- Today, I’m going to walk you through six mistakes I made while working as a structural engineer in Australia, plus a few blunders I’ve seen my colleagues make.
Some were silly errors from my early days, while others were structural site inspections oversights.
Stick around until the end because I'll also be sharing five invaluable lessons that can truly revolutionize your approach to structural engineering.

Thanks for your sharing! Can you make a Video about Analysis & design of RC cantilever beam 2.3m to support the slab or brick wall please. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching :) I can put that on the list :) thanks for the suggestion
Nice vid. I resonate a lot with some mistakes
Thanks Gabe.
Thanks for this! Very educational and accessible, as all of your video's.
I had two questions: for the first 'mistake': the check of the existing concrete beam: did you have the original structural plans? Or how did you know which bars were present?
Second question: how much time do you spend on study? How do you do it? Do you do it according to your specific projects or do you make time for general study?
Hi Pieter
I did not have the original plans. I checked it based on the minimum reinforcement required for the beams to work.
I like researching about topics. I don't have a set schedule for studying at the moment. It varies around my daily schedule. I'm always reading though.
If you have time for general study, that's awesome. Otherwise, study as you go according to the projects you come across.
love it
