    Just a bit of advice... you're supposed to tilt the machine back, then set the digger depth, then lower the machine back down and let the digger settle to depth.... not pushing on the depth lever as shown around 02:00

    I love the commentary, the real life cuss words and the comment “these guys where not a lot of help” and the dogs were chilling on the porch. Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

    So...good attempt. It's not easy to do a run like that by yourself. An easier way to do a DIY cable cable pull once your conduit is in place, is to get some Dawn dish soap. mix 1 to 1 with water, and put in a spray bottle and spray the head and the cables every 5 or 6 feet if necessary. Only use a water based lubricant. NO GREASE or petroleum lubricants.
    Next...and this is the important part, don't tie all your cable ends into one point. When I pull cables...especially through conduit, we stagger them with electrical tape about every 2 to three feet. It causes way less friction, and it becomes a one person job at that point.

    I am running wire for my kids Tuesday and renting a trencher from my local lumber co. Praying I can get two trenches ran 1 for water line and another for power pole to home 🤞 it will be interesting but since I am determined and have a hole day rental I won’t stop till I get it done, thanks for the vid

    I guess I should feel lucky I only had to go 10 feet to get power for my pavilion.
    It was for lights and fan. And water cooler
    We built it about the same time. We also have cement footer around it With Pavers In the center of the figure eight

    The difference in cost for the next size bigger conduit is usually well worth a couple dollars and running the same size wire the whole way probably would cost you the same price not having to add a box and make connections to smaller wire that is not rated for the voltage drop yet part of the circuit. It was fun to watch though. I'm glad your string didn't break. You were so close! Love the banjo sounds coming from that maxed out pull string! he he

      I was having a hard time finding any conduit when I did this or I may have gone a size up. I think with one less turn it may have been much easier.

      @@bryansprojects3570 Something that might have made pulling the wire easier: at the entrance, just poor the whole bottle of lubricant into the pipe. It will slowly spread itself on the wires. The amount you used on the wires was probably worn off by the time it got 30 ft. You don't have to worry about it making a mess because it dries within a day.

    Not an electrician but I've done a similar project running power to my shed. I just used 10 ga wire for a 15 amp circuit about 200 feet. I pulled the wire one through piece of conduit at a time. At work they use a winch to pull heavy ga wire. The online wire size calculators are pretty conservative but at least you can run whatever you like out there now!

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  3 роки тому

      I played around with the wire calculators and still came back to this size for a 20 amp circuit. I probably should have gone with a 1" conduit. It really wasn't that hard to pull I think having a teenager on the other end did not help, pushing the wire makes a big difference. We have had to use a forklift at work to pull big wire too.

    pulling the coax barrel into the conduit is kind of dubious. If it fills with water, it will fail. I'd have pulled some cat5 to setup a wifi hotspot too. Also, I favor using one size conduit larger than you think necessary because of pull dificulties like were had. On a commercial project, I can see being more judicious with conduit cost.

      I did this project during the age of COVID and supplies were hard to find so I had to use what I could find, there was no 1" available anywhere. By the time I got around to installing the TV I ended up changing course and using the coax as a pull wire and pulled in cat5 and set up another wireless point and used a Roku device for the TV. There is a video that covers some of that in The Backyard Pavilion series.

    Dang it, I wish you would have pulled the wire at the same time you were adding additional pieces of conduit in the trench

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  3 роки тому +1

      It probably would have been easier but I did not have the wire at the time and I wanted to get the conduit in the ground before the rain we were forecasted to get.

      In this case I did not. I didn't get a permit for the pavilion and I am not sure if I needed one or not. I did not want open a can of worms. I deal with a lot of industrial electrical work at my day job so I think it should be correct and safe.

    I’m about to embark on a similar project, need to run power to my driveway. Bought 3/4 conduit for 6 gauge, need 40 amps. Terminal is probably 100ft from my breaker panel, exactly 50 of which is through my front yard. I’m wondering if maybe I should have gone up a size for my conduit, but I already thought I was being generous. Other question I wondered was, how did you get the thing to your house from Home Depot? Do you have a truck? I have a crossover SUV (my reason for the project; it’s an EV I want to charge at home), I’m looking at the same trencher and thinking it would probably fit but I can’t lift it in or out, and not sure I want it dirtying up my cabin anyway). I have a tow hitch and was thinking a utility trailer, but the costs are adding up, would I need the more expensive trailer that has a loading ramp? Appreciate any insight, having a hard time researching this particular aspect.

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  3 роки тому +1

      I kind of wish I could have gone a size bigger in conduit but it and the fittings were hard to find. We have an enclosed utility trailer so that is what I used to get it home. The deck is only about a foot off the ground so I was able to get it in and out by myself. I would think you could rent a trailer relatively cheap for a day.
