So do you own the Property for the struck off amount? Or do you still have to pay back taxes and leins. Also, after you aquire the Property through the struck off list, are you on the title clean and clear? Or do you still have to chase ppl down to satisfy chain of title.
Hello Jay, Stuck off is a term used in Texas to describe the over the counter deeds. But with either Texas or most other States, when you buy the property OTC the amount should include any back taxes. So, in most cases you wont need to pay any back taxes. But you could still be responsible for any other governmental liens like a city grass cut lien. You will own the property free and clear - but you wont have a warranty deed. So, if you want to sell the property to someone that needs to get financing, you will need to hire an attorney to take the deed through quiet title. Once finishing quiet title you can sell the property like any other. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.. Stephen

I told her that I understood the struck off properties are able to be purchased outside the auction over the counter. Is this correct?

I even see tax liens for sale on Ebay. Are they worth buying? Could it be that their interest rate is almost nothing? What does one need to watch out for?
Its possible, but its always pretty risky. Many of the tax lien eBay sellers are buying OTC tax liens on junk property and then selling them. Its important to always look into the back taxes - to see how many other years of delinquent taxes are listed on the property. Its always about looking into the number and most the time the numbers don't work out on eBay tax liens. Thanks for watching.... Stephen
Honestly, not much. You just need to do your due diligence and make sure you know what you're buying. It CAN be challenging to buy in some counties. For example I have received surplus properties lists in NC and they have to be approved by the county manager before I can make offers. I've been waiting weeks.

Most people invest from outside there own area investing in Online Auctions and OTC property. So you can really do this from anywhere.. Stephen
