- During the Disney Parks & Experiences panel, it was announced that Spaceship Earth will receive an update and shift its focus from technology in communication to storytelling as a whole with the classic show scenes updated to reflect the new story and narration.

The awkward silence at this announcement was just as awkward as I was expecting it to be!
I love Disney. I love magic. But space ship earth was and still is popular, because of it’s grounded nature. It’s real lessons and true beauty. Nobody wants to see magic wind flying through each and every scene. It’s just unnecessary. Make adjustments to classic attractions, but never add something that didn’t need to be added in the first place.

idk about this, i liked the idea of communication at spaceship earth.
Idk if I like this or not. I just hope they don’t mess with the classic scenes too much
I’m going to reserve judgment until I see the final product, but this change makes me very nervous. Also, I love Dame Judi Dench as the narrator. I don’t think I’m ready to give her up.
I’d have to disagree with you. She’s always been kind of annoying to me. Jeremy irons wasn’t bad, but the current female is not my favorite. Seems all you hear anymore at Disney attractions are British accents (Happily Ever After). I’d love to see Morgan Freeman, James Earl Jones, or maybe Mike Rowe for the new narration. If it has to stay British for some odd reason, maybe even Sean Connery. That might be epic.

i liked Jeremy Irons better, i don't like the idea of this "light narrator" or it being about story telling and not communication.
You follow "a magical light that we call our story light"? This could not be further from the vision behind or original intention of EPCOT.

Suspect the story light may use tech from Mystic Manor (projections)
Or maybe something like the Hermes effect on Journey to Atlantis, but taken care of much better, because Disney knows how to do it properly.

They used Moana in this presentation so I am wondering if characters like that will break into this ride. Maybe at the end saying how Disney tells stories now and showcasing a few of their popular films?? Curious if any other movies will sneak in.

@@black84 about @1:22 they basically show spoilers so if you haven't seen 'Moana' STOP READING! LEGIT KINDA SPOILERS! But essentially they show a mantra ray flying over a girl in a sailboat. That is what happens within the journey of Moana and is a touching moment. My favorite actually. Her grandmother becoming the mantra ray and guiding her on her journey.

@@jonathanwallis3300 i may be wrong but the only place i could see them doing this both from a cost stand point and a nostalgia one, would be the end. since they are changing the direction of epcot to focus on storytelling, i imagine that bit where they take your face and put you in the future will be gone. instead they could show off a few of their films and change it up when needed. it would also save them from building new animatronics that may not fit with the classic ones. it would be the least intrusive and make the most sense. if they did that i don't think it would ruin the ENTIRE attraction. it would just change something that was added recently that is already outdated and not that interesting.
Isn't there supposed to be a new moana water interaction. Doesn't make sense to have 2 areas with the same IP.

They're trying to kill the ride on purpose. In 5 years we'll be hearing about how they did everything they could to save it. But, they have no choice but to rip it down.

This is just really stupid. I'm so glad they cancelled it. This is like what an uncreative person would pass off as creativity. It's not in anyway tied to the theme of Mankind's progress and future or anything profound or interesting it's just flashy ooo look at this it's stuff you saw in movies see look here's that stuff and now you're done hurray
