  • LS swap - Dakota digital tacho fix
    In this video I explain how to get your old tacho working with a ls engine.
    Www.dakotadigital.com to order part
    This is demonstrated in a 2nd gen firebird. I prefer to keep the original guages but the tachometer requires a small adaptor ordered from Digital Dakota.
    Settings used:
    In = 4
    Out = 8
    Please checkout my ls swap videos as well

    Well done, man! I actually need to do this very thing. I've had the SGI-8 E for about two years but have not installed it yet. I swapped an LS2 out of an '06 GTO in to my '87 Monte Carlo SS. I actually installed the Dakota Digital ECD-100-2 to work the factory speedometer.

    Hi Firebird... funny...we’re both talking gauges lol... I’ll have my LS swap video soon... it’s still winter here in Canada... but the weather is starting to cooperate. That’s a nifty little unit to get the tachometer working. I thought it would be cool to have someone with electronics experience to build a LCD style bar tachometer in place of the turbo lights on the hood. Kind of like the old C4 corvette digital tachometer... but long ways across like a ruler, plus a digital Display on the far right.
    Cheers

    My intellitronix tachometer reading high. Its pegged out at 8k it has a 4 6 and 8 setting. I set it to 4 . I wonder if this would help a aftermarket gadges...

    Hey, Where is that Red wire coming from the engine bay? Is that the signal output wire that will go to the gauge ?

    I also put an LS into a Firebird. I have the SGI 100BT I’m trying to get working with my tach. My tach has two wires coming out of it. Which one goes into the SGI 100 and where does the other one go? Any help is appreciated.

    So I've got this unit on a LS E30 swap, original tach was to a 4 banger so I put my IN as 8 since that's input from the engine and I put OUT as 4 since the tach was for a 4 banger but my tach does nothing but will work without the Dakota digital but read incorrect.
    You think I should do what you did? 4 in 8 out?

      Yes definitely its the only way it will work. Double check your wiring as well

    Will this work on a diesel that gets its signal from the tach post on alternator, after the alternator was swapped with a different pully size?

      I'm guessing it should work. Best to visit dakota digital and send them a email to be certain. They respond very fast .
