  • Building on yesterday’s exploration, this practice is about noticing if you are willing and available to check in with your true self each day. This is one of my favorite practice themes and HUGE in my personal body of work, which asks, “What is my relationship to center?”
    Please do not miss this session as I include some of my favorite lessons for growing your practice both in asana and yogic philosophy. If you want to advance, do this work. Step into your power. Learn how to move from center.
    We ease in today, so if you are tired or feeling unmotivated, I got you. Practice slowing down at the beginning of this session, then join me as we mindfully layer to POWER postures.
    We will connect to subtle body gestures to make deeper discoveries that may (they will) support you both on and off the mat.

      Wow that was powerful. I really had to focus on center to lift my heels with my feet together. I guess dancers really have that center for sure. Ready for day 19 tomorrow. Namaste!

    So proud of everyone who’s kept at this for 18 Days! But this comment is for those who had to skip a day or 2 (or 3!) due to the circumstances. Life often gets in the way but I’m proud of you for shaking it off and coming back to the mat the next (or next next) day! There’s for love and admiration for you too!

    Today was a special day for me in Yoga. I do yoga with adriene almost a year, every day, and today is the first time that I succeeded to stand in crow pose for around 3 seconds. I got really excited about it, I was finishing the rest of the practice smiling, and I couldn't wait to finish it and tell my brother, because we are both doing yoga, he is in the US and I am in Europe, so this connects us because we can talk about the time on the mat, feels like we are doing it together :D

    GUYS!!! Guys, I did the crow for the first time today!!! I'm so excited and delighted and I didn'tknow who else to share this with but you guys!
    Ok, I didn't hold it for very long, but I still held it for a few seconds, which I'm so happy about! I'll keep building my strength to hold it for that bit longer.
    Adriene, your tip about focusing on a point while getting into the pose instead of looking down/back at your feet really helped! Thank you!

      Me too! I am so happy!! I've been doing the 30 days videos since last April and crow pose was always frustrating. Today was the first time I managed to lift my both feet and hold them. And it felt good! I was wondering why, maybe because the whole practise was focusing on center, making us more aware of it for this pose, but also the way Adriene explained how to move the center up. Happy for you too =)

    Gonna be honest I was feeling frustrated when I could not do the crow pose, but you know what? That’s ok. I gotta be patient with myself and show up daily so I can improve.

      Jumping Joy, I’m so with you on the frustration of not doing crow pose! I started to have negative feelings and then did my best to change those feelings into positive ones and told myself to look forward to the one day I will do it, however far into the future it may be. I think we have to be honest about those feelings and acknowledge them in order to grow.

      A fellow one who wasn't even close to doing it (I mean how are my arms meant to support my knees?). And couldn't help feel a little frustrated. But both are totally fine. Imagine how lucky we are to have that whole journey in front of us. And for showing up in spite.

    When Adrienne said just be patient and wait for the others to find their blocks or dvds that hit me really hard. I was like oh she is right I have to patient I am not alone in this. I am not alone in life. We all have to be patient with each other and learn and grown thru each other. Hope everyone found their center today or got a little closer. ❤

      Same here! I get impatient sometimes now that I’ve been doing yoga for over a year and I want to move faster, but moving faster isn’t always better it’s about how you move and use your breath. what she said resonated with me and reminded me to do just that.

      You don't know how nice it was to find your comment! Due to circumstances, I've also missed yoga on a couple weekdays, but glad that there's someone else here! Doing yoga five days a week has been the most active I've been in my life so I'm hoping to continue going even if I'm days behind

    "If downward dog is a dreaded pose for you"....that was actually nice to hear as I really struggle to be comfortable in that pose. I can't get my heels to the floor, my wrists hurt...it is just uncomfortable. I kinda felt alone in these feelings so to hear that and then the advice to keep looking for a new sensation really helped today! Thanks so much!

      My knees are always at a slight bend and my ankles are always way off the floor, but that's okay!
      One of my yoga teachers said to me that the "perfect" downward dog is the one that makes you feel better in your body. 💗

      Getting heels down is one of those goals to work for & one of mine. I notice when I practice regularly they actually get lower! As Adriene has said in the past - yoga is a “practice” so we can always improve.

      to put your heels perfetly to the mat with your legs nearly straight like all the instructors are doing it, you need at least a year of regular stretching practise to achieve that as a rather inflexible person.

      I also find downward dog one of the most uncomfortable poses (I think I actually prefer plank!). I might be able to get my heels down, but I can't actually breathe...! I hope you (and I) keep it up and keep finding new sensations until one day we suddenly find that we're happy in downward dog. 😁

      I hate that pose! I can't get my hands to stop sliding on my mat. I've tried putting down different types of towels but nothing has been able to help. I can't help but get incredibly frustrated whenever downward dog comes along.

      Lol us too! Me and my sister (on video chat) do it every year for 4 years now, never missed a day. This year we are caring for our elderly mom, kids in virtual high school, job problems... people problems (ha ha) and we had to miss a couple. At first we were feeling guilty then we both looked at each other and said “WWAS..(what would Adriene say?)
      Just get back on the mat is what she would say. It’s not a competition she would say, it’s a process. We laughed when we realized “how would Adriene know anyways” “is she watching us? Sending out the Yoga police?”
      We will just hop back on where we left off and finish, it will still be 30 days of yoga. Did Adriene make a rule that it had to be 30 consecutive days? Absolutely not!!
      Love you Adriene for allowing us all to be right where we are at and promising to meet us there. You got us and we got this!!

      Adrienne always makes me feel accomplished for showing up... then I think about how she shows up every day for us, in front of cameras, giving instruction to a million invisible people... she is super human 🙏

    I love how Adriene always says "hug your lower ribs in" and never "suck in your stomach." So much more body positive.

      Yep, it's just practicality. Sucking in your stomach doesn't give you the muscular tone and stability that hugging in the lower ribs does.
      There are certain pranayamas and kriyas in which you do suck in your stomach though, just not in this journey.

    Oh my 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼. My father did calisthenics every evening between work and dinner. I’ve never seen anyone else do much less explain the alternate leg out, leg to knee move. I hadn’t even thought about it in years! When I was little, I couldn’t do it with him. When I was an adult... he passed in 2001. I’m grateful you brought him into this practice with us ❤️🙏🏼❤️. Now I can do it. And he’s on the mat with me. ❤️❤️❤️

      I was in a similar position this time last year and made it through the year, missing a handful of days along the way. What helped was to always do something, even a short 10 minute meditation, if I wasn’t up for the suggested video that day. Know that I’m rooting for you.

    To those of you who think you can't do it: the first time I did this journey I had to take soooo many breaks during crow pose. I definitely felt that shake. Today I got my toes off the ground... Just an inch, but I did it, and I have never felt so accomplished. I believe in you. ❤️

    Just finished day 18. I remember last year when I participated in the Home journey I got really discouraged when I couldn’t do the crow pose. I wasn’t able to today either but I found myself being more forgiving and focusing on the fact that I made it to day 18 babyyy! Congrats to everyone who made it here too, you’re doing amazing.

    in an era where we have grown accustomed to getting everything instantly, and developed such a short attention span ( via social media tools like tiktok, insta stories, snaps etc...) this serie is such a great way to learn patience and appreciate slowing down.
    I'm very energetic and fast-paced by myself, so being able to take 30-40 minutes a day to slow things down has become such a corner stone for my well-being in general

    Anyone else imagined everyone else with whom you are doing this practice with? (I’m getting a great deal off support out of my imaginary yoga friend called Anne who is having short hamstrings just like mine. Giggling true the forward folds together when our fingers can’t reach the ground).. or is this just me being crazy 😜

      I'll join in the short hamstring club :) I tend to laugh a lot too, especially when Adriene folds over while seated and I can't seem to move an inch from just seating upright 😆 (but that may just be my overall stiffness, not just the hamstrings)

    It was a challenging practice in today's calm.
    I couldn't do Bakasana, but for a moment I felt like I could stand with only the support of my hands.
    When I moved with awareness of my center, I felt like I was breathing stronger, deeper, and
    hotter than usual.

    I missed this practice by a day and was feeling a little bummed out. I was struggling with rocking into crow pose, which has always been a little discouraging for me. I've been doing YWA videos for about two years now, and I've never gotten close to actually balancing in crow. But after the practice today I just had to keep trying, and I DID IT. I stayed in crow for a few seconds, and I popped off like crazy afterward! Thank you for this practice, Adriene!

    I was really daunted when I saw Crow Pose in the video thumbnail (I have been struggling with this one!!), but approaching it from center made a huge difference!     So, I'm here like 6 months late. I've been trying to do this for months but with so much going on in life it's pretty difficult to me to keep doing it daily. Besides that I feel like I should be proud of myself for showing up, even though I am not doing the way it's supposed to. Adriene always give me so much peace and I feel like she's a friend you know? Just thankful that she exists and brings so many good things to our lifes

    I always told myself that I couldn't hold my own body weight...cut to today and holding a 10 second plank because I'm actually doing it correctly lol. It's nice to prove others wrong, but it's even better to prove yourself wrong! :)

    What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I could barely get through the session and had to take numerous breaks because mentally I was not "there". Today, the session felt like minutes. Committed to showing up every day, even if every day isn't the "best" me.

    i hopped on the mat after fixing a flat tire, but somehow i was filled with JOY. today’s practice had me realizing how little self confidence i’ve had in my life, and how that has correlated to my CENTER. this journey really has shown me just how much I LOVE yoga, and how much it really is about just showing up and really checking in! not gonna lie- i have been a bit distracted the past few videos, but i still showed up and really tried to check in with my breath. and i will continue to do that every day! my goal is to get to the point where i do yoga every day. whether it’s with adriene and this lovely community, or just by myself playing around.

    Ok so just did this CENTERING practice and I totally surprised myself when I could actually feel my center engaged ad helping to lift me up on my toes in Tadasana and lo and behold also to get both my knees up from the ground in crow pose, even if it was for just a few seconds. Will try and keep Adriene’s words in mind as I try to focus my attention on moving with my Centre engaged when I get off the mat today. Can’t wait to see what I experience next on this wonderful journey. Also so far, even though I cannot see any physical change, I feel lighter in my center and mind as I’m learning to accept what my body can do now as opposed to what it can’t and that has made such a difference. I have chosen to let go of that which is no longer serving me and I find myself open to receive both in mind and body and heart. So thank you so much for that Adriene ❤️

    The crow pose was a struggle for me! It felt so awkward and difficult as I lifted one foot a time, I even fell over once. I realized though through Adriene's words it was not about the pose but about bringing what I've learned to the pose and focusing on my center, and my hand to earth connection. It was a liberating feeling when I realized that. And even though it was still a struggle I feel more confident to try again next time!

    To those of you who may be frustrating with crow pose... keep at it!!! I wasn't able to do it today because my wrist just weren't feeling it. But... I have practiced it randomly after some of the other videos in the past and just a couple of weeks ago, was able to do crow pose and actually hold it! I leapt around the house so excited. I just kept practicing at other times other than during the video. So keep going and you'll find yourself doing it before you know it. Love to Adriene and my fellow yogi's! Namaste!

      I struggle with this too! I either pause it and do the other side for a bit or come out of the pose completely to make sure it’s evened out - it’s ok! Otherwise I get super frustrated and I can’t enjoy her little talks, which are great, but please not in the middle of a left sided plank hahaha

      Oh god yes. I so often worry about being "uneven" or something, when it feels like one side is getting more attention than the other... Guess it's a good opportunity to practice trusting that it will be fine even if it doesn't feel perfect.

    Crow is always a struggle for me and today I was reminded that it is still a struggle. However, I thought of the phrase that is said so often here in our little village "petit à petit l'oiseau fait son lit." I need to remember patience.

      Yes, it took me several months of practicing it every day to be able to fly it but once you do you'll never stay on the grown ever again. So yes, it is "persevere and you will triumph". See you on the mat!!💕

    Anyone else occasionally look at the initial freeze frame pic and think, "Uh oh." :) Still, the good thing about committing to this daily is that I don't hem and haw about whether I want to do it or not. I'm doing it. Just with a smidge more trepidation than I would otherwise. Day 18, attempted crow and all, is in the books!

    I have never felt more connected to my own center. That sweet, light place that allows me to truly tap into the now and become aware of my own power and energy in this world. I am finally unlocking the confidence and courage I have always had, but could never truly discover. After today's practice, I felt so enlightened that I was able to truly explore what it means to be present in my body. Committing to BREATH is single-handedly the best choice I have ever made when it comes to my yoga practice (and arguably in life!). I completed HOME and felt changed forever, but this year's journey is on a whole other level. Thank you to all of you who make this experience happy and proud.     I came to the mat feeling overwhelmed, sad, depressed, anxious and frustrated. I didnt think i could start my day or even do a yoga session, but now i feel so much better, not quite good - but more calm, more positive, more centered.

    I loved some of the sensations I experienced here this morning. There was an emotional moment on the mat as I connected with myself and realized that I am an amazing person. I’ve recently entered into a serious battle for my health and I’m realizing that the world needs me to be around for a long time and that I am worth the battle. I deeply appreciate Adriene for leading the journey and all of those who also join. It feels like you’re all around me and I am not alone.

    This practice helped me in so many ways. I get completely entranced in your guiding and feel for the first time I can really get there in my yoga practice… You are such a great mix of spiritual, easy-going, fun, hilarious at times, but so peaceful and so YOURSELF. It’s obvious you’re fully in it and it makes people really understand what this is all about. All your cues and hints resonate with me more than any instructor I’ve experienced, and it feels like “she GETS me!” LOL.
    My puppy isn’t exactly as zen as Benji but we’re having a good time over here.
    Thank you for making me see yoga in a whole different light.

    I’m loving these 30 days. I have to make adjustments (a lot) because of my back pain but today, lying down with my knees up I felt my center turn on for the first time in months. Started shaking a little (“don’t hate the shake”) and actually felt this core strength in my body. My center. I know now it will heal and I will be strong again. Thank you so much Adriene, Benji and team for these wonderful practices.

    Thank you Adriene for taking the time to share your gifts and passion to add value and hope to this community.
    It’s challenging and fun to discover our individual journeys together. To really discover the awareness of our bodies, our breath and thoughts in space is exhilarating. More importantly bringing this awareness and these tools to the world in our lives to serve as you are is what I look forward to the most. I’m finding that we do need this time for us in order to step in our lives and live freer, with more love and buoyancy. Pleasure sharing with you all.

    I usually practice in the evening (because I wake up very early in the morning) and I love the energy that yoga give me: when is time to slow down and the day is nearly over, I still have energy to do this with all of you!! I’m so thankfull for all I have: energy, time and you 💕🙏🏻
