Thank you for bringing the truth of this matter to the unfortunate often gullible masses. I myself with 30 years of martial arts experience had one martial artist demonstrate a take down technique on me easily without me resisting at all. He later took that demonstration and changed it to "I took him down". Talk about an ego trip, similar to Gene and many other ego driven practitioners. Much love.

Except Lee himself...since he died from being a cocaine addict. He boasted that he didn't like drinking alcohol ( though in his last year or two he did sometimes ) and preferred drinking tea....yet was smoking hash, smoking weed, snorting cocaine and taking steroids. Talk about being a walking contradiction.
      ie:
Party host: Would you like a glass of beer or wine Bruce?
Lee: No THANKS. I don't touch the stuff.
Lee: 5 minutes later goes into the bathroom and snorts two lines of blow.
      SMH.
Lee, in my opinion, read a lot and was a bit, " bright " but not a wise person at all. Cheated on his wife multiple times, did hard drugs, had temper tantrums, was self absorbed, took steroids and on and on and on.

@@anti1training A lot of stuff is not going to be printed online, in 2024. We know, in 2024, that Bruce Lee was a visual phenomenon when it came to realistic fight scenes on film.
If you believe that anybody who was a TV and movie star (never even mind in the 1960s and 1970s) did not do cocaine, then you just don't have any common sense street cred.
I remember hearing about Bruce Lee cheating on his wife when I was a kid, in the 1980s. There was no internet then, there was just the living memory of the people who saw news headlines while they stood in line at the grocery store, or read magazine articles because they were fans of the living legend a decade earlier, and so on.
I know that Bruce Lee was into using fitness shortcuts including using the original medical TENS units, at high throughput, because 10 minutes of electrical stimulation to the pectorals was equivalent to several hundred push-ups. It makes sense that he would have used steroids too. Anabolic steroids weren't even considered cheating, in sports training, until the 1980s and weren't made illegal until 1990.

Joe was, and possibly still is, a fellow Satanists. He typically does and says, what the Elite tell him to do / say. You dont get to be on TV, and make it big, unless you have "Made the Deal" with the Cultists. The Elite dont want the Lemmings to have high level combat skills.. which is why they pushed hard, to make people thing Grapplers are the best thing since Sliced Bread. The Gracies Cherry Picked clueless / inept fighters, and easily exploited them, using simple feint tactics. They purposefully labeled these fighters, as "Masters". Anyone with a year or so in the arts, could EASILY see that NONE of them were even close to being a Master of anything. The Gracies also took the original art of Jujitsu, and removed its striking, on purpose.
The Gracies have ties to the Mass Media.. and were behind the creation of the UFC... where they used the same tactics: Invite some clueless fighters, that can easily be exploited. Slant the game further... by making it favor grappling methods. Eventually ban like 40 different martial arts techniques... make the flooring rubberized.. and install shock absorbers on the actual Octagon ring. All sorts of trickery and deceptive practices.
Unfortunately, the Lemmings ate that crap up... and Parrot it back out like the Gospel.
Joe has mellowed out a bit over the years. He used to not be able to spit out a single sentence out, without at least 10 curse words in it... even when he was supposedly taking about "Enlightenment". His ideas about Meditation, were completely wrong / inverted too. You dont just allow your mind to wander. You need to keep the mind busy doing a specific task... in order to eventually TAME the subconscious mind. I know, because I did 3 years of daily, 1 hour long, silent meditation sessions. I developed the "Quiet Mind" state, in only about 3 months time.
Joe used to trash Traditional arts like TKD... Despite him having kicks that are FAR superior to ALL of the UFC fighters... because of his former TKD training. TKD has certain issues.. but, it also has some superior training methods, that are not found in the MMA schools, nor the UFC training programs (and it clearly shows).
As for Gene telling the poo story... I vividly recall seeing him telling it. And as for the mention of the Mafia stuff... that clearly would have been a "Phrase", not something Literal. You dont poo your pants out of fear, unless maybe you are like 2 yrs old... or if you already are having a severe diarrhea episode.

Gene LeBell talks about going to Bruce's Dojo and burning incense smell and mats on the ground when Bruce didn't even have a Dojo at the time and when he did, he didn't have incense burning and had concrete floors, no mats. Also LeBell didn't come onto the set of Green Hornet until episode 11 when the problem with stuntmen and being too fast was well over by simply getting Bruce to choreograph a fighting scene and having him watch the dailies at the beginning. People love to make-up stories. LeBell was never mentioned by Bruce anywhere in his dairies or phone books, all bs stories to sell a book after his death.

When one of their best Blackbelt fighters chose me to spar against... he started to make funny faces at me, while making some groaning noises. I dont stand for Disrespect, and whenever it occurs, I used KO level forces... to teach these dudes a lesson. He tried the classic high to low feint.. and rushed in. He was met by my mostly extended LEAD guard hands, Vertical fist to his Forehead. Less than 6 inches of travel, and I only used about 15% of the power that I was capable of delivering. Dropped him like a stone.
I then proceeded to KO two of their other Blackbelt fighters, one after the other... the same exact way.
These guys were excellent Grapplers, and have won many tournaments, all over the USA. However, that didnt prevent me from easily Knocking them out Cold. And that was me being Extremely NICE, allowing them past my Oblique Kicks, without Destroying their Knees.
This wasnt the only exchange Ive had with Grapplers, either.
I once sparred in a school that taught both Aikido and Kyokushin Karate. The Aikido dude was about 2x my mass.. and tried relentlessly to get a grasp of me... but I easily broke out of every attempt.. and kept Pummeling him, for the entire round.
One time a dude that knew some grappling, as well as Muay Thai... grabbed both of my arms, and started to swing me around in a circle, while laughing. Obviously the dude was much larger and stronger. Again, I take this as a sign of disrespect... as he was doing it for laughs at my expense.. trying to impress the room of other fighters. I allowed my legs to drag a little, then quickly shot my body ahead of his... able to plant my legs firmly, and suddenly did an Arial Spin kick, that just barely missed his head... as he quickly let go of me. Dude got all bent out of shape, telling me to "Take it easy", when I nearly knocked him into the next week.
Grappling has its uses... but its mostly for getting a drunken uncle under control, without harming them. Its not especially effective, in actual combat... especially when going up against a Masterclass level striker. The Gracies got their Fame, from Cherry Picking + Exploiting Clueless / Inept fighters. They refused to fight against anyone, that was actually capable of Destroying them.
Gene would not have even gotten within an Arms range... before Lee unleased a brutal leg breaking kick, followed up by Lethal level handstrikes. Gene was way too slow.. and Lee was much faster, and far more sensitive + experienced. Like most grapplers, and large sized fight... someone like Gene is used to just Tanking some hits, in order to be able to get a grip on someone. Hes not used to getting KO or Lethal level strikes, on the way in.
One of the fighters that lived near me... we used to spar frequently. He was also much larger and stronger than me. Which wasnt surprising, since while I was 6ft tall, I only weighted about 150 lbs max. You could have fit 2 or 3 of my own limbs, into each of his limbs. When we sparred, I never wanted to harm him... so I refrained from using KO level punches, nor did I ever use my Oblique Kick with any power. I merely used it like a "Stop Kick" to temporarily halt his advance. Basically, Id use him for Target Practice. He would eat my mild punches, and kicks, then using his greater mass and strength, would drive me to the ground, to try to grapple with me. I tried at one point, to tell him that he never would have been able to do what he was doing.. if I wasnt holding my techs back... to which he laughed loudly. I really didnt care much, because I knew the real truth.. that I was actually winning in each and every Exchange. I was getting my practice in on him... and I didnt care about looking bad in the process...
However.. One time after we sparred, he said that I, and Wing Chun, are "SH*T"... as he walked away. My blood started to Boil, and I demanded he return to the mat... but he kept walking. It was at that point, when I decided to give him a Tiny Taste of what I was actually capable of delivering.
The next time we got together, our mutual friend says "Fight". He takes a single step towards me, starting to throw a Cross. However, as his lead legs foot planted firmly on the ground.. its Kneecap was met by MY LEAD legs Oblique Kick. I used less than 20% on that kick... but even that was too much. He dropped instantly, like a bag of stones. He was SCREAMING at the top of his lungs, and crying a River of tears. This went on for a good solid 5 minutes, before two other dudes helped him hop on one leg, back to his car.
He would later tell me, that when he got back home, his knee swelled up like a Melon, and he needed to down like half a bottle of pain killers that night, to try to dull the pain. He said he had to crawl up his stairs for quite some time... and that it took a Month for the injury to fully Heal. Again, that was less than 20% of what I was capable of Delivering.
Mind you... he was probably as big and strong as Gene. He showed me a room full of 1st and 2nd place trophies, from his full contact competition events, from all over the states. Hes also not the kind of man that Cries. From that moment onwards, he was extremely cautious about getting anywhere near my legs reach... to the point of pretty much not being able to fight me at all. He originally said that he wanted to "End" me for what I did.. but realized, that I taught him a valuable lesson. He would soon start practicing that kick himself, for potential use against others.

Very good points! But allow me to add a couple of things which you didnt mention since they are imo important to the Lee story:
    1) You mentioned correctly Steven Barnes and Ed Parker Senior spoke about this "fight" between LeBell and Lee on The Green Hornet set, but there is something which stinks when you see the timeline:
Death of Bennie E. Dobbins: 1988, February
Barnes publishes the story in Black Belt magazine: 1989, February.
So basically it got published a year after Dobbins passed away. It's almost like LeBell, Parker Sr and Barnes waited until Dobbins was gone, since he is according to LeBell the key witness for all of it. LeBell claims Dobbins called him up to teach Lee a lesson or what ever. Funny is Dobbins himself never said this between 1966 and 1988.
    2) Sadly you didnt mentioning the research of Lee-Historian John Little about this whole thing. He spoke about it in several podcasts in the past months, and even publisded a pdf file "Bruce Lee and the judo man". Anyone who reads this file with all the contradictions will see how questionable this story is.
Long story short: A major problem for LeBell's claim is that nobody from The Green Hornet crew had any recollection of this event. LeBell claimed he took Lee over his shoulder and ran around the set with him, the so called firearm carry.
Little spoke with leading actor Van Williams, who was there for every shot, but also with the producer of the show, Charles Fitzsimons, and both of them didnt mention anything about it. And also leading actress Wende Wagner (died on cancer in 1997) spoke in the 90s about the show, and she said they were like a family, nobody had trouble with each other, it was great to work there. And she said this in an interview about Lee. She never said something like there was trouble because Lee hated the stuntmen or what ever.
Little: „Speaking with LeBell was like speaking with someone who doesnt know somebody [Lee].“
    Little: „How was Bruce?“
    LeBell: „Oh he was great!“
Little: „Can you give me an example?“
    LeBell: „No, i cant.“
LeBell: „I didnt like the incense burning in his school.“
Little: „There were no incense burings in his schhol. And his school wasnt even open during the time Bruce and Gene met each other (it was in the spring 1966, his school did open in LA in early 1967).
LeBell: „I took him over my shoulder on the set of GH.“
Little: „I’ve talked with almost anyone from the GH cast. Van Williams, Charles Fitzsimons (producer of GH), nobody had a recollection of that.“
LeBell: „I taught Bruce Lee grappling, I brought him into judo.“
Little: „Were there witnesses for your teaching?“
LeBell: „No. Bruce only came when nobody was there.“
Little: „LeBell couldnt know how much Bruce knew judo at that point. His first student Jesse Glover won the North-Pacific national championships in judo 14 times in a row. All the guys who came from the army (Glover, Hart, Ellsworth, Garcia etc.) had background in judo. And guys like Wally Jay were excellent grapplers.“
    The list goes on.
Buttom line: Very good video! But those two points should be in there. Stripey Rambles did an excellent video about the case too.
About Seagal: The same problem. In this case there are two first hand witnesses, Conrad Palmissano and the late Steven Lambert, who said the choke out did never happen. Only guys who werent there (Kevin Hart, Freddie Prinze Jr, Joe Rogan etc) say it did happen.
And about Rogan: I like his podcast and he is an expert in MMA and the UFC, and also a great martial artist. But when it comes to Bruce Lee, either he knows nothing about him, or he dislikes him and tries to put him down with his fabricated fake stories.
But yeah, its the same Rogan who hyped Ronda Rousey 10 years ago like she was a godess, the woman that LeBell said would eat Lee for lunch. Until the day she fought Holly Holm.
Eddie Bravo once on the podcast about Lee: "When Bruce Lee came in the USA, he met some heavy guys [Jesse Glover, Ed Hart, James Demile, Skipp Ellsworth] and found out his Kung Fu BS doesnt work."
Realitiy: DeMile/Hart/Glover/Ellsworth: "Lee humilated us, he beat us easy."
Rogan about the JFK assassination: A guy asks him: "Do you think the CIA killed JFK?". Rogan: "Yes, for sure". Then when a former CIA agent sits in his podcast and the JFK assassination comes up, Rogan says suddenly Oswald maybe did it for Cubans. The guy changes his opinion depending on who is sitting in his podcast. Usually he says Wing Chun is BS, but when the Wing Chun practitioner Robert Downing or what ever his name is was in his show, he said WC is good.

      You mean faster actor/Martial Artist?

    • @johndough8115
      @johndough8115 2 місяці тому +3

Dude, pretty much every decent martial artists, can be too fast for standard 24 frames per second film rates. They either tell the actors to slow down their movements, or.. they film at something like 32 fps. When the 32 fps is played back at standard speed.. its much slower to the audience.. allowing them to see and to better understand, whats happening.
Its not just Martial Artists either. Magicians can move their hands faster than your eyes can detect... which is how they still have jobs.
Lee would have been faster than Snipes ..because Lee weights less, and likely has shorter limbs. Lee mass = greater acceleration potentials. Smaller hips for example... and you can generate faster rotational forces, much quicker than others. Snipes also appears to be more of a Hard Stylist... where as Lee was closer to a soft stylist... Meaning... Lee was far more Relaxed when he launched his attacks. Relaxed muscles can generate far more speed / acceleration, than those that have some constant tension on them. Tension while punching, is like fully stepping on the gas.. while also lightly pressing the brakes, at the same time.
A lot of the modern MMA fighters, are pretty slow... because they focus on bulk, as well as do not train specialty Speed Drills. They took various techs from various arts... but they refused to also take the required "Attribute Drills" that are designed to make these techs: Faster, more Accurate, and more Powerful.

It said that on the set of the Green Hornet, Bruce likes to play pranks where he would flick someone's ear with his kicks until one day he accidentally broke someone's jaw. The producer or director finally said I will not have that kind of thing on my set anymore. So, one of the crews told Gene La Belle, why don't you do something about that little Chinaman. And Gene took the action by just lifting Bruce up on his shoulder, carries him around while Bruce is screaming "lemme go!" or "put me down!". End of the day, Bruce just locked himself inside his room sulking, doesn't want to go out when called

Joe isn't lying. 🙄. But he is relating from memory stories he heard in conversations years ago. So he's not getting all the details right. And in some cases I've seen him even conflate two different stories together as one. That said, there is a kernel of truth behind all of those things.
Gene Lebell has talked openly about his encounter with Bruce Lee on the set. And the way Gene tells it he lifted Bruce Lee over his head (which is eminently believable) and began to run around the set with Lee. According to Lebell, Lee said put me down or I'll kill you. Lebell laughed and said I can't put you down or you'll kill me! Lol. But Lebell is clearly indicating it was a playful moment. It was not a real fight. And of course they went on to become good friends. Lebell has also talked about how they did train together. How Bruce was especially interested in the holds of Judo (what we might call submissions today). But he's also been clear that mostly what he was teaching Bruce how to be a good stuntman. How to throw punches and kicks for the camera and how to sell hits for the camera. Unless you're gonna say Lebell is flat out lying and making that stuff up, that's the true story.
As for the Segal thing, a lot of people have talked about it. But Lebell has never talked about it openly. Not as far as I know anyway. I find it believable that he would have choked out Seagal. But of course anyone that trains Grappling or that has been choked out, knows that you don't immediately pee or poop yourself. that part of the story was clearly added just to make Seagal look bad.
So there you go. That's the real story behind the stories. But they're not entirely fake. And they're not entirely made up.
Edited to add: now that I have finished the video it seems you landed in about the same place. 👍

"A lot of people talked about it." Yes, but those people talking about it WERE NEVER THERE. They ALL confirmed no one was choked out.

yo did anyone else notice the BJJ "zombie" had a yellow trunk with red spots on it right?
there was this one little red spot right between her cheeks and they sat and danced with gentle caresses for so long I forgot I was watching a fight and started falling in love lmfao.

Well Seagal was right that move would work against avoiding getting chocked out a open hand or closed fist strike to the groin Karate and Krav maga both teach that move.

It is nice to see Goldenbell Training ( GT) including the long lost BlackBelt column describing Lee's loss to Lebell I brought back to public knowedge in its video. You're welcome. I also believe GT is overintellectualizing the whole episode by dissecting job titles trying to find out who was "Stunt Coordinator" and who wasnt. This is parsing over insignificant details. The bottom line is a known hothead who was abusing stuntmen got in a probably thisclose nose to nose, finger in chest argument with a much larger ( and debatebly more skilled) seasoned grappler/stuntman. And the fact they were probably right in each others face and personal space made it extremely easy for someone with Lebell's skill too easily wrestlefuck a much smaller Lee to the ground. If they started 5 feet apart. maybe Lee would have won. But under the circumstances of starting from a chest to chest argument, Lee was easy pickings for Lebell's meathooks and his grappling. This was an in your face argument that devolved into a flash wrestling brawl which ended up with Lee being helplessly pinned by Lebell. I have yet to here Shannon and Linda Lee, or Inosanto for that matter declare this account as false.

I'm on the fence about this. People talk a lot. Lebell could have spoke to rogan off the air during a particular podcast and told him the story "off air" because of the lawyer thing and Rogan might have just taken all Gene's stories at face value. They could have been high, they could have been drinking together some. Who actually "knows" what happened between them.
I think Godenbell is going a little over with this "Joe Rogan is lying" thing where it seems more likely Joe is just carrying over a story he probably wasn't supposed to that (according to you and the guy you spoke to) isn't true. Gene might have just decided it was better to tell a fibb (or two) to get a little more juice with Rogan thinking it might not ever surface or, by the time it did, the lawyers wouldn't come after him. So many people have told this story that pointing the finger at Joe (alone) seems a little unfair.
I think the more honest thing for you to have done would have been to directly contact Joe Rogan about it and "ask" him before putting out a video. If Joe had blown you off or something that might be more validation for this video.
Also, it could have been edited out of the podcast for legal reasons and joe just still told the story. It's pretty obvious that Gene made NO real efforts to stop anyone from spreading it...what does that tell you?
There ARE interviews where it quotes Gene talking about being on the set with Bruce in The Green Hornet. Jump on google for a minute. I think you should have titled this video "Rogan believes Lebell lies and carries on the story". Just seems like you're cutting Joe a little too deep for believing Gene Lebell.
This story just seems a little one-sided.
Sorry, but that's just my take on it all.

I went down this rabbit hole a while back. I believe Steven Lambert's account of the story. After digging around, I came to the conclusion that Gene was called to the set of the Green Hornet to help Bruce, not to teach him about grappling because he already knew about it. Bruce, at the time, wanted to make his fights on the show look realistic. Bruce thought the best way to do this was to get as close as he could with his strikes or kicks, which led to some stuntmen getting tagged. Gene was already a stuntman and knew how to throw a punch on screen. I think he was called so he could teach Bruce about 'on-screen fighting.' Whether he got through to Bruce about on-screen fighting is up to you. What I believe got through to Bruce was when they allowed him to shoot a fighting scene on the Green Hornet. ua-cam.com/video/GCQIp4s-P-8/v-deo.html - Let Van Williams tell you his story. Everyone has a few 'enlightening' moments in their lives. I believe this was one of Bruce's.

That sounds about right. They probably called Gene because he had a martial arts background so they figured him and Bruce would speak the same language more or less...

Joe Rogan is an absolute fraud and some sort of an insecure, martial artist, badass wannabe. More so, when it comes to BJJ and certain people from that environment, he has an obnoxious bias. Keep up the great work, Golden, keep exposing these clowns. ❤️

I commented on a video on this channel and saw that the video was made private.
I got a reply correcting me on what I said referencing the movie The Forbidden Kingdom.
I rewatched the movie on Amazon Prime and it turns out it was Jet Li who told the protagonist to "remember to breathe".
I don't know why I thought it was Jackie Chan when I ALSO like Jet Li...then again I haven't seen that movie in over 14 years so there's THAT.

My understanding of Gene and Bruce's relationship was friendship and mutual. Gene was asked by his boss to work with Bruce and show Bruce how to work safely with stunt men.
Not so much for Segal who had a reputation of purposely hurting stuntmen.
This idea that Bruce Lee never fought anyone. He was a gang member in Hong Kong before his parents took him to the states. After his fame from "The Kato Show", there were always people picking fights with him on the streets.
Bruce Lee was very clear about why he didn't fight in tournaments. He didn't see any value in training for a fighting sport. He was a street fighter.

Rogan seems like a good dude in theory but he has so many bad takes on things like this I can’t listen to him because I don’t want to risk being misinformed. This is a perfect example, I know so many people who are like this; everything is a feeling or they read/heard it somewhere but the info is unvetted. Prince is like an accountant, he comes with receipts 😂
