- In this vid I replace my Roush Extreme cat back with a way better sounding Borla S-Type cat back. The Borlas are a similar volume only slightly quieter but get rid of 80% of the rasp that destroyed the old tone. The Roush on camera does sound more aggressive but thats because the camera doesn't pick up a lot of the noise it makes you gotta trust me on this one lol the Roush was bad. I also recharged the JLT air filter which gave me a lot better intake noise along with some better throttle response.
Current exhaust setup: Stock manifolds, BBK catless x pipe, and Borla S-Type cat back

i dont even have my 3v anymore but the door slams, signal noises, beeps and all bring back so many memories :( dont ever sell it. Youll regret it. They look soo pretty. I miss mine everyday.

Just buy it again they cheap asf boost it also depends all on mileage etc but u can find ur self a 7k 3v where I live Texas San Antonio where I'm at

Sounds awesome! I had the Magnaflow Competitions on my 2017 GT and the drone was horrendous. Swapped out with the Ford Performance by Borla catback and goodbye drone. Still sounded amazing too. Glad you like it man!

About the same setup I have. After going through 4 sets of mufflers to get the right sound. Coupled with o/r H and long tubes… and a set of Detroit rocker cams completes the sound of this car

Sounds great! Used to have these with an offroad h-pipe and wanted more. These never had drone though and I miss that. Might go back to them with an x pipe and long tube headers and it should be perfect.
I have these mufflers and did have it paired with the Borla hi-flow catted x-pipe the drone was horrid in 5th between 55mph and 65mph. The setup was also loud AF which was neat for a while, then I just felt like an asshole coming home from work at 11:30pm in a quiet neighborhood. Swapped for an OEM style Magnaflow catted H-pipe and couldn't be happier. She gets loud when I really mash it but it isn't over the top like the x-pipe and is noisy but not obnoxious just driving plus no drone. H-pipes sound better too IMO :)
Sick setup, sounds good! Was considering a similar one for my 4.0 V6 although obviously it won’t ever sound as good as a V8 😂
I tried to do the same thing with my 14 v6 mustang.. it sounded very deep and loud but a mustang person can tell right away it’s not a v8
I did it on my v6 lol people love it. Of course it’s not as good as a V8 but you’ll still get a nice sound. Have fun with your v6.
No V6 will sound like a V8, but let me tell you that as good and high technology the 3.7 has over the 4.0, the sound from the 4.0 owns the 3.7 in every tone and volume!

i did a borla s type on my 2005gt in switzerland and its barely legal now because of the maximum 89decibels law lol. still it got approved and i am happy with the result.

I've had the Borla Stingers on my 07-GT since about 2008, previously I had some MAC axel backs for about 4 months and the drone was horrible. Good choice on the S-Types. JLT intake, Diablosport tuner and Borla Stingers.
I have the macs, its only drones from 55-60 mph under heavy throttle.. other than that sounds very nice. Would i prefer the borla? Sure but why soend another $1000 i domt have.::
Reminds me of my uncles mustang. One of the previous owners put an exhaust on it, idk which one it is, but christ is it loud, even with windows up and radio turned up its still loud af

I put the s types on mine as well coming from the outlaws. After awhile I did miss the obnoxious sound so I added some electric dumps so now I have the best of both. Doing cams next

Those are the mufflers I got on my 2010. With Detroit rocker cams. It has bbk shorty headers and H pipe rn sounds good but I have stainless works headers with x pipe waiting to be installed.

4.6 is the Best Sounding Engine ever.
I have a long-tube headers(might be Borla, might be Pypes), definitely a homemade catless xpipe(no leaks!), and the Borla Atak axle back and I love the sound no matter where I'm at. If I want to be obnoxious at neighborhood speeds I burble/pop around in 2nd, same speed in 3rd it'll roll smooth under idle and its almost too quiet for my taste, and highway speeds is deep but I don't get too much drone above the wind noise but the highways around here are 80mph and everyone goes 100 so wind noise cancels out a lot of any noise.
Sounds really good. I need some new mufflers for my 05. I also have an o/r x-pipe with an SLP axle back and it is waaaay too raspy.
You can go with the catless x pipe w/o headers? Id like to see a video on installing the Borla S-type cat back and BBK catless x-pipe (or even H-pipe) on a V6 2017 Mustang. Great sounding setup.

Yo...another video please! This shit is highly entertaining! Would like to know more about your build but the videos seem quite limited. Would be cool if you did something with headers. Would like to know your thoughts on shorties for those of us in states with emissions testing. Btw not sure what your day job is, but if it isn't something in the entrepreneurship direction with cars, then you should seriously consider starting something.

I used to have Magnaflow Magnapacks on mine. The drone was SO bad at highway speeds I couldn't even think, it hurt my head bad. I actually went back to the stock mufflers with a high-flow catted H and it sounds really good with zero drone and it's not too raspy.

Evan - I just bought a 2005 GT. Previous owner deleted the resonator(s) in favor of two hi-flow cats, connected to an X-Pipe that exited through a 2.5" midpipe to Flowmaster Glasspacks (straight pipe). It was a two hour drive home from the dealer and I was deaf from the drone at 2000 rpm (70 mph). Put a pair of stock mufflers on today and drone is gone. But I wish it was a little more baritone sounding (my son has BBK Varitunes on his 2012 GT, that I like but he has a resonator). Do you think I will get drone if I go with the new setup you installed and, if so, where on the RPM range and how bad?
@@fstrauss8331 I have zero drone on mine at any RPM and it's gotten a little deeper since I put them back on years ago. Also, muffler delete usually doesn't have much drone and sounds really deep, but is extremely loud. If you can find the GT-B (2009 Bullitt stock mufflers) they might be a little deeper and should also have minimal drone.

Borla stingers ftw. I heard them and had to have em. Not fking stupid loud like a lot of S550s! Good volume & great tone. For me, just a touch of drone on the hwy but very manageable. Screw the catback, just get some cans and enjoy!!!

the only thing i did to my 2016 v6 was a muffler delete and its awesome has drone when i want it to.
ik this is a nitpick but your are suppose to clean the filter from the inside out, apart from that they both sound great!

I've never been a fan of the overly loud, raspy exhausts on Mustangs. Has Borla S-Types on my 2006 3V and I have them again on my 2014 5.0. Borla simply has the best sounding tone - it's refined and doesn't sound like a tin can just for the sake of loudness.
I think the 4.6 can pull it off if you do it right

I had borlas with everything else stock and the drone was bad. changed to pypes mid mufflers and drone completely gone. Want to throw a X pipe with high flow cats, but scared to mess with it now.

Sounds sick! I just bought my 2007 and the previous owner put Pypes pipe bombs on it. It sounds good but not what I want. I'm stuck between the SLP LM1 and Borla S type. Also what tail lights are those? Gotta upgrade my stocks lol

i have the pypes exhaust and its loud,,,but then again i also have a loud stereo to compensate and noise saves lives lolol
im looking for exhaust options. Mine has a welded in xpipe and a muffler delete and the exhaust dumps right behind the rear axle. This one is on my list.
One think I would like to add about the jlt intake is the air inlet tube is also a lot bigger than the stock intake
I got a jlt intake on mine and it is a lot bigger and you can really hear it on those low gears I love it

That's strange because I remember in my old work place at the centerpoint energy tower, in the parking garage this guy had a 2012 mustang gt with Roush exhaust and it was by far the BEST sounding mustang I've ever heard. It was a low but definitely audible smooth rumble. A neighbor of mine had a modified 05 mustang gt with Flowmaster exhaust and especially on start up it had this loud rattle that lasted about 3 or 4 seconds. He would say "I got this new Flowmaster exhaust and dude it sounds NASTY! (like in a good way). I thought it sounded raggedy and frankly terrible. So I always thought and heard that roush is the best sounding exhaust for mustangs with Boorla a close second. 🤔 But I guess it just depends.
I currently have roush on my 07. the reviews said there wouldn't be a lot of drone but that was definitely a lie especially because I had pypes violators with absolutely no drone before that.
Roush sounded better. Problem you had was mid mufflers. Those always sound over the actual location of the muffler it's self. Thusfore you hear it inside more then an actual axleback.
You think with cats that the Roush would be a little better? I’m debating a cat back change because my pypes over axle pipes are trash and rest on a cross member so they rattle.
I’m debating the Borlas, Roush, and Kooks car backs at the moment. Love your car my guy!

Hi Evan. It's really hard to tell from the video, but is the new Borla exhaust quieter than the Roush? Or did you just get rid of the drone? I was hoping them having a real muffler would make them a bit less loud.
I just put my OEM mufflers back on my 2005 GT because my Flowmaster Outlaws were too loud and the drone was bad. I just started it and it sucks now. Way too quiet and boring.
I need to find a middle ground which will not hurt my hearing but still sound like a V8.
Yeah the borlas quieted it down by like 50% or more way more reasonable
