I have now been told this very same thing by several medical professionals. NPs and PAs are way sharper in fact, because they do more work than MDs. They also tend to show more empathy and even ethics.
MDs (not all of course) after a while, they get lazy, apathetic, and greedy, completely forgetting the oath they took.

@@josephthompson3134@josephthompson3134, let me tell you, those PAs and NPs, they're humble, really humble. They stick to the guidelines, the algorithms, like they're supposed to. But the MDs? Oh, they think they're something else, believe me. They walk around acting like they know it all, thinking they're smarter than Einstein! Can you believe that? Total smarty pants, always acting like they're the smartest in the room. That's the difference, a huge difference!

Emergency medicine isn't always great either. Several years ago I tore my left distal tricep tendon. A bad injury. I went to an ER. They took x-rays. Gave me an ice pack, and 2 Percocet. The pain was bad. When they were about to release me I asked them if they were going to give me a script. Nope. Take Advil. This was over the Christmas holidays. My family doctor was closed. I had to wait several days to get in. The pain was so bad I couldn't sleep. My whole arm was black and blue. When I finally got in to see my NP. She couldn't believe they didn't give me any pain meds. By then the pain slightly diminished. She offered to give me something. I declined. I had to have surgery to have the tendon reattached. I understand hospitals don't like to give out opioids. but come on now.

You're correct. A good friend of mine took his mother-in-law to the local ER, and he told me they were wonderful. After they admitted her it was all downhill from there. They KNEW that they didn't have the facilities to treat her problem but admitted her anyway to suck up the Medicare money. She was transferred to a better facility but later died.

As a nurse with 28+ yrs experience in the ED I have had many doctors that I wouldn't let treat my dead dog if I had one...I have also had to fight to get the care my patients need and if the doctor didn't do what was needed i make sure that I chart I have spoken to the MD and no positive response has been reached...I feel many doctors today are caught between working to provide for their families and having to keep what is required by the corporations disguised as hospitals. Thank you Dr Dhand for your support and opinions...happy holidays to you and ypur family!

Don't forget the insurance companies. They would rather gate-keep services, hoping to wear you down before you get to the pricey ones that would cost less than the monkey-go-round, but most people either give up or die before then. Everything else about your service visit is structured by them, and the facilities book keepers and lawyers. Why do you think they ask those questions like when was your last pap smear and boob squish, when you go in for a wrist problem? UPSELL, and INSURANCE checklist.
Insurance above all, because those are the main payors.

    • @HeyYall398
      @HeyYall398 9 місяців тому +1

Love you lady! Listen up, I've got a story for you, and it's a good one, really good. Picture this: you've got your Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs), right? They're like the workers who built the great Trump Tower, following the blueprints, sticking to the plan. They're humble, so humble, they don't try to reinvent the wheel. They follow those guidelines, the algorithms, like it's their Bible.
But then, you've got your MDs, the so-called 'big brains'. Oh, they think they're on another level, like they're hosting 'The Apprentice' or something. They strut around, white coats flapping, acting like they've got all the answers. "Einstein? Please, we're smarter," they say. It's like they think they're playing 4D chess while everyone else is playing checkers.
One day, in walks this MD, right into the heart of Trump Tower. Thinks he's going to redesign the whole building on the spot. He's tossing aside the algorithms like they're yesterday's news, improvising like he's jazz musician. The PAs and NPs, they're watching, eyebrows raised, thinking, "What in the world?" But they're team players, so they go along with it, cautiously.
The story unfolds, and it's like a season finale - drama, tension, unexpected twists. The MD's freestyling, but then, whoops, hits a snag. Things aren't going as smoothly as he thought. The humble PAs and NPs, with their steady, by-the-book approach, they step in. They're like the cleanup crew at one of my incredible hotels, fixing the mess, getting things back on track.
In the end, what's the moral of the story? It's that sometimes, sticking to the script, following the proven path, that's the way to go. Sure, be smart, but don't think you're smarter than Einstein, especially when you're not. It's about balance, finding that perfect blend of humility and brains. That's how you build something truly great, truly Trumpian. And that, is a story worth remembering!

I will never forget the time a doctor told me that if I didn’t go to Walgreens and get vaccinated against Covid this minute, I’d be tied to a hospital bed put on a ventilator and how would I like that. I responded with nice to know that hospitals will tie you down against your will and do these horrible things to you. Be sure to tell me to stay away from them in future and from this day forward you and I part ways. I haven’t been back since. I had to call a crisis line because I became very suicidal. Having been through a traumatic experience, which resulted in the death of my brother, I did not appreciate being spoken to that way and it’s caused me to lose faith in all doctors. I have to think about it several times over before getting medical care of any kind and I’m not a healthy person. I am immune deficient. I shouldn’t have to be afraid to see one, but here we are.

Lots of veggies, complex carbs and protein. Add good oils such as olive oil and avocado oil. Make sure You're eating with good salts like sea salt or Himalayan salt. Take supplements such as multivitamins made from whole foods, Complex B vitamins, vitamins D3 & K2, Magnesium Glycinate, Ashwagandha. At the beginning of the pandemic, I upped our vitamin D3 intake until our levels were high (husband's 90 ng/ml, mine 69). His symptoms were like a mild cold, mine like severe flu. Also diffused 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide in 4 oz water with breathe easy essential oil blend. Did same treatments for my neighbors, who were 79 and 80 in 2022, August. They recovered in 2 weeks. 33 years with what was supposedly 'Fibromyalgia' and all I was prescribed was cyclobenzaprine, Neurontin and he tried antidepressants, telling me they were for pain and nothing ever controlled my pain. Over 3 dozen doctors and not one helped me. By their negligence I lost everything I worked hard for all my life. My children grew up without a mother and these doctors didn't care at all. Finally, I have a nurse practitioner who listens to me, doesn't judge me, truly cares and I've just had a blood test showing I have an autoimmune disease. Fibro can't be detected. By my symptoms which are the same that I had starting out 33 years ago, it looks like i have Lupus. That can be controlled with the right medicine. Neurontin almost caused me to wreck in our car and kill 4 of us. That stuff is dangerous. I had to give up driving because of that drug. That doctor is online receiving good reviews. What a joke! So much for the other "medical experts!!" We have to do our own research today because doctors do not care about their patients like they're supposed to. Except for the few here on UA-cam. Thank God for them. Pastor Charles Lawson preached a sermon about a man who is arrogant and full of pride is a fool. And they were. When you think you know everything, you don't know nothing.

Thank you for supporting PA and NP professions. As a second career ( and now retired PA) I absolutely loved practicing medicine. Most of the physicians I worked with were great and we all got along. I started practicing at age 48 until I retired at 63 ( due to taking care of my late husband who had a progressive terminal condition). I was a dietitian for 25 years before becoming a PA. I worked as a PA in rural and underserved areas in the upper Midwest and on native American reservations. It was a privilege to serve all my patients. You are so correct about the medical education in modern times.....half of it is old and outdated info. I decided to stay retired after the pandemic since I didn't want the shot in the arm and lost all faith in the CDC and FDA, who I at one time thought were legit. I would, however, collaborate with a physician like you, since we seem to share similar values. Yes, I eat blueberries every day!

Fully, concur. NPs and PAs tend to be more collaborative and are less threatened by patients who have done some preliminary research. After working as an RN in the medical system, and having personal experiences with Medical Doctors, I now see a Naturopath for all of my health needs. It is so much better. She gives me at least a full hour of her undivided attention every time I see her. Whatever treatment I receive, it is always gentle and non invasive. She works with me and takes the time to get to know who I am and what my needs are. She addresses all of my needs -- emotional, spiritual and physical. Caring for my health in this way has actually helped me become much more sensitive and intuitive to my body's needs. In fact I don't even need to see my Naturopath very often anymore. I'm much more in tune with my body now and I feel much more in control of my own health and well being.

After not only working in THAT "healthcare system" for so long, but, ALSO being a "patient" of said "system" and becoming progressively sicker during the last 30 years, the ONLY THING that vastly improved AND RESTORED my health literally saving my life was strictly adhering to an organic diet and completely eliminating pharmaceutical poisons from my body.

I have gone to NPs since the early 90s and love the compassion and time given by an NP. I knew when I was in nursing school that would be my ultimate goal. After 18 years of bedside nursing I became a nurse practitioner. I love to hear when my patients are thankful for the time and attention given. I have learned this through years of nursing practice, watching other providers in my own personal life and taking the advice from my mentors. In a time when healthcare has become so much more about money and higher volumes it’s rare to find providers who take the time to give their patients what they need. I am in a specialty so my circumstance is definitely different than those in primary care or some specialties that have a high volume of patients.

The Love of money is the root of all evil
      1 Timothy 6:10

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.❤❤

I love my N. P. he sits down and talks to me about my health a long time. No doctor has ever done that. There are no doctors in my town.

I agree with you. I don't have a pcp. I have been looking for one and every doctor in my area is not accepting new patients over the age of 18.

@@johnnalussier1702 ~ I'm not sure if this will help, but check to see if there my be a "patient advocate" at your nearest hospital. Our hospital had a stack of leaflets in the waiting area with a picture of a gal who was their "Patient Advocate" .. and across the top it read ... "Are you looking for a new Doctor? .... let me help!" You could also Google the term 'Patient Advocate near me'...Or with a zip code, or closest city. Good luck!

I was a medical secretary & Spanish translator in 2 different pediatric EDs in my 20s, these were teaching hospitals & two of the doctors kept a list on them at all times of what residents they could make cry. These men did way more than that but they had so many children’s lives in their hands. It made me look at doctors very differently after that.

I so so believe in what u say...It is nothing but truth
As a medical student myself...I feel , this system has got so toxic FOR BOTH DOCTORS AND THEIR PATIENTS that it can barely survive

Facts! I stopped seeing doctors except for my chiropractor. Most doctors I've dealt with in my lifetime are very insecure and don't listen. I was accused of being an internet doctor for being active in my own health! My primary care doctor REFUSED to listen to anything I tried to tell her about food as medicine.

From Leo: I have nothing personally against any of the NP's or PA's I have seen. My beef is that the specialist wants me to come in for an appointment, then the PA sees me, takes my blood pressure, asks if I have any problems and sends me home. Then the hospital bills me $545 for an office visit with a specialist.

Thank you so much for your honesty on the medical profession. I thank goodness for doctors like you who aren’t afraid to tell the everyday person what’s really going with doctors/ patients.
I myself have been gaslighted on more than one occasion by doctors over the years ….but it’s only now I realise. My current doctor is sadly far from good but I’m not going to let him fob me off anymore thanks to your advice. Thank you again!

Dr. Dhand, you are a rockstar! I much prefer NP's and PA's to regular MD's, but you still gotta be careful. They don't always know better. I've had a PA diagnose my shingles based on a sore on my nose, which was awesome. When I looked it up, I was like, "I'll be damned; that's a thing."
On the flip side, I had a PA try to prescribe me cipro for a uncomplicated UTI in 2018. I think it was 2013 or thereabouts when the FDA came out and said not to prescribe fluoroquinolones except as a last resort b/c of the risks. I asked for nitrofurantoin and I got it.
And I had a NP suggest a lyme test when I had a tick bite (and fever and chills a few days later). I said, "Isn't it true that early on when it's easily treated, the test might be negative?" She said, "Yes, that's true. Do you just want me to prescribe you some doxy?" I said yes, got the doxy, and my fever broke after the first dose. However, my friend's husband went to the same NP, she talked him into a lyme test, which came back negative, and my friend had to call and beg them several days later to call him in some doxy b/c he was getting worse! Same woman, and this happened AFTER I had seen her.
And this same NP prescribed ORAL vancomycin for my friend's MRSA infection. Our infectious disease doc told her to go the hospital and she would put in an order for IV vanc.
On the plus side, NP's and PA's have less ego, and don't get so upset when you challenge them.
I think modern medicine, especially in the US is completely f*^&@ed. I have knowledge as I work in the clinical lab field, but I feel bad for people who don't know any better and do what these morons tell them.

I believe that you are spot on about medicine here in the US. It is a sad situation that there is no longer trust in the doctors. I have a primary care doctor but when I have been treated by a PA or a Nurse Practitioner I have been very pleased with my experience. Thank you for sharing.
