Thank you for the tutorial! Love your pillows and fabric colors. These are on my list to do. My teenage daughter does Duct tape crafts and we got her a pair of Fiskars tape scissors that are a game changer for us. No more sticky scissors! Love watching your channel!

Helen, You should do a tutorial about how you get the back off that sticky tape! You do it soooo easily. Another solid video showing us how to " do it up"! Best tip I picked up is using the clear foot on the machine - duh! Where have been the last million finishes! Thanks for being an inspiration to us! Happy Stitching!!!
Sometimes I get lucky with the tape, other times I have to make a deal with the devil to get the back off!
This was a great tutorial! I have struggled in the past with getting rick rack to lay flat for me and I know doing it this way will help with that. Helen thank you so much for stitching an ornament for me. I was completely surprised! I love red trucks and I’ll be putting your ornament in the bed of the one I keep on a shelf in my living room. Enjoyed your tutorial Helen. Thanks for taking the time to film this easy finish. A quick little tip for you. If you want to create a larger turning area sew your backing fabric as 2 pieces leaving an opening for turning and stuffing. Just remember to add extra to the length to allow for the 1/4 inch seam allowance. Then you can completely sew around your pillow for a solid finish. Once you’re done stuffing just ladder stitch the opening closed and there you go. I’m not fond of cutting open the back and then having to apply a patch but find this works really well for me. Let me know if you give it a go and how you liked it. Thanks again! Ana

I haven't done a stitch with me. I'm a very basic poke and stab stitcher. :)
You’re a quick stitcher. You accomplish a lot in two weeks between videos. I’m a poke and stabber too but I can’t ever sit still long enough to get a descent amount done. Thanks for getting back to me 😊
Finger nail polish remover with acetone will remove the sticky residue from your scissors after cutting the double sided tape. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials! Appreciate all that you share.

@@helend.flosstube I feel so much better about my mistakes I watched Brenda and Laura today who both admitted to some and leaving them in I made several in my Dracula confession by Lindy stitches and although I spent 2hrs frogging the bat I left the huge one of doing half the words in the wrong colour I know the Amish people leave intentional mistakes in their quilts so maybe it’s ok thank you for sharing and helping me and probably others like me who get overwhelmed thinking we have to be perfect you have given me a lot more confidence to do things thank you so much Angela in ireland 🇮🇪 🙃

🤗 Thank you Helen! You can get some liquid stuff called “Goo Gone” to take the sticky stuff off your scissors. It works great, has a bit of a smell but works great! Take care.

I've done some different smalls, but not an ornament specifically. But I'm working on some this month, so I can do one when I get around to finishing them. :)

Great tutorial! Here's a tip to "remove the sticky" from your scissors, use a cotton swab or cotton ball, add just a tiny bit of oil, you could also use Vaseline rub along the blades a few times, use a clean paper towel to remove the oil. One more tip, there is a product called Steam-A-Seam 2; double stick fusible tape, it's double sided and it won't gum up your needle.

Love these pillows! Definitely bookmarking this technique for the future! Have you seen Vonna's technique for piecing the back and leaving the seam at the back open in the middle so you can sew completely around the outside edges? Might be a good technique to apply to these.
I've seen that technique, but never actually tried it. I bet it would work well on these!
Great tutorial, Helen. Your pillows and coordinating fabrics are beautiful! Can I ask where do you find Mountain Mist polyester stuffing? I’ve checked all local craft stores and cannot find that brand. Thanks for all your enjoyable videos.
Mountain Mist has become hard to find. In the past I've gotten it from Joann's, but they don't seem to carry it anymore. I did just order some more from officesupply.com, but it's the first time I've ordered from them and I haven't gotten it, so I can't really recommend them just yet. Shipping was pricey unless you spent $45, so I got three bags of stuffing and a roll of Stitchery Tape. :)

I use a Shark Steam Iron. It's 1500 watts. I've had it a few years now and have no complaints.

Thank you for the terrific tutorial. You are a terrific teacher. What color thread do you use for the ric-rac on the stitches? I guess if you’re awesome like you you’re hiding the seam as you stitch the seam just beyond the first line. ...I’ll go slow. 😉
I just used white for these two because I didn't want to be messing around with changing out threads on my machine during a tutorial. Usually I use a color that's close to my fabric or ric rac so it won't show.

My ruler and board are both ancient! I did look at Joann's online and they still carry the ruler. The board is a 4x16 cutting board from Fiskars. what kind of interfacing do you use.?
I typically use Pellon P44F, which is very thin. I'm out of that right now so I've been using scraps of Pellon 950F, which is what I use for project bags.
What Interfaceing weight did you use
For these pillows I used a scrap of Pellon 950F because that's what I use for project bags and I had scraps. I also sometimes use Pellon P44F, which is the really inexpensive stuff that's 99 cents a yard.
