And what does that say? Am I the only one that is disheartened by this? Instagram is nothing more than a sample of average Americans. The fact that bogus health trends gain traction on the platform shows that a critical mass of people lack the intelligence, or rather they lack the skepticism/thoroughness to verify the voracity of a given health trend’s claims, again, disheartening. This is emblematic of a greater dysfunction among us, and I don’t know where we would begin to fix it, I guess education is the only way.

Depends on the supplement. I have been instructed by my own doctor (and pretty much any other doctor that views my labs) to take vitamin D supplements (I am vitamin D deficient and it's common for people that live in the Seattle area because we dont get much sun)

Dr. Mike is so careful and thoughtful about everything he says. He rarely 100% endorses or rejects something, and that really reflects reality--there's so much nuance in EVERYTHING, it's never just black and white. I think it's all the doctor education and training in him. It's refreshing.

Anti-oxidants, decongestants, and antimicrobials, a winning combination indeed. A touch of peppermint oil under the nose is way cheaper, safer, and effective than sprays and pills. Helps with fatigue too. ;)

I'm a medical student- green tea and peppermint tea have anti-oxidants and honey is a powerful anti-microbial. Plus you're drinking an electrolyte rich fluid which helps keep you hydrated and helps the immune response. That isn't necessarily the most effective treatment for a cold, but it makes complete sense why it would help improve your cold.
Your body is what helps your colds. Your immune system is designed to fight off viruses. Tea is not doing anything.

@@Augie- bro I was in so much pain I went through a friend of a friend who had "oxycodone" I took two 15s but they ended up being full of fentanyl and I nearly died they had to hit me twice with narcan and put in the ICU. They definitely need to start giving the people who really need opiates an adequate amount. As far as like anti depressants they do hardly work but it's an overall good thing I've heard ketamine works really well for depression.

Juices usually have way more calories than the average piece of fruit
in a juice "cleanse" you lack protein and fats, while often receiving way too much sugar. To be frank, the best way your body cleanses is thru your kidneys and liver, some celery juice ain't gonna do it.

Doctors are now required to tell patients they don't need antibiotics and give alternatives because if someone takes them unnecessarily but later they actually do need them if they won't work.
The case Dr. Mike mentions is recognised by every doctor. A virus (a non-self-procreating parasite) is not a bacterium (which is alive), and can thus not be treated by antibiotics (“anti-life substances”).
Some doctors, however, prescribe antibiotics when they don’t know what the ailment is, and *that* is a real problem.

Finding out about the biotin was scary. My mother's friend wanted her to take it for her thinning hair. Luckily my mom refused. Specially since my mom suffers from Diastolic heart failure. Having a key chemical signature being covered like that would have been devastating for us.

Just an FYI... But it depends on the temperature of the water you use for the tea. Boiling water destroys the benefits of the green tea. Warm water around 60-70°C/140-158°F should be used. Drinking hot liquids isn't safe for your esophagus (around above 60°C/140°F). Dr. Mike has a few videos on this.

@@Peanutsnot both. I only drink the arizona green tea or I make my own iced green tea. If I'm not drinking green tea I drink water . the only exception is orange juice. But my favorite is arizona green tea. Im always stocked up.

I used to be apprehensive about flying, then I took a few flying lessons and got over it. It was the lack of control and knowledge about how airplanes work that made me anxious.
OMG Dr. Mike knows "Feeling Good"! I read this and started using these principles in the mid 1980's. Definitely helped me become a wiser human being. Also from the Road less Traveled, learning how to really listen and to delay gratification.

Glad to hear them call out juice cleanses in the video. It makes absolute zero sense. First of all, it's not actually doing any "cleansing'". Secondly, just because you decide you need to "cleanse" your body, doesn't stop your body from actually needing essential macro- (protein, fat, carbs) and micro-nutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.). You are just depriving your body of what it actually needs and feeding it bullshit.

The only possible way for the human body to cleanse/detox is when we defecate or urinate. There is no other way for your body to detox. It's just dumb. We already do it naturally.

But as a medical student, did it bother you that he said diuretics make you poop? Haha. Diuretics can have side effects, one being diarrhea, but not as a rule. Constipation would be more likely. The electrolyte abnormalities are the result of an expected side effect of the diuresis.
