- I got my EWOKS in this movie!! 🥳 they are just as cute as I remember them from when I was a kid 😂 I didn't realize they were such a huge part of this movie but I loved them! What a great movie to wrap up this part of the series 💃🏻

I was 13 Years old in 1977 when I saw Star wars and was 16 years old in 1980 when I saw Star Wars Episode v in the Movie Theatre and was 19 years old in 1983 when I saw Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
Anakin Skywalker was the Jedi who returned Luke hinted at that when he told the Emperor he was a Jedi Like his Father before him. Everyone in the Movie theatre was shocked and gasped when it was revealed that Princess Leia was Luke's Twin Sister.
Everyone in the Movie Theatre cheered when Darth Vader Turned on the Emperor and threw him down the shaft. In the original version Darth Vader does not yell no. He is just silent as he looks back and forth before grabbing the Emperor. In the original the Force Ghost of Anakin was the older actor who played Darth Vader in the Suit. After the Prequels were released, they changed the force ghost of Anakin to the younger Anakin.
Boba Fett was the bounty hunter from the last film who tracked down the Millennium Falcon to Cloud City and brought frozen Han Solo to Jabba.
Vader died because when he picked up the emperor, the dark side lightning rained down on him, ruining his life support apparatus.
Also, the only feelings the emperor knows are hatred and control and manipulation. Anakin was reborn and saved Luke out of an act of love for his son. The emperor doesn't know the feelings of love so he didn't sense the oncoming attack. If Vader would have done it out of an act of hatred, the emperor would have sensed it coming immediately and would have put him down.

In the timeline, this takes place a year after the last one. Luke had been practicing and training on his own, growing stronger even without Yoda’s guidance.
In the 90s, there was a multimedia story that took place during that year before ROTJ that featured a novel, a comic series, a video game, action figures and even a soundtrack album; everything but a movie. It was called Shadows of the Empire and it elaborated on what happened between the 2 films.
George Lucas has stated that even off screen Luke had gone back to train to Dagobah with Yoda at least in one separate time before ROTJ, after TESB.

@@ProfDanielVargas you will have to provide a source on this. And all these decades, I have never heard George Lucas say that in any kind of interview or behind-the-scenes book. It would make no sense for Luke to wait until his second visit to Yoda to ask him if Darth Vader is his father.

There was no CGI in the 70s and early 80s. It was all practical effects. Any CGI in this trilogy was added when the movies were rereleased in the 90s.

Fun fact Obi-Wan was in the emperor's throne room when Vader saved Luke. He was even surprised, he thought Anakin was gone and only Vader remained and Luke proved him wrong and everyone else that there was still good in him. That's why Anakin became a Force ghost, Obi-Wan had one last lesson for him and taught him how to do that and admitted to him that he was wrong and that he was his friend.

Good question! Luke is still learning to use the Force, so a huge, primitive creature like the Rancor is a huge threat. Luke couldn't control its primitive but strong mind, so he had to outsmart it.

Remember that even Luke not fully trained in Empire strikes back could call the lightsaber back into his hand at Bespin.
As I mentioned last time, at the end of Empire, when Luke calls out with the Force and Leia hears him, my girlfriend and I turned to each other and said the same 3 words. I can now reveal those words: "She's his sister!"
Back in the day there wasn't the same ability to speculate as there is now so we had to wait 3 long years to be proved right.

Keep in mind that the next film takes place before the empire, so there is emperor or rebel alliance yet. The ruling government is the Republic which is governed by a galactic senate made up of representatives from all the member planets. The leader of the senate is the Supreme Chancellor, who is like the prime minister or president of the galaxy.
There is no military in the Republic there has been peace for 1000 years. Instead, the peace is kept by the Jedi Knights, who protect and serve the Republic but exists apart from it either its own separate leadership, rules and traditions. Centuries before, their ancient enemies, the Dark Lords of the Sith, used the dark side of the Force to try to conquer the galaxy but the Jedi exterminated them.
By the time of Episode 1, the Senate has become corrupt and ineffective. Senators are bribed by large and powerful corporations who even have their own members of Congress. One of these large corporations is the Trade Federation, the apparent villains of the story. But they are secretly in cahoots with a mysterious, familiar-looking figure whose existence not even the Jedi are aware of.

That's the emperor's way to keep Vader in line.
In a comic episode Vader have tried to overthrow the emperor but was stopped by the Force lightning so he knew what would happen if he ever tried it again.
That's why he was so conflicted to intervene.

That's Mon Mothma, the main leader and the founder of the rebel alliance after realizing she couldn't defeat supreme chancellor Palpatine (the emperor before the days of the Empire) in a political way as a senator.
Something that didn't really hit me until I was older: the Jedi who "Returns" in Return of the Jedi is not Luke, it's Anakin.
The movie was initially titled Revenge of The Jedi and the first trailer had that title. Someone then said to George Lucas that a Jedi(Luke)would not seek revenge. Then the title was changed to Return....
It's Anakin, Luke, and the Jedi Order.
Interestingly, in German the movie is called "Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter" (Return of the Jedi Knights), which led to me interpreting the original title as well only as plural for a very long time: "Return of the Jedi" meaning the return of the Jedi as a concept, as an existing order, after nearly being destroyed and the galaxy being ruled by the Sith.
When I realized that you can interpret the original title as singular as well, "Return of the Jedi" specifically meaning the return of Anakin Skywalker, my mind was kinda blown.
52:32 the hate which kept Vader alive was a harness secured by the Emperor’s life force, and since Anakin Returned and killed the Emperor by bringing balance to the force he released the harness of anger which enslaved him to the dark side leaving him the way he was at the end of episode three after the fight with Ben Kenobi which was good. The good part of Anakin was redeemed, but there wasn’t a lot left of him.
In regards to your question about if the plan was only this trilogy - no George Lucas had more story but started with the first movie of this trilogy because as he has stated he knew what he wanted to do with the prequels (Episodes I, II, III) but he couldn't do it technically/special effects wise at the time. So that's why he started with the first film in this trilogy and Luke's story. There was was about 20 years in between the first movie's release and the making of the prequels so things had come a long way and he could do more of what he envisioned for Episodes I, II, and III.
And George Lucas didn't think the first movie in this trilogy would do well in theaters and didn't think the next movie would even ever be made so he didn't stick around. He went away on vacation with his family and his friend Steven Spielberg during the initial release. He and Spielberg came up with the Indiana Jones concept on that vacation. And as we know now George was wrong about whether the movie would, ultimately, do okay.
As for Vader's death. Vader's suit is essentially a life support system and when he disposed of the Emperor the suit was damaged by the lightning.

The emperor is not like what you think. Hes one of best swordsman of all time, if not the best. Very dangerous and powerful. The fact he has Vader under control says quite alot
He moves extremely fast so it's hard to keep up. ROTS didn't show it very well, but the Clone Wars cartoon definitely showed off his skills, even dual wielding.

About the prequels, opinions are very mixed for fans, some like them & some hate them. I liked them, because we get to see many things that they talk in the OT, but didn't see (Jedis before they disappeared, A young Obi-Wan apprentice with his jedi master, and his master's master if you pay attention, the complete backstory on how Anakin became Vader, the emperor's rise to power, and more). Some parts are long to watch, bcs there is more politics to explain how the old Galactic Republic fell and morphed into the Empire, but the Prequels give a good explanation of the events leading to the OT. Have a nice day. Can't answer any of your questions without spoiling you, so I 'll only tell you: watch episodes 1-2-3, everything is in there. One detail: take notes if you don't have a good memory-with the jedis still alive, you have a lot more characters in there, and you'll visit more strange worlds and planets. About what happened to Vader, same thing: episode 3. I can't give a clear answer without ruining the plot for you, so you'll have to watxh the prequels. I don't like to spoil too much, and I feel that I already said enough to give you the desire to watch them, but no more from me.
To tell you when Luke saw a vision of vader and cut off his head in the Dagobah system in The Empire Strikes Back and showed the face of luke that is what he could of become like vader as the emperors right hand! Showing his future was to warn him not to become like his Father! I think so at least! That is what the emperor wanted all along to at least i think throw vader away and luke become the new apprentice!

1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue.
2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it through Luke.
Luke didn't know that until just before then.
3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape.
4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related.
5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han.
6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13.
"Willow" is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share.
7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast.
8. Carrie Fisher said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba.
9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy.
10. Ford wanted Han to die in the last episode.
11. IMVHO this is the best of the original six George Lucas Star Wars. After the first six he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly

Also darth vader died because when he threw the emperor over and died the emperors force lightning weakened darth vader one last time! he had punishment for failing the emperor countless times! In comic books and novels etc with the force lightning ! I also believe Anakin was back not vader a few minutes before he died! he came back as one with the force with something star wars calls A force ghost!
