaning the epson head? Windex window cleaner whit or whiout ammonia? some type of diethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol ?? thank
Hello Angel, thanks for reaching out to us about our tutorial. We have not tested it ourselves but we had have some feedack from users: They achieved good results with Windex. The ammonia version is not necessary as Epson prints with "cold" piezo print heads - ammonia works in "hot" thermal print heads. When we talk about a Espon desktop sized printer its iks are usually waterbased inks - so any type alcohol does not have a dissolving effect on these inks.
Thanks for Your question. Our cleaner is a based on our formula for waterbased desktop printer inks - so the cleaner is basically a colorless ink. You need to have water in the nozzle cleaning fluid to be able to dissolve cloggings and pollutions as the the inks in the Epson desktop printers are water based inks. You can use isopropanol but it will not dissolve the cloggings. Best to use is purified and demineralized water if You are able to get Your hands on such material.
Hello, so my problem was that my printer (Epson xp-432) was not printing black anymore or very blurry so I bought your kit. Used it like in your video and it came out worse all colors went crazy. So I decided to remove the printhead and flushing like in your video but outside of the printer. I saw that the liquid I was flushing was nicely going out of the printhead so I reassemble it and tested. Now I'm back to square 1.. every color except black is printing perfectly, black is not printing at all so I don't know what to do. Maybe you have an answer to this ?
Hello Tuan, thanks for the brief descritiom of Your situation. The outcome of your doings indicates that the clack nozzles did have a mailfunction before the cleaning already. So flushing the print head did not fix this issue. We also have not so good results with taking out the print head from an Epson printer - the wires and electrical connectors are really, really sensitive. In most cases we have done ourselves we had error messages related to the print head after installing the print head back into the printer. Sorry, that our way of cleaning did not provide a beneficial solution to You!
@@octopusoffice Well i wish i saved the money for my next printer that will not be Epson by the way lol. Anyway your product might be usefull but in my case it wasn't so too bad for me that's all. Thanks for your answer and have a nice day.
Hi How long would you advise it would take to drain the excess out? I did the cleaning as per your video and now printing completely blank pages Have printed a lot of test pages to use up the fluid remaining in the print head but having now placed an underlay underneath nothing is draining from what I can see. would i need to leave overnight? Also I had full cartridges before starting and now my cyan is saying low. Could there be something else wrong?Any Advice would be great thank you
Hello Maggie, thanks for Your question. As You say that You have an underlay underneath the print head´s nozzles: Are the new cartridges installed? The underlay should extract the remaining nozzle cleaner and also bring new ink from the cartridge into the print head. Can You see any color on the underlay yet?
Thank you very much for Your description. With our Epson Workforce 3620 we had have to print 100 test pages before the colors came back. It might be the case that there is air trapped inside the print head. Take out the cartridges and flush the print head with cleaner again - make sure not to push any air into the print head. The print head should be free from air by now. Then set back the cartridges into the printer and position it above the absobent underlay. This should get rid of the cleaner and move the ink towards the nozzles.
Thanks for Your question. You can use any kind of alcohol but its cleaning effect will not be the best for the Epson print head. The inks in there are waterbased inks and if they are dried or cloogged alcohol does not dissolve them. Therefore the used cleaner should be water based too to have the best effect. But alcohol is doing no harm to the print head :)
Hello Anna, according to Your cartridges´code 252xl we assume Your are based in the Australian / Pacific region or You are a using a printer from that region. Refillable cartridges for Your printer must have the same code as the cartridges You are using right now - 252 or 252xl. Our alternatives for Epson 27 will not work in Your printer.
Please are you able to help with Epson ET 4500 printer model? Ink was mistakenly put in the wrong tank. Is there anyway I can flush the ink out? Thanks
Hello fesocan, we would suggest the following approach to get the right ink color back to the print head´s nozzles: 1. empty all the tanks are good as possible 2. fill the right ink color into the tank, that has been filled with the wrong color before 3. install an absorbent pad under the print head´s nozzle plate - that could be a folded paper kitchen towel on a layer of plastic foil 4. the absorbent pad sucks out the the ink from the print head and the connected tubes 5. the right ink color replaces the wrong ink in the tubes and the print head as it is sucked into the absorbent pad (emptying the other colors before safes these valuable inks as the are not sucked into the pad for no reason? Why not to push the ink into the tubes? Most of the Epson printers, whose print head is connected by tubes to the ink source - in your case the external tanks , an one way valve at the print head prevents pressure from the ink tank having effect on the print head. So the only way is to suck the ink in from the nozzle side. We hope that helps....
OctopusConcept Wow am really impressed for you to actually take out time to type all this steps. I will try what you suggested and I will get back to you. Thanks so much for your time, you just got a new subscriber anyway.
Hello Andy, thanks for Your question. If Your print head is still funtional and does not have any technical damages - Yes, there is a chance that our suggestion can bring back Yout printer to life.
Thank You very much for Your question. We regret to read that You have difficulties when following our tutorial. What does Your printer´s manual say what the error means?
Thanks for Your question. The cleaning fluid must be adjusted to the type of sublimation ink You are using in Your printer. There are for example waterbased sublimation inks and alcohol based sublimation inks. So for the waterbased version You need to apply a waterbased cleaner made from DEMINERALIZED water. And the other way around for an alcohol based sublimation ink the dissolving effect must come from a cleaner containing alcohol. Please check Your sublimation inks for what applied to You.
Thanks for the question - You need to get Your hands on purified and demineralized water. "Normal" water contains minerals - there is a chance that these minerals react with the inks inside the print head and build up solid structures there - then the print head is clogged 4ever :-(
Hello Ray, unfortunately the answer is yes. That´s why we point out to apply the pressure very gently and give the cleaner sufficient time to dissolve cloggings inside the print head.
After watching this video I tried the pumping action and now my printer won't print any ink on the paper, whereas before it would but was missing parts. How can I fix it so it will print ink?
Thanks for contacting us about the tutorial. After flushing the ink system using the tutorial´s way there always remains cleaner liquid in the print head. This cleaner has to be printited out before the inks will come back to normal. We recommend to start a 100 pages print job on old, already used paper. This takes some time so You should have a look in between if the colors are fine again or keep on printing.
@@Eeveeb80 thanks for taking the time and giving a clear description to Your situation. Beside the cleaner that remains in the ink system after the flushing also air can delay the return to normal colors. Please pay attention to NOT pushing air into the ink system when flushing the ink system with cleaner. In Your situation we recommend to repeat the cleaning with flushing the ink system with cleaner - by doing so any air in the system is pushed out by the cleaner - after that same procedure again: print out the cleaner....
Thanks for Your question. What does not working mean? Are you not able to get the cleaner through the print head? Or are the lines and nozzles free but no ink appears on the paper when printing? Thanks for the additional information?
Thanks for coming back on our question. When the cleaner does not got through the print head You have two options: 1.) Time is king - mount the plastic tube on the ink inklet which You would like to clean. Fill it with cleane and let it sit there overnight. Try again pumping it through the next day. 2.) This You can combine with option 1 - but then You need to clean all colors. Put a piece of kitchen towel soaked with hcleaner under the print head´s nozzle plate. There the cleaner can dissolve cloggings from the underside. Her You need to know that the cleaner also sucks out the ink from the other colors. In general You have to make sure using the right cleaner - depending on the kinf of inks that You using in Your printer. Waterbased inks need a waterbased cleaner for example.
@@octopusoffice I let it overnight and it still hasn't worked and now the printer isn't working. I think it could be the cleaner we used but is there anything we can do about it? Thank you for answering
My wf 7720 seems clogged after I refilled the ink cartridges. The nozzle check for the magenta has been producing no lines....I’ve used this printer nearly everyday with no issues until I refilled the cartridges

Hello and thanks for Your question. As we can see from the pictures the Epson Stylus DX8450 also has a moving print head compartment where the cartridges are sitting in. There You have access to the ink ports inside that carriage - so You can apply the method from the video there too.
Hello Rahim, thanks for the question - we do not recommend using hydrogen peroxide for cleaning a printer working with water based inks. The bleaching effect of hydrogen peroxide may damage parts of the printer´s ink system. Beside that hydrogen peroxide does not have a dissolving effect on water based inks.

Hello Graham, the Epson error code You are seeing on Your machine is a quite unspecific code. There might by several possible causes for this error - most of them are hardware related. We are sorry we are not able to give You a a solving approach to get rid of this error code.
Thanks for Your answer and description. Sounds strange to us - so now the machine is OFF and stays OFF when You try to turnit on again? Sorry for more questions from our side....
Hi, i followed your procedure to clean the printer dead head with clogged nozzles but their is blank paper print after that, what i would do to fix this problem.
There is still cleaner liquid in the print head - first You need to get this cleaner out. As the cleaner is some sort of colorless ink You can print it out until the normal inks come back. You also can place the print head on an absorbent underlay again and let that underlay suck the cleaner out of the print head while the ink cartridges are installed. When the normal inks have reached the nozzles again You can see their colors on the absorbent underlay.
I have little to no printing on a mostly blank paper as well. When I place the print head on a paper towel, nothing really drains out. I tried cleaning the heads, printed a nozzle test, and again, only faint results. Any suggestions?
Hello Arlene, when placing the print head on the paper towel it is necessary that there are ink cartridges in the cartridge compartment that ink from these cartridges can get drained towards the nozzels. When You can finally see ink on the paper towel Yopu can go back to print, the quality of the print should become better after some pages.
Hello Khalid, thanks for Your question. Usually the inks used in the desktop sized Epson printers are waterbased inks - alcohol has no solution effect on these inks or cloggings caused by this type of ink. The cleaner should be waterbased too when the inks are waterbased. Alcohol will do no damage to Your printer but its cleaning effect will be limited ...

@@octopusoffice Yes Sir i cleaned the try with dry cloth as it is clogged with ink.. so is there a way to by pass this error or reset the mechanical settings..
Thanks for Your quick response. We are sorry we have no suggestion how to bypass this hard stop message. We can imagine that there are some residual fibers of the cloth used for cleaning stucked somewhere or that the tray got displaces somehow - hard to guess for us the exact reason from the long distance.
I followed all instructions and cleaned just my black ink heads, but now have run several test pages, run several head cleanings and tests, and have removed and replaced the black ink cartridge twice, but still I get no black ink, only blank pages. I cleaned all the liquid from the towel area. Before I did the cleaning, I got streaks and some blurs, but at least I could still print SOMETHING. Now, I get absolutely zero black ink. Is there anything else I can do get it working again?
Hello James, thank you very much for contacting us and providing this helpful description. Replacing the black cartridfe twice after cleanining means that it has been emptied twice? There is the question if these two cartridges have been really empty, meaning ink going through the print head, or the empty message appeared by the chip calculating that the cartridge must be empty due to its use in the printer (independend from if there was actual ink leaving this cartridge). We assume that there is air remaining in the print head in the black color line, it prevents the new ink reaching the nozzles. Best way to get rid off this is to flush the black color line with cleaner again - make sure not to press any air into the print head. After that go back to print out the cleaner.
@@octopusoffice thank you for your reply. I was simply taking the existing (still full) black ink cartridge out and putting it back in, to see if that helped it register. But still no black ink. I was worried about trying to send more fluid thru, that I would flood it or cause more harm.
Hello Justin, printing blank means that there is still cleaber fluid inside the print head - assuming that the print head is still intact. It can take quite a number of test prints before all coolorts come back and the print outs are back to normal. We recommend to run test prints on used paper until the prints are acceptable again - this way You are not wasting new paper.
Thanks for providing these further details. 300 test prints should have made a difference. Second cause could be that there is air in the print head - it happens that during the cleaning air is pressed into the ink chambers in the print head or it enters them from below when pumping the syringe: You can get rod off this air by either again pressing cleaner from the syringe into the print head or pressing in refill ink - in case You have bottled refill ink available. Both ensures that the new connection between new ink in the cartridge towards the nozzles in the nozzle plate can be made.
@@octopusoffice Thankyou, I had the same problem and it did the trick for me took a few flushes to get the air out and it's not printing perfectly but it is printing again, lockdown home schooling without a printer was hardwork
Hello Nicole, there are two options - either there is still cleaning fluid inside the print head or there is air inside the ink system. In the first case just keep on printing print jobs on used paper until the colors come back to normal - this may take quite some numbers of prints. In the second case flush the print head again with cleaning fluid and make sure that no air is pressed into the print head from the syringe or from the tube and then start printing test pages again.
Thank you for this info!! I have cleaned all of the nozzles on mine and it appears that all of the colors are coming through on the kitchen towel now, however I can’t get anything to print on paper. I’ve completed all the steps to check alignment, etc. I’m so frustrated!! Any suggestions?
Hello Sonya, thanks for Your question. After the cleaning there always remains cleaning fluid inside the print head. It is necessary to print out that cleaner. We recommend to do test prints on used paper to get the prints back to looking normal. That may take a number of prints but this way You are not filling up the waste ink section on Your printer.
Does anybody know how many days/weeks the epson p700 can "survive" and not clog up without any printing? I've read that they fixed it with the p800 already... If it clogs up fast, would printing a clogging test sheet every week help?
Hello, thanks for Your question. We would say that there is no exact answer how much time the p700 will wait before it clogs up. Many circumstances have influence on that. But the approach to print at least once a week will definitely help to prevent the printer from clogging.
Thanks for Your question. Depending on the type of inks that You use in Your printer a certain cleaner will have the best effect. Assuming You work with a normal Epson desktopprinter - these machines usually work with water based inks. The best cleaner for this ink type is also a water based cleaner. Alcohol does no harm but also does not dissolve pollutions caused by water based inks.
Thanks for Your question. Yes, Your Epson is working with No 29 carteidges. These sit in such a print head compartment inside the printer - the method can be applied on this machine.
@@octopusoffice Hello there, I had problem with Cyan and it works now. but another color Black Magenta is totally disappeared. so do you think I should clean Black and Magenta also? or just wait for couple of days? them might be coming back?
@@ucoxuco Thanks for Your question. During the cleaning the print head´s nozzles were sitting on the absorbent material. During that stage the ink from the Black and Magenta as well might have been sucked into the absorbent material. So when You go back to printing You should start some test print jobs on test paper - paper You have already printed on - 20 to 50 pages and then the colors should come back.
Thanks for the question. Right after flushing You can set the cartridges back in and start printing. Just keep in mind that there is still cleaner fluid in the print head. So start by printing some test documents - it will take a bit time until the prints come back to normal.
Hello Ashley, according to our knowledge there are original special maintenance and cleaning kits available for these large format machines. These kits may be more pricy than a DIY solution but I would nor risk the expensive machine. ink cleaning kit has the code T699300,
Thanks for contacting us. After applying our cleaning approach there is still cleaner remaining inside the print head. You have to get the cleaner out - best way to do that is by printing. Please print on old paper / already used paper. During cleaning please pay attention to not press any air into the print head. If You have bottled ink available You can flush the print head using ink from the bottle using the cleaning syringes.
Hello Loretta, thanks for Your question. The Epson Stylus C66 came into the market in 2003 - according to our knowledge it also has the spike shaped ink inlet inside its cartridge compartment and the cartridges sit directly on top of the print head. Yes, our setup works for this machine too . Please keep in mind the setup cannot repair a damaged print head it can just clean :)
I do not live in your county. Amazon does have a cleaner I suppose that would be worth using. I am sure I can mix something but, I do need the syringe and the hose, though.
Hello Lynne, thanks for sharing Your thoughts. We are sure that You can find the necessary supplies if You go to pharmacy near to Yout place - they should be able to provide You a syringe and maybe also with a medical connection hose. The inner diameter of that hose should be 3 to 4mm. When You press the plastic material on the ink port usually You can widen that plastic hose a bit.
My black Ink cartridge wasnt reading the ink cartridge then it started reading it but stopped printng black ink. I flushed it but its still bot printing black ink with a fresh cartridge.
Hello Michele, thanks for Your description. There are 3 possible reasons for Your situation: 1. There is still cleaning fluid inside the print head. Just keep on printing to print out the cleaning fluid. The color should come back to normal slowly. 2. There might be air beeing trapped inside the print head. During claening it happens very often that air is pressed into the print head. Then the printer does not print. Flush again making sure that there is no air in the print head. After that print out the remaining fluid. 3. Worst case would be that print head has a damage at the black ink line. This cannot be fixed by cleaning :(
Hi, I purchased an Octopus kit on Amazon but found the smallest of the three tubes is still too large for my print nozzles. My printer is old - Stylus Photo 900 and the print head tubes appear to be approximately 2mm wide. Any thoughts?
Hello Barry Gallagher, thanks for contacting us about the cleaning kit. Please send us an email to mail@octopus-office.de and provide us Your Amazon order number. We will send You a smaller tube by postal mail ... And YES, the Stylus Photo 900 is an older Epson printer model ...
Woooow i have printer ink prob right now and i just thought of bob the builder saying this when all of a sudden im scrolling through this video and i coincidentally see your comment xD
Just figured this out after Tom's of paper and wasted ink. You use the cleaning method with the tube, but instead of cleaning solution, I pushed through ink and primed the head full of ink. A little messy but now I'm printing perfectly. For now anyways

Hello Francisco, thanks for Your nice feedback!
Increasing the pressuer is a bit a walk on the edge as there is the danger that the pressure lifts off the nozzle plate from the cartridge compartment - luckily it did not came out this way in Your case.
might be a real stupid question but do i flush out every print head or just one ?
I have an epson xp 315 just in case
Right? Mine doesnt come out too
Would you mind sharing where the kit can be purchased I would like to get the locking tube

hi, do you have a similar video for the epson 4630? Thanks!
What size is the plastic tube to fill the jets, please?
the inner diameter is roughly 4mm...
Thanks for that outstanding thought plus useful feedback ... :)

Will an isopropyl alcohol work for this purposes?
Either it unclogges the blocking or this color line will be lost anyway ....
thkans that was helpful i ve just managed to bring black catridge to life thanks to your video
Thank You too for Your positive feedack !
I had to rig up my own syringe, and I used Windex instead his cleaning fluid, but the process worked!!! All colors printing fine!!
Hello Danny, thanks for Your feedback.
Danny - can you give some details on how you rigged up your own syringe please?
i have an Epson WF-7710 that stopped printing Magenta.
Cutting off the power does not have any effect on this belt - when it comes loose or popps of its holders there must be some other reason for this behaviour.

would isopropyl alcohol not do the same job?
Hello Joe, thanks for Your question. The inks used in the Epsn desktop printers are waterbased ... usually. To have a dissolving effect on the cloggings the cleaner fluid should be waterbased too. So alcohol does not have this dissolving effect - but it will not do any harm either.

Does this work on Epson WF-2860 using the 502 series cartridges?
Hello Jack, yes, the method from the turorial can be applied on printers using n#502 cartridges too.
After I cleaned nozzles- printer is not printing anything. How to fix it?

I GET all my lines in the test print but I get bad banding and streaking with my Epson unit. will cleaning heads like this fix that too?
Thanks for the question. If the test print is fine the head should be free and no nozzles should be clogged. What kind of inks are You printing with: original Epson cartridges - cartridges by an alternative supplier - refillable cartridges filled with alternative inks? The banding and streaking indicates that the ink cannot flow sufficiently for the prints that You trying to make - in case You are working with alternative supplies it might by that the physical characteristics of the inks do not meet the needs of the printer despite not clogging the print head. Have You tried to increase the setting of the print quality?

I followed exactly the directions as they are described in the video. After many hours I have exactly the same problem with other guys : many-many blank pages.
I have put again the catridges but I have no ink point on the paper I have put under the nozzles (is the power supply needed or not during waiting for the ink drop?)
I don't think that I pushed with much pressure on the nozzles, but I am not sure about pressing air.
Do you thing that I have to wait a long time more? Do you think that it should be better if I was tryibg to print one page to 1000 copies automatically?
Wait for your experienced opinion.
Thankd in advance.

Best regards
Octopus
Thanks in advance

Hello Stergios, thanks the feedback and describing Your results. We have not talked about Your printer model yet - what Epson printer You are trying to get back to life? Are the cartrides set into the print head compartment directly or are the cartidges connected to the print head by tubes?
Can I clean with just water?
Hello Emilia, thanks for Your question. Normal water contains minerals - not good for the print head inside. It may happen that these minerals solidify in the print system and cause additional problems. When using water please use DEMINERALIZED CLEAN water.
Hello I have an Epson Artisan 835, I think I have air in the printer head, how can I fix that ? thanks
Thank you so much! Appreciate your reply!
Always welcome!
What is that liquid solution you are using?
Hi,
I am wondering what is the contents of the bottle please,
is it a Isopropanol or can I use Isopropanol?
Thanks
By the way, the cartridge is brand new
Well now I have an error code 0x9A I'm just gonna throw this garbage. Wasting my time repairing it and wasted half a price of a new one so well
Hello Tuan, thanks for the brief descritiom of Your situation. The outcome of your doings indicates that the clack nozzles did have a mailfunction before the cleaning already. So flushing the print head did not fix this issue. We also have not so good results with taking out the print head from an Epson printer - the wires and electrical connectors are really, really sensitive.
Can You see any color on the underlay yet?
no nothing comes through - the cartridges are about a week old.
Thank you for your prompt reply!
And yes I have the cartridges in when draining the excess.
Can isopropyl alcohol be used for the cleaning fluid?
Thanks for Your question. You can use any kind of alcohol but its cleaning effect will not be the best for the Epson print head. The inks in there are waterbased inks and if they are dried or cloogged alcohol does not dissolve them. Therefore the used cleaner should be water based too to have the best effect. But alcohol is doing no harm to the print head :)
Can I use the WF-3620DWF 27xl refillable cartridges for wf-3620 252xl
Hello Anna, according to Your cartridges´code 252xl we assume Your are based in the Australian / Pacific region or You are a using a printer from that region. Refillable cartridges for Your printer must have the same code as the cartridges You are using right now - 252 or 252xl. Our alternatives for Epson 27 will not work in Your printer.

Please are you able to help with Epson ET 4500 printer model? Ink was mistakenly put in the wrong tank. Is there anyway I can flush the ink out? Thanks
Hello fesocan, we would suggest the following approach to get the right ink color back to the print head´s nozzles:
1. empty all the tanks are good as possible
2. fill the right ink color into the tank, that has been filled with the wrong color before
3. install an absorbent pad under the print head´s nozzle plate - that could be a folded paper kitchen towel on a layer of plastic foil
4. the absorbent pad sucks out the the ink from the print head and the connected tubes
5. the right ink color replaces the wrong ink in the tubes and the print head as it is sucked into the absorbent pad (emptying the other colors before safes these valuable inks as the are not sucked into the pad for no reason?
Why not to push the ink into the tubes? Most of the Epson printers, whose print head is connected by tubes to the ink source - in your case the external tanks , an one way valve at the print head prevents pressure from the ink tank having effect on the print head. So the only way is to suck the ink in from the nozzle side.
We hope that helps....

What if the ink is sublimation should I still use mineralized water?

There are for example waterbased sublimation inks and alcohol based sublimation inks. So for the waterbased version You need to apply a waterbased cleaner made from DEMINERALIZED water. And the other way around for an alcohol based sublimation ink the dissolving effect must come from a cleaner containing alcohol. Please check Your sublimation inks for what applied to You.

@@octopusoffice How do we get it to work if the cleaner isn't getting through the print head?
Thanks for coming back on our question. When the cleaner does not got through the print head You have two options:
1.) Time is king - mount the plastic tube on the ink inklet which You would like to clean.

@@octopusoffice I printed around 300 test prints still noting, I cleaned it again still blank.

@@octopusoffice thanks for your reply. Would you also know how many prints one could get out of the 25,0ml ink cartriges?
Very well explained, did as instructed and it worked perfectly. Problem resolved, Thank you very much
hello Naj, thanks for taking the time and sharing Your success story ! We are glad that our tutorial could help 👍🏻

Can I use Alcohol to clean?
Thanks for Your question. Depending on the type of inks that You use in Your printer a certain cleaner will have the best effect. Assuming You work with a normal Epson desktopprinter - these machines usually work with water based inks. The best cleaner for this ink type is also a water based cleaner. Alcohol does no harm but also does not dissolve pollutions caused by water based inks.
Is it also works with EPSON XP-345?
@@octopusoffice It didn't come back. so I cleaned it again all colors. and printed more than 20 then my printer stopped as Error no.01. :(
How soon can I use the epson printer after flushing the clogged nozzle?
Thanks for the question. Right after flushing You can set the cartridges back in and start printing. Just keep in mind that there is still cleaner fluid in the print head. So start by printing some test documents - it will take a bit time until the prints come back to normal.
Do you know how to do this for an eco-solvent printhead? Epson S30670 series? Thanks!
Hello Ashley, according to our knowledge there are original special maintenance and cleaning kits available for these large format machines. These kits may be more pricy than a DIY solution but I would nor risk the expensive machine.
ink cleaning kit has the code T699300,
After doing this the print came blank, completely white, using exactly your products. How is that possible?
Thanks for contacting us. After applying our cleaning approach there is still cleaner remaining inside the print head. You have to get the cleaner out - best way to do that is by printing. Please print on old paper / already used paper. During cleaning please pay attention to not press any air into the print head.
If You have bottled ink available You can flush the print head using ink from the bottle using the cleaning syringes.
Hello, will this set-up work for an Epson Stylus C66? Thanks.
Oh, that's not scary at all. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hello Will, thanks for Your feedback!
There are 3 possible reasons for Your situation:
This cannot be fixed by cleaning :(
will this work for the WF-3640? it looks like it will
Hello Mike, thanks for Your question. Yes, Your Epson 3640 should have the same spikelike ink ports as shown in the video.
good illustration. thanks alot
Thanks for Your nice feedback!
Thanks for the reply - Email with details sent.
Hello Barry, thanks for the feedback. We work something out for You!

@@Evanescence29 We are all not that different from each other ... in a positive way 👍
Just figured this out after Tom's of paper and wasted ink. You use the cleaning method with the tube, but instead of cleaning solution, I pushed through ink and primed the head full of ink. A little messy but now I'm printing perfectly. For now anyways
Thanks for these insights.
It would be nice if Epson had priming function for their shitty printers
i love you men!! Thanks for this wideo!
Thanks for Your awesome feedback! We appreciate Your support a lot !
I literally bought this printer yesterday and it says blocked already
😮 NEW printer ? Really?
Yeah Epsons are getting worse and worse
