    Thank you for the explanation. The whole thing makes more sense now. I was able to see Neo Japonism at an anime convention last year. I had to tell my friend I had no idea what I was getting into. I tried to talk to those crazy guys who cheer for the idols. But they were cheering so hard, it was a great time. Then I went to a Miku show this year and I will be seeing Atarashii Gakko later this year.

      @@JohnSmith-fe6xk I'm the cohost of The Human Instrumentality Podcast, and we just did a season on the director Satoshi Kon. His debut "Perfect Blue" takes place in the 90s idol industry, so this video was very helpful context.

    I find the history of Idol genre to be interesting. I also find it interesting how there are a lot of Joshi Wrestlers that were/still are idols.

    I've heard of idols for a while now and thanks to many anime shows and the songs (plus my kids watching them), the idol genre has grown on me. Rather an interesting story
    And yes, I'm a fan of Babymetal
