Hello Tim: Thanks for all these videos. I'm a student in Industrial Automation and your videos really help explain PLC programming in more detail than we can get in class, so thanks. I've tried to follow along with some of your videos, but not doing too well. I only have access to RSLogix Micro Starter from Rockwell. Is it possible to implement most of your programs using this, or am I just gonna have to watch the videos, and go in after class to try them out? Thanks.....

Hi Richard. If I were learning PLC programming today, I wouldn't use RsLogix 500. I would use Connected Components Workbench which also has a free version. See link below.

Hi Tim i got a question. i need to reallocate an analog output to another channelnon the same card. to modify hardware configuration do i need to download the modified project or i can do this online?

It depends on the PLC and possibly the version of the software that you are using. But for Studio 5000, you can do it online

Dumb question, but how can you do it without a simulator? Is there an option in studio 5000

Any 4-20 mA device will work. The simulator is just an easy way to do it without additional hardware.

    Hello Tim,
Great videos! I had a quick question related to my analog inputs. I have a CompactLogix L24ER-QBFC1B controller and using a 0-10vdc signal going to channel 0. I have configured it to 0-10, enabled it and it is working but it responds really slow when going from high to low. Any ideas what I have going on? I checked the circuit with a meter and the input to the card is adjusting fine but it just takes so long (20 seconds) to go from full span back to zero.

Did you happen to set a filter on it?

@TimWilborne just using the 60hz default filter

      @@bradw3732 That is strange indeed.

@TimWilborne it's like there is stray voltage just hanging in the plc, it's very weird, I've gone through the setting and configurations several times, tried changing channels, same issues occur

Can I see my milli amp reading coming into the card in studio 5000?

Yes, it will be in a raw format but here is video on how to scale it.
