- ◼︎In this video, I returned to one of my favorite countries, China, but this time, I explored a city I had always wanted to visit-Shenzhen. Known as China's Mega City or Futuristic City, Shenzhen offers an incredible blend of modernity and tradition.
My first day started off a bit stressful as I was on the hunt for a great hotel with excellent Wi-Fi. After checking out a few places, I finally found a perfect 5-star hotel on my third try. It had everything I was looking for: stunning views, a central location, and easy access to multiple subway stations.
Once settled in, I ventured out to taste some highly recommended Cantonese cuisine. I savored delicious grilled goose, shrimp dumplings, and the famous sweet and milky pineapple buns. Despite the rocky start, my day ended on a high note with great food and breathtaking sights.

The roasted goose is perfect to serve with a bowl of rice. It tastes like heaven when you mix the goose fat with rice. The sour sauce that goes with the goose is to make its taste a bit lighter cuz sometimes the goose meat can be a little bit too greasy. But if you can take the amount of greasiness, it's better to go without the sour prune sauce.

Here is a clue to all non Asian , We Chinese don't always have to / must eat our food with the CHOPSTICKS . especially the food like fried Rice or any rice dish serve on a plate or your own plate of food , we used a spoon ! and for cakes , etc , the universal good old "fingers " ! ..this apply in a restaurant / at home . PS you should have / order a bowl of plain white rice with the roast Goose dish , or " Better " a cold Beer ! welcome back to China .

Yes, most Chinese dishes should be paired with plain steamed rice. You’ll usually do this with saltier or saucey dishes.

9:39 "Pineapple Bun" does NOT have pineapple in it. It is only called that because of what it looks like with the crispy top when fresh. It IS delicious when fresh and best with a pat of fresh made butter to enjoy it with.
The explosive milk pineapple bun you purchased caught my interest, and if given the opportunity, I would definitely give it a try!!

TaoTaoJu is a famous series restaurant I've met in Guangzhou and Shanghai. Kind of shock that they can't offer English service. I mean Shenzhen is one of the most open city in China.

Seems most foreigners don't understand U supposed to eat the goose with plain boiled rice. Rice is the base and other meat, fish, veggie dishes such as the goose r side dishes which u eat with rice.

I was planning a trip to go to Shanghai and Hong Kong, but I saw in the travel advisory it said to reconsider travel and coming from the US did you need a special travel visa in china and do you advise me to go even if it's in the red zone for mainland china.

The Pineapple Bun and the Ha Gow / Xia Gao are both considered "Dim Sums" and you usually order a selection first..... you usually get a i dont know how it works in China.... but you get a ticket type list thing where you tick the items you want and they bring it out to you..... maybe China is super hitech and its all done on a tablet or phone i dont know...
The Goose is gorgeous and is like a main course! Think they may have offered you a bowl of rice.... but maybe lost in translation but yeah amazing served with rice!
Everytime you go to a place like this.... colloquially its called "Yum Cha" or "Drinking Tea" "Yum = Drink / Cha = Tea"..... essentially its the Cantonese version of a Cafe in the West.... no coffee but Tea.... and "Dim Sum" if youve been to Spain is like Tapas!
Again possibly a Marco Polo influence as in Marco Polo might have taken it from China etc!
Any sweet thing you see or bun or bread thing..... you dont need to touch with chopsticks! A seasoned Chinese person in the art of chopstickery would find it impossible to eat a pineapple bun with chopsticks! you just did a master yoda on everyone!
The biting the top of the dumpling thing.... really only refers to the Shanghainese "Xiao Long Bao" As it has soup juices and its steaming hot! But meh no one will criticise you having youre own Chinese quirks XDDD
