@DrDhand the problem here in the US is that going about interviewing doctors isn’t part of the process. In other words doctors don’t give interviews. You choose one and hope for the best, and then you can interview them and if you don’t like them you’re back to square one.
What would be great would be some sort of community or network of doctors that think like you. That way we know we have good doctors and can pick based on other more practical factors.

      Hello, question for you, doctor...
Have you noticed that any other diagnosis with an "ia" at the end of it, i.e. anorexia, bulimia, etc. seemed to be treated as if they should be helped to stop that particular "self distortion" that can get in the way of healthy living within society and yet, today, a man wearing makeup is a woman suddenly and can tell the whole world WE must support this "self distortion" and if we don't, the government and medical field say we're the problem?

Regrettably actual Doctors are out of touch with their patients!! I have been working on the medical public sector for over 16 years in Dominican Republic and let me tell you that is not a problem only in usa!! But everywhere ( medicine has become too comercial) and money is the key word for every specialty!! And it seems to get worse with new generations!! As a teacher it amazes me to see how the new generations perceive me ( sort of a monk) the regular question is!! But you could be rich in the private sector!?? Yes!! But the hole point was to treat the sick both physically and mentally ( as a third generation of very poor Doctors in my family but rich in friendships and trust from my Patients I can say that the best honor in life is to be able to serve another person in need!!

I was on a lot of prescription meds up until about 6 years ago. I was given meds for anxiety, depression, sleep, pain, stomach issues, skin problems and many more. My then GP handed out pills like lollies. I am totally pharmaceutical free now and have never felt better. I totally believe they kept me feeling ill.

Almost impossible to find that kind of doctor in the USA. It’s a monopoly. Finding a doctor is not easy. My doctor retired. I was transferred to another doctor from the same practice. When I called for appointment to get my prescriptions, the office said they don’t have any appointments for next six months. When I asked them to give me refills, they said they can’t do that unless the new doctor sees me first. They then advised me to go to urgent care to get my prescriptions filled. I could go on. The medical care in the USA really sucks. When supply side is limited and controlled, the consumer is lucky if they find a doctor.

Dr. Dhand, Thanks for the suggested questions to elicit a truthful response. In my 76 years I have found a handful of doctors with compassion and empathy for the patient and they were mostly primary care physicians. I have found such caring attributes extremely scarce with the specialist categories. Some are totally arrogant and prideful with no real concern for the patient especially in regard to informed consent and the patient's input.

Thanks for the heads up Dr Dhand. What you spoke about here is the same as an experience I had this week. My doctor and I talked about my involvement in lowering my very high cholesterol and reassuringly agreed with me that I can attempt to do it with my determination and with appropriate lifestyle changes. I left my consultation with her with a positive attitude, whereas when I had seen the pharmacist at the same practice a week previous she cited the numbers with a kind of shock in her tone and look. I left that meeting feeling down and worried. She expressed a negativity and saw statins as being the only answer to my results for elevated serum cholesterol. The difference in my feelings between the two meetings for the same test results was like chalk and cheese. My confidence that I can correct, or at least try to better, the condition was down to the doctors vibe, her attention, care, compassion, professionalism and vibe. Thanks for reinforcing this as being the basic principle underpinning good health care and patient wellbeing. It makes ALL the difference.

What I get from my doctor and the health care system is, if you're in pain or sick enough to see the doctor then go to the emergency clinic, other wise it's a three week wait. I had an over the phone "health assessment" with my insurance provider this week, 50 dollar gift card for doing it. 10 minutes and I'm not sure what the point of it was other than proving I'm healthy enough to answer the phone but for 50 bucks I'll play the game.

I had a PA who allowed me to go it alone mostly, even in a senior plan that "offered" constant tests "for prevention". When I refused to complete the ridiculous intake family questions on religious grounds, she spoke to me with a "helper" ( a psych person probably) and stood her silly ground---I refused to go back. Within the "system", all offices began forcing and pressuring me to fill out their forms better. I may have a terminal report or code in my records which flags me as mental or difficult. Simple Medicare allows me to go to the ER at will, and the ER's haven't tried to suck all information out of me. There should be a decline button. As with many, I too was one of the blind nurses once.

This was after my pill pusher required a mask to enter the office but would not give me a peer reviewed study or basis for why. But in the end we all need to Take Responsibility for our own healthcare and not leave it in the hands of the witch doctors currently running the system.

When a doctor wants you to take a new drug before he actually prescribes it he should talk to the patient saying things like 'I want you to take this drug. This is the reason why. With healthcare, like most things in life, we're on our own: each one of us has to make daily decisions about how best to build and maintain vitality. For acute cases, such as an automobile accident, the best we can hope for from the medical industry is a good technician to stop the blending, set a broken bone, etc. Even then, though, the healing process after initial trauma care is the responsibility of the individual.

Exercise and I hope you explore intermittent fasting. Put our Lord Jesus Christ first in everything you do and you will be justified and you will be at peace and you will be saved forever. Same here, I haven't seen a GP doctor or specialist who cares for over 20 years. Personally, I never have any health issues, and haven't been to a doctor since 2002. But I saw how badly my parents were treated by doctors in their later years. My dad was bounced around from specialist to specialist for 5-6 years. None of them found the root cause of his condition, all they did was run a bunch of expensive tests, and prescribe some new med that my Dad hadn't tried before. The last time I took him to the hospital emergency room, there was a woman doctor who to my surprise, actually listened to me describe in detail his symptoms and treatment over the last 6 years (My dad was too ill to speak for himself). She immediately said she thought she knew what the problem was, and did a simple test to confirm it. She was right. He had a pretty rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the arteries, restricting blood flow and causing extreme fatigue and stress on internal organs. He had all the symptoms for years, yet no other doctor bothered to do the test. Detected early, it's a treatable disease, but it was too late for my Dad, his internal organs were failing because of it, and he never made it out of the hospital again.

I’ve found sending regular anonymous written complaints to CQC ( an organisation run by many nurses) to be, very effective. Flagging up anything from appalling arrogant attitudes and lack of empathy from Dr’s to problems with receptionist’s, has been very effective. CQC Audit Drs surgeries once a year on average. If problems are flagged up by patients on the CQC website anonymously, it triggers a response from CQC. It still doesn’t find you the nice Dr, but it pulls the bad ones into line ASAP. Try it and see, it works.

But the right drugs are a life saver for many people with many different kinds of mental or physical health problems!!!! There are side effects!!! And there is other drugs to help with them! You must do the best you can about negative side effects! Negative side effects must be weighted against the Good the drugs are doing for you!!!! Sometimes the only teal treatment is meds! But to take a shot once a week to lose weight; and you don’t have to change your bad behavior that made you fat is really bad Bullshit medicine!!!! But if I get syphiliis I want that antibiotic!!!) also; ( IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!! With anything!!!! IT IS!!!!!!

Most consider 10 minutes to be a very long conversation.

Even when she prescribes antibiotics I give her the 3rd degree on whether it’s necessary or is my body capable of fighting this germ off by itself. One thing she said confused me. She said she had to write a script for something. I can’t remember what it was for but she said she knew I wouldn’t take it anyway but she said if she didn’t write it she could get in trouble for not doing her job.

@@HopefulEmpath lol. Yep I have been labeled non compliant too by other drs. I remember going to an ENT ( ear, nose, throat) dr because I had an enlarged parathyroid gland that was discovered after I had a car accident when they did a scan of my neck. Long story short the specialist wanted me to have some sort of mri with contrast. I refused, not only because I didn’t want the contrast, I just didn’t feel comfortable having the same guy who removes my ear wax doing surgery on me . Non compliant was written across my chart. He could see where it was from my hospital records. Long story short. I found a surgeon that I had confidence in. Told him no mri with contrast and he said he wasn’t even going to suggest it anyway explaining the surgery is the same only my incision would be in a different area. I had the surgery. All is well. Not even a scar because he made the incision in the fold my neck. I guess the moral of my story is find a doctor who listens and is willing to give you explanations.

My doctor (on the phone) was at least honest: “Oh, please don’t ask me that question, you are right, but I signed a letter of agreement with our health authorities, not to discourage any patient from the vaccine...or they suspend my license.”, the doctor said.

She said that she felt that about 50% of her class really didn't want to be doctors but after the four year investment didn't have the courage to back out. Do you feel that most doctors really would rather do something else? In the 70s-80s insurance company wrote generous disability plans for doctors because they thought that doctors would be highly motivated to continue work as doctors. What they found out is that many would rather take the disability benefits and change professions, which was a huge shock to the industry. I've found that many doctors don't care, and a few are sociopaths or psychopaths who want to harm their patients.
