So I watched the IMAX version today and it was AMAZING! I LOVE this movie. I would have 100% bought it on 4k, but no Imax on the 4k bluray is a *deal breaker* to me. They literally cut away a ton of the movie and beautiful cgi and composition!! Without Imax I imagine it looking VERY wrong like youre missing..very much :((

I’ll stick with the IMAX ENHANCED version on DISNEY+, I have a 4K/3D Combo Pack coming from Japan 🇯🇵 next month unfortunately 3D Blu-ray is presented in 2.39:1 but I’m still grateful to own a 3D copy.
Also got SPIDER MAN: NO WAY HOME coming on 3D Blu-ray next month so can’t wait for that either
Cheers Shane. This one had an excellent 3D conversion so, for those who still care about the format, the Japanese 4k/3D combo release will be the one to get.
When can we look forward to some new reviews from the 3D bunker??? Looking forward to it! And what were your thoughts on Multiverse of Madness' 3D? My initial impression was that the 3D was even better than the first Dr. Strange, which many consider to be the gold standard for Marvel 3D (For myself, Thor: Ragnarok is the gold standard in 3D overall, but Multiverse was certainly impressive!)
@@rig-zag Hey Rig-Zag, good to hear from you. What can I say, I'm just naturally lazy! Agree, I thought Multiverse of Madness had superb 3D, definitely worth the high price for the 3D Blu-ray. Love and Thunder (or, "Guns and Roses" as it might as well have been called), on the other hand, which I saw today, had a pretty disappointing and unexciting 3D conversion unfortunately, nowhere near as good as Ragnarok's sadly.

However, I will be looking forward to more of your detailed, insightful and eloquent reviews in the future. As for Thor, that's disheartening to hear. Im going to see it in the next couple days and had high expectations, as over the top 3D would make sense for such an over the top movie (in every sense). Plus the bright color schemes work well to diminish the dreaded "darkening effect" of 3D glasses.

Typical Disney compressing the audio, I just don't know why they do it. I will always go with the disc, I cancelled my sub to Disney+. I don't care for compression. Nice review Shane.
I don't understand why Disney still insists on completely neutering the audio tracks on these Marvel movies. Civil War was probably the last one that still had decent volume levels and impactful bass. Infinity War and Endgame are two of the only movies that I've ever turned up my receiver to about -7.5dB to get roughly the same kind of volume and impact as -17.5 on other movies. Looks like this one would be about the same.
Just received my 3D copy from Japan today. This is one of the best looking 3D movies out there!!! Impressive!

No way in hell the 4k disc is 6db louder than streaming it in Disney+. You should try 10db lower than streaming from disney+

Currently watching the disk I have to say the bass isn't that bad
I won't be buying any more MCU physical Blu-ray's till they release the IMAX Enhanced ones there. Knowing Disney they'll re-release all these with IMAX Enhannced down the road so we all have to double dip. I have a Disney+ subscription, and a Plex server (not related to each other) so that's all I'll say haha. Hopefully one day Disney will take my money for them to be properly released. Great review as always!

The Imax version on disney plus looked great. The disc will be solid as well but this is another signature disney dolby atmouse! Mostly getting it for the steelbook collection
I only watched it for Wanda, Dr Strange and Wong were a bonus 😅

I watched the first half hour of this 4k blu-ray yesterday and I emidietly thougt something was wrong with my settings in the Denon Avc x4800. It didnt sound right. The audio is week, voices are low and the bass is soft and boring😭 But im glad its not my equipment but just a bad movie😅
I saw it in theaters but haven't watched the stream. I won't likely spend my spare change to buy another Disney "at mouse" Atmos mix on a physical disc either. If I loved the movie, maybe. Not this one though.

I can't stream Disney + because all we have is 4g and they slow it down so no IMAX for me and they don't have any IMAX theaters near so I guess it pan and scan for me black bars here we go

Great review. I've only seen the IMAX stream on Disney so have no comparison but I was impressed with all the same. It looked amazing on LG OLED in pretty much full screen.
It still makes me chuckle when I think we watched 4:3 tv with black borders so we all went out and bought widescreen tv's. Now we all watch movies on widescreen tv's with black borders usually.
How are you monitoring/visualizing the atmos mix like that?

Hmm I saw it in 4dx. Bass was so bad I refused to go back to another 4dx. Maybe it was just this movie after all

To me this was the best HDR implementation on Disney Plus catalog. By far... lots of fake hdr there..
Mux the Atmos track from the UHD disc with the IMAX version of the Disney+ stream. Use BEQ to uncircumcise the LFE.
Yes an annoying 3 step process just to get the audio back to where it should be (which funny enough, is already in the original track mix to begin with).
I do this for every MCU movie because, fuck Disney.
Most of the "linux iso" I download do this. Always much more immersive with the imax video and a dolby truehd 7.1 track.

i far prefer scope aspect ratio for film. i dare say most people yearning for "imax" at home prefer it because they like seeing their entire TV filled with image (or even those that are running smaller projection setups). 2.39 for life.
Its because you literally see more movie, 25% or so more. There is no downside to that. The image isn't being changed in any way besides there being more picture, win win

The correct answer is neither--the 3D blu-ray is going to be the best way to experience this movie, by far. If the theatrical showing was any indication, this is one of those rare films that needs to be seen in 3D. Viewing it any other way would be like watching the Wizard of Oz entirely in black and white--you'd be missing the best part. And this is definitely going to be worth the extra sheckles to import.
Another terrible Disney disc that tries to get your hard earned money. Never support the Mouse!

Seen the movie on Disney plus, audio was OK. But I'm not a Marvell fan , it's more for kids , not like DC movies, more mature and and dark. I wouldn't waste my money on the 4k blue ray for that one.

The IMAX fornatting is just a gimmick. The majority of the movie isn't even framed for that aspect ratio. The extra image is just cgi filler making so many shots look poorly framed. Hard pass.
Entirely shot in imax so I would want to see all the image don’t want cropped BS.
@@redx459 Not shot with the full IMAX camera and most of the image most of the time is just filled out cgi. Some of the framing is obviously off whenyou see it in 1.9:0.

This isn't a review of how good or bad this movie is - BUT - it's a SHIT movie.
100% Correct!! FINALLY!, someone with a good sense of Judgement against this Atrocity of a WOKE-mess of a so-called MARVEL movie from the Diverse and Inclusiveness of DISNEY!!!
