My wife and I just returned from the island of Moorea. We stayed for a week at the Hilton Resort on one of the over the water bungalows. It was the trip of a lifetime. We swam with the humpback whales, black tipped reef sharks, rays and sea turtles.
4:59 I like the fact that the closest way to get to Tahiti from Paris is to fly over Greenland.
Like every flights from the US West Coast to Europe :)
A trolly in saint Denis is faster
By far some of my favorite tropical islands I've ever visited. Also Tahiti itself isn't that expensive. Definitely cheaper than Hawaii, and a restaurant meal is no more expensive than the Northeast or West Coast.
Ironically I found trying to prepare my own food didn’t save me any money. So I always ate at food trucks and restaurants
Having a non-stop flight from California is pretty nice too. There's also many Airbnbs to select from and the corals are relatively more healthier than Hawaii. Well, Hawaii is a complete coral dead zone for marine life now.
@@BudiandLeo Haven't been to Hawaii, going in November, but I can tell you the reefs in saw in Tahiti and Moorea are far healthier than anything in the Caribbean.
It's an absolute dream and goal to be able to endlessly travel the world whenever I please. That would be amazing. Imagine being able to see all of these places in person and experience it. I really think some of these places seem like heaven on earth / paradise.
great video just as a cookisland/tahitian, slight changes could be the pronounciation of things such as Tahitian being (ta-hi-shian) or Papeete being (Pa-pe-e-te) and not papeet. but apart from just that, I really loved the video. Its so nice to see more indepth videos of our ancestral home.
As a a grand son of a Tahitian, I’ve lived there and I love it there. So beautiful and people are so nice too
Did you farm any mangoes?
French people can fly “direct “ from Paris with a stopover in LA they would never ever fly via Amsterdam. That makes absolutely no sense.
The flag shows a catamaran not a canoe (read about Kon Tiki by Thor Hyerdahl), French fly CDG to LAX to Papeete, which you cannot pronounce
My dream vacation spot
Mine too.
Love French Polynesia from Morocco
🇲🇦❤🇵🇫
Mount Orohena is on the island of Tahiti but you showed a photo of the distinct Mount Rotui on Mo’orea.
Most Beautiful part of the world by a mile ❤
I have a plan to go to Tahiti. I just need money. And some faith.
And a damn plan arthur
One more score
This April I stayed in Tahiti for two nights and I spent one night in Mo'orea. Absolutely beautiful, I loved swimming with the sharks and sting rays off the coast of Mo'orea.
(EDIT) After seeing some comments, yes I can say this is heaven on earth
Would love to go here
Me too
Bro said dont go throught australia then measured from perth instead of sydney
2:47 is Parlatuvier, Tobago in the southern Caribbean.
Glad to finally get some spotlight on this place, it looks stunnin, I wonder what they'd call the nation if it ever went independent
the newly conquered nation :) Dont fool yourself French Polynesia will never be independent its the only land mass right in the middle of the pacific ,the place is too strategically valuable to be left alone !
@@calgar42k Eh they could do something similar to Micronesia where they have a defense-pact with France; A lot of pacific island nations are already sort of like that (like with some of NZ's free-association countries.)
@@randomchannel1519 forget it France will never surrender New Caledonia and Tahiti , first as stated their strategic value is extremly high they are prepositionned nuclear installations and they have a huge EEZ ! and if any ressources is found on Zelandia the submerged continent you can bait they wil claim at least 50 % of its EEZ too !
wouldn't the closest country be nz because the cook islands are a VERY autonomous region of nz?
this is my dream vacation
I've found flights from New York to Papeete for as low as $613 on Skyscanner.
Deployments and duty stations are not the same thing 6:30
One of the many still existing French colonies.
No
5:53 they dropped 193 nuclear bombs between 1966 and 1996. The fallout would hit tahiti, thousands died as a result of the radioactivity and over a hundred thousand were effected.
A big thanks to the French system, which helps maintain the wealth of this remote Pacific island.
When asked where I want to retire to, I always say: French Polynesia.. Lol.. I'll more likely stay in Florida...😢 Maybe a visit someday
Damn sorry buddy 😢😢 get some job and make money so you can make your dreams
The picture at the beginning is Not mount arohena in Tahiti this is mount rotui in moorea!!!
WOW WOW WOW SUPERBE SUPERBE SUPERBE !!!
Not a fan of how quiet this was. Made the ads super annoying. Still great content though.
I will go there but i will not return because i can only affore one way ticket
😮
oh my الله why did you go from PERTH
Slight correction, I doubt it's expensive buying oranges in Paris, Paris is expensive because of its property and services sectors
I've been living in Paris for 4 years now and yes fruit (like groceries in general but fresh produce in particular) is quite expensive if you don't go to specific supermarkets like Lidl or Aldi.
I expect oranges in Polynesia to cost 6/7 € per kilo, in that case better sticking to coconuts :)
A place where they don’t want us to visit
Wow! History begins when Europe learns about it?
1:41 You should’ve learn how to pronounce Tahitian😂 before making a video, wouldn’t that be like one of the first steps?😂
Did Marlon Brando buy an island there?
Marlon Brando. He buy the island of Tetiaroa in French Polynesia.
They had indiegenous people?
As a French, French Polynesia is one of the most beautiful regions of my country 🇨🇵 Love the Polynesian culture too
Only a Frenchman would declare a colony on the opposite side of the world to be just another region of their country.
@@AL-lh2ht it legally is a part of France. I have just returned from New Caledonia which is also a part of France. They are not colonies.
@@AL-lh2ht The people who live in French Polynesia ARE french and they can vote during election. So no this is not a colony unlike Puerto Rico, which is a US colony
@@gabriellescur4085 If France rejected their bid for independence in 2013, I’m sure the polynesians don’t wanna be French 😭.
As expected, claiming things which are not yours as YOURS. How European , how colonist
ta-hee-shun
I love that it is part of the EU :D
But I hate it takes 5 years to get to it :(
It s not part of the EU however French Guyana the French Antilles and Reunion are part of the EU which is ridiculous if you want my opinion.
@@lioneldemun6033 not ridiculous at all considering they french departments

france is one of the closest countries to au.
France close to Australia? 😂
@@australien6611 yep, new caledonia
@@leosimon241and France also borders Brazil 😅

The French annexed the Kingdom of Tahiti in 1880. Before Tahiti was under English domination for 1 century under the Pomare dynasty. Tahiti was an independent kingdom, we had four kings and one queen. We have to stop lying about our history. The number of inhabitants in Tahiti and its islands is 304,032 in 2021
First ❤
Good video, but please don't pronounce Tahitian like this
Decent video but you only explained the European history - what about the history of the other 80% of the population? Also as others said, maybe work harder on the pronunciation
Lol, it's a video about FRENCH Polynesia😂

What on Earth is French Polynesia? The place where Justin Bueber showed his butt
Ayo i am first
Don't say "comprises of". That's ways wrong. It's the equivalent of saying "consists of of".
They are literary the same thing
ONLY 30 letters in the alphabet. and ONLY 8 vowels...
Im actually quit dissapointed in terms of language
Its not a Country its for now a french territory
It speak 3/4 french not Fully Polynesian.
You don’t see that much polynesian culture back. Its now more christian.
If i see my favourite movie which is Moana (most beautifull polynesian movie you will see)
Im quit dissapointed how most polynesian islands are in terms of culture.
Im also quit surprised why Hawaii is not its own country now
It was its own country and was a kingdom.
Now its a Fricking State of the USA and is one of the largest and only place you can find Polynesian culture.
So Hawaii PLEAAASSEE become independent again.
It would be sooo cool
You had to work as slave for the USA on sugar fields
Now most of your country is bombed by the USA and you even have memorial from the colonised that you weren’t even involved.
PLEASE BECOME INDEPENDENT
Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands, Niue, the Marquesas, the Tuamotus... and you talk to yourself about Hawai'i as a kind of aircraft carrier of Polynesian culture? Already these are the Polynesian cultures and your comment exudes ignorance, I am Tahitian through my mother and Hawaiian through my father and what you say about Hawaiian culture is completely false. A culture is not just entertainment, a show to entertain tourists, and Hawaii you have almost that. A culture that lives on a daily basis and not only during shows, otherwise the general aspect of Hawaii is very American. the fact is that the Hawaiian culture seems better preserved because it almost disappeared, much of the ancestral culture is lost and the natives of Hawaii fiercely preserve what is left of it. This is not the case in Samoa or Tonga where the original culture is almost intact, in French Polynesia there are different Polynesian cultures depending on the archipelagos, but the most popular being that of the Society Islands (Tahiti), the largest ancient Polynesian cultural ceremony has taken place every year in Tahiti and its islands since 1881 (Heiva i Tahiti). the fact of having seen Moana does not make you an expert in Polynesian cultures and the history of our peoples, you simply speak of Hawai'i because it is the most famous Polynesian culture after that of Aotearoa and Tahiti i guess.
Thank you for your interest and advice. We do a lot to keep our culture alive while being open to the rest of the world. What we don’t want is to become a tourist attraction park like Hawaii, or suffer a cultural genocide like in Australia or New Zealand. Come visit our islands, we will welcome you with pleasure to make you discover our Polynesian culture, very diverse and very lively.
