- VIDEO Hey everyone! Welcome to the video!
Today, we're rewinding the clocks back again to some Winter Catches taken from January-February 2022. Because we were at the tail end of the pandemic here, there was still an abundance of cargo and preighter traffic throughout the weeks. Lots of Antonov's, Boeing 747's and some military as well. Enjoy these fantastic captures!
All the best,
Ernest G.

Years ago before all the political crap started, a friend got me a job as runway maintenance. After a month of serious complicated training and testing, I was accepted. It was the most interesting job I had in my life. Unfortunately, after 5 years, health issues forced me to quit.
Another fellow and I were doing fence checks and we were in one of the plane parking area and the Antonov was there. we were admiring the thing and the captain was getting off it and we asked him if he would us a tour. He was awesome and was as proud as hell of his plane.
As we got on, it was at the front of the cargo hold. I was blown away. It had a railway track from back to front. Apparently they can haul train engines or cars. They had 2 overhead cranes. and they can put axles on the tracks and put a plane fuselage on it. Then up to where the crew lived. I laughed. Most of their stuff was in vodka boxes with their names on them. Then another room with a million wires and switches. Then the kitchen and guess a common room. Then the the cockpit. I remembering getting messed up at just looking at all the gages.
I'm sorry I can't get more detailed, but I'm almost 80 now and the gears in my head seem to miss a shift now and then. But I do remember I was thoroughly impressed by the plane and the way I was treated by the crew.
All the Captains and crew are awesome 👌 Friendly is part of their makeup
Ernest great video of some classic aircraft, your a guy for all seasons taking footage of planes. The background with the sunset is fantastic love it especially in winter making your work so much better. Love the four engine An124 and our old favourite the B747 hard to beat their beauty anywhere or any airport. It has been a while nice to see you filming again. Hope all is good at home with your relatives. See you on the next flight!
Thanks Chris! Much appreciated man 🤟😎
Great video Ernest. This plane is crazy.
Thanks a lot! Always a treat :)
Thank you! Especially enjoyed seeing the La Compagnie plane!
Thanks! Oh yeah, that was a great treat!
What a fantastic video mate! Liked!
Thanks Jelmer!
Excellent video Ernest ! All aircraft including the Antonov 124 were awesome. Well done 👍🏻
Thanks a lot!
@@ErnestGutschikAviationYou're welcome
Awesome video! So many great catches. 👋
Thank you! 😊
Great Job Ernest--Welcome Back haven't seen you post in a while
Thanks David! Oh I’m still around, just posting content every couple of weeks 😎
I've followed your videos for years, but this one has to be one of your best. Thank you.
Much appreciated! Thanks for the support all these years! 😎🤟
I just happened to spot the AN124 on the ADS-B radar page last night. It had taken off from Titusville Florida and landed at the Pease International Tradeport near Portsmouth. I can follow it now via the radar page. Great looking aircraft was very surprised to see it!
What flight tracker are you using? I cannot find a single an124 flight either by aircraft or airline in canada, unless the gov blocked that too
@Zzrdemon6633 Hey, I’m using Flight Radar 24. Yes the Antonov’s have been blocked off the radar so the only way you can find them is if you filter them out. They just won’t show any info. I also cross reference that with another website called ADSB Exchange and that shows me the info on the flight.
@@ErnestGutschikAviation I'm using FR24 as well, I will try the filter, does is show as a an124 with all N/A in the rest of the fields or could it show as any aircraft? I ask because I followed a flight yesterday from chechnia to an us airforce base in texas that showed as a 767-33a but the flight was longer than the range of any 767, well that I could find?
@@Zzrdemon6633 use the registration number UR-82007 of the AN124 to locate, track the plane. ADS-B allows you to track any plane via its registration number.
fantastic video of cargo planes!
Thanks!
I'm surprised that the RAF Airbus could even get down the runway let alone into the air with its props turning so slowly!
Oh easily. I’m shooting in 30FPS (frames per second) so the camera didn’t get the entire prop rotation which is why it seems like it was so slow. Rest assured, they were spinning much faster than that ;)
Volga AH 124-100 Antonov RA-82078 is the one trapped in Toronto for last couple years
Yup, when I was dropping off my sister to the airport for her travel, I saw it and it was parked in the corner
That’s right. Who knows how much longer it’ll be here.
Apparently it's sat so long without maintenance it's scrap , so the story goes
Great UA-cam channel coverage!👍 Glad I subscribed!👍 Thanks and Greetings from Ontario, Canada🍁🇨🇦🍁
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it 😎🤟
Is this the Antonov that has been sitting in Pearson for a while?
It honestly breaks my heart seeing the Boeing 747 being used mostly as a cargo plane instead of a passenger plane
Why is that?
I thought you were going to say it broke your heart to see their doors falling off😂😂
@@tricha123ful1 what do you mean by that?
When you get old, things change for you.
@@mikepech6822 that is so true
Борт 82072 снимался в комедии В.Меньшова Ширли- Мырли.
Wonder what the dark blue and white unmarked plane was for?
2 different unmarked..??
I like that better than the abandoned Russian plane there...hope it is gone by now. That thing is impressive. My sidecar rig flew out of there (via Calgary) to go to Europe last year in a WestJet 787.
It was rather cool seeing my rig (like my avatar) come out of the belly of that beast in London...
Isn't that AN-124 still sitting at Pearson in Toronto ?
Was that the seized Russian Antonov that just took off for Edmonton ? I was going to Toronto to shoot it next week !!
No.. the one here on the video is an Antonov 124 operated by Antonov Airlines, a Ukrainian company. The seized one here in Toronto is an Antonov 124 operated by Volga Dnepr, a Russian carrier (hence why it was seized).
It was still sitting there as of last weekend.
@@juliechaston If you look at 14:33 it seems to be identified as the Russian carrier. But if you say the seized one is still at Pearson, I'm coming to To. Thanks for sharing !
@@Steve-xf4uvOh, I see the confusion. I was referring to the yellow/blue Antonov Airlines AN-124s several times in the video and on the thumbnail... lol I must have left the room for a sec when the other one was on! But anyway, no it is not the same aircraft, the Volga Dnepr on the video is reg RA-82077 whereas the seized one is RA-82078 (which was still sitting here at YYZ last weekend when I was watching a YYZ livestream.
I have no idea why the other one in the video is still flying around working in Canada, when the other one from the same company is still under seizure. Very weird.
@@juliechaston Thanks for the update. You see why I was a bit confused. The gov't seized one but lets others fly around ? Nonsense. But re-scheduling my trip to To. to catch her before they take it apart.
@@Steve-xf4uvit can't go anywhere until it has more than just an annual inspection. Still legal things to be settled before even Antonov would make any effort to inspect it or even consider doing anything with it.
Is this the one Canada seized and presented to Ukraine 🇺🇦?
Negative, there’s one at 13min or so which is a Volga Dnepr bird. That’s the one Canada seized but not the exact one as that one is currently still sitting at the airport.
Did they re paint the stolen/seized Russian grounded jet in Canada?
almost big enough to carry Trudeaus ego
Not quite, but close 😂
@@canadiandeplorable2087no, not even close. 😉🤣
Is the Anatov we kidnapped from the Russians still parked there somewhere?
Sure is. If you drive by the Highway 427 you’ll see it parked off to the side there.
even once the Russia sanctions are over the Antonov has been accruing $1000 dollars a day in airport fees .... even Pearson airport wants it out of there 😁
I also cant imagine the cost to recertify it after sitting now on 2 years
Vive L'Ukraine Libre.
If this painted in Russian colors (ik it was built in Soviet Ukraine) people would blast it & called it a 747 knockoff but because it's in Ukraine 🇺🇦 colors 😊
Toronto is a very unattractive city.
