Evening all! Hope you are well and enjoying this lovely weather! So, please don't worry we haven't gone off biking BUT have become a little bored with the typical motovlogging, plus you know how we feel about that and we certainly aren't going to film us riding from a,b,c back to a! So, please join us for a slightly different direction and we do hope you enjoy it! Bike will be back out when we can travel and take you with us, until then there are always those "other" channels to get that biking fix. lol! Wendy & Darren xx
You need to remember that if you moor a wide beam in Mercia Marina you won't be able to move on the canal. All the locks and bridges around are narrow beam.your wide beam will have to be like a static caravan.
Thank you for this and yes totally agree, we have since moved away from the wide beam and now settled for a narrowboat, once the house has sold we shall be on the hunt. Thank you so much for the comment and taking the time to post. Darren
Paul Rocke Thank you so much for this lovely comment, really is lovely and we are so excited but have so much to learn and understand, Thank you again for this lovely comment and hopefully one day soo we can be saying we have our wide beam. Mrs B xx
Do you watch 'Weir on the Move'? Mark and Julie live on a wide beam boat. It is lovely. We are interested in a 8 or 9 foot wide wide beam. Then you can visit most canals, not all, but a great many. I will be following your adventure.
I can only watch and dream, retired here in USA and have no canals here and no money for that type of purchase. Need to buy more lotto tickets, could win, OMG you yelled at traffic just like me OMG my brother form another mother!
Thank you for the comment and also for taking the time to post. We love the US and when this maddnes is all over we shall be back over there for a holiday. Mrs b xx
Got to say We have just watched lots of your videos today, you two are such a laugh, have enjoyed what I have seen so far ,I hop you get the boat you really want I wold like a lot of room on the stern so you both can sit down with a good glass of what ever you fancy ,and still have room for me lol ,take care keep safe,John 🌸🌺💐🥂🍷🥃🍹
Guys I've just found your UA-cam channel .. brilliant just love your zest for life and humour. Shame we in NI don't have any canals but you're giving me food for thought for life in retirement. Keep up the good work. Dx
Hi Denise, what a lovely comment, thank you so much for posting this and taking the time to do so, thank you. Oh the journey takes some twists and turns and I do hope you stick around because it’s about to take another turn! Thank you again for the lovely comment. Mrs B xx
Hey Lucille, if we have had the time we would have done the ferry as well, so cool to have done that! We both keep saying that one day we will go back to there as we really did love the place, just a shame we only had a few hours to kill as we had to get back to the boat builders. Thank you for the comment and for taking the time to post. Mrs B xx
Hi, thoroughly enjoyed your vlog, getting caught up in your enthusiasm and excitement - good luck with your quest. You make some queries so I will try to share my few penn'orth. The Sailaways come in various forms - from a bare shell, all steel and you insulate yourself, or insulated but unlined, or there is the 'Lined' version. You may have seen Luke Makes' Collingwood 12' Widebeam which is featured from the baseplate lying on the factory floor to the boat lined (walls and ceiling) with engine installed, wiring (inverter etc) water tank, toilet and plumbing installed. No bulk heads - they are positioned as you require. He has built much of the furniture himself but others, who have gone this route, appear to favour Ikea or Howdens - especially for kitchens. You may have seen Northern Buoy widebeam, Colin Jacques, Christine Anne The Buoys (narrow boats from bare shells), The Boat Family who started with an insulated but otherwise unlined boat. You may be interested in their vlog 30 ("If we knew then....") - which tells you what to be aware of. I have no idea as to what any of the finishing costs amount to. Good luck with your project - I look forward to your progress.
Love Life & Triumph - Your excitement and enthusiasm is so infectious (oops - a bad word in these Covid-19 days!) that I really enjoyed sharing my thoughts.
BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT....absolutely loved this. Just discovered your channel and have subscribed. You're very much like me and my awesome other half (she likes coloured hair too lol) and we're planning the widebeam life in the future! Ps I was born and brought up just down the road in worksop!! Looking forward to following your progress....lots of love Mark & Di
Hi Mark, what a lovely, genuinely lovely comment to receive at the start to the weekend, THANK YOU so much for these lovely words and comments. Welcome on board as they say, its a total mad house as we have changed our minds on so much stuff (still getting a boat) since the first vlog! I am now not sleeping, Mr B is just wondering around the house in his dressing gown and generally speaking we have lost the plot BUT we are so excited. Thank you again for the lovely comments and subscribing and our best to Di as well. Right I need to go and find Mr B as he may well be wondering down the street in just his dressing gown!! Mrs B xx
Ahoy there and shiver me timbers team Boaty Bonneville, very exciting news but how do you get a widebeam over to Mercia, without getting stuck in the Darien Gap? That was a great magical mystery tour! Looking forward to the boat naming ceremony. All the best from Knitsford where all the wheel trims in Liverpool come from, Nick
You and a few others shall be the first to receive the party invite, make sure you bring a life jacket though, just in case we ever talk it out! Mrs B xx
Wow your actually going to do this and live on a boat. This is fantastic and I’m looking forward to watch this story to unfold. Only thing that really worries me is where is the motorcycle going to go. On the roof 😂😂😂or is this the end of your motorcycling days now. Hopefully not. Look forward to seeing what is going to come up next. 👍🏍
Hey Mark, thank you so much for the lovely comments and trust us one of the first things we have checked out is motorbike parking/storage and pleased to say that there are no worries on that front. Biggest worry I have is what the hell does Brenda ( he will kill me when he reads this!!) wear on a boat! Mrs B xx
Im still cringing! BUT what an amazing city you have, wonderful and we WILL be back to explore more because we genuinely did have a wonderful time. Thank you for the kind comments. Mrs B xx
Hi guys just found you been narrowboat my for 18yrs love it if you want an idea about wide beams check out (Weir on the move )he will answer any of your questions good luck you could be on a fabulous journey we love it stay safe .⚓️
Hi Robert, thats a lovely comment and thank you for the nudge to Weir on the move, thank you I have just subscribed to their channel. Our heads are spinning at the moment but we know we are going to love this and one day when my other half has retired I really do think we shall be on a narrow boat because we really want to explore the network fully. For now it will have to be a wide beam because he still needs tov earn some money! Thank you so much for the lovely comment, its really appreciated. Mrs B xx
Hi Mark, thank you for the lovely comments and yes we absolutely love the wide beam boats, we just need to understand a few more bits and pieces before talking to next stage, very exciting though. Hope you and the loved ones are all well. Mrs B xx
Brilliant vid. Great personalities. I to want to change my life and been trying to encourage the wife to get on the water lol. Those boats are lovely. I know on a wide beam its north or south choice. However a guy told me you can use the rivers to travel from North to South in a wide beam. Anyway great show.🙂❤
hi i've just discovered your vlog. love it :) i'm in the process of selling my house and am going to buy a liveaboard down south so your vlogs are of particular interest to me. keep em coming please. good luck with the hunt for a widebeam :)
robin alderton hi Robin, many thanks for this lovely comment, really kind of you. Hope the house sale is progressing for you and good luck with the future plans. If you are like us then we are all over the place but so excited about the future. Thank you again and hope you enjoy the vlogs. Mrs B xx
Doug Tang Lockdown has been eased and we made an appointment at the marina to view the boats and the way they managed social distancing was very effective. Thank you for the question. Mrs B xx
Oh I thought that wasn’t til yesterday? That’s what we’re adhering to in London anyway. Nice boat - I’m trying to go for a Hoxton! Saves on buying a house 😂
Doug Tang No Mercia Marina and New & Used Boats have been accepting pre-arranged appointments for a week, think we were the first couple to make an appointment. Oh the Hoxton is a beauty, good luck with it and they are beautiful boats. Mrs B XX ps let us know if you get one
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on subject of getting a canal houseboat . Narrowboat vs broadbeam debate and your feelings about marina etc. I always had a dream of being a continuous cruiser on a 57ft narrowboat. You would need to be able to work from home and have an internet connection but idea appealed. But I suspect in winter it becomes a bit tough if you aren’t moored in a marina. I think your idea of living on a marina a good way to get use to living on canals. I’m sure you will take your new boat out more than a couple of times a year once you get use to handling it. You seem like fun people I’m sure you will have fun with your new adventure 😊
As charming as you both are I am becoming tired of what is your endless chatter. I subscribed to your vlog simply to view boats and there has become precious little of that specific topic. Case in point: this video is 22:48 and the only relevant portion is a paltry SIXTEEN SECONDS!!! Seriously...MORE BOAT LESS CHAT
I'm loving the vlogs, and now getting excited about boats ! Looking forward to following you on this life changing adventure. I'm definitely staying tuned..... ps. Mrs always looks gorgeous, how does she do that ? Take care and ahoy me hearties ( thats boat speak for something, don't know what though ;)
Hi Bob, that's made me laugh because we also don't know what the saying means! Thank you for the lovely comments and yes stay tuned as we continue on this adventure! Hope you and the good lady are well and safe. Mrs B xx
Correct! But I am the one with the beautiful wife, life and not the keyboard warrior!!! Have a lovely time surfing the internet George! Oh just so you know my life moved on the moment i sent this reply. Mr B! the camp one who has crapped himself!
Martin has beaten to this! OMG George Long needs a life so badly! George step away from the keyboard and try engaging with society in a different way because you are a total low life! Good luck with re-engaging with society and binning the keyboard, opening the curtains, getting a meaningful relationship and commencing with life again! oh and BYE George!
Hi folks love the videos of you both. Mr B. you reminded me of someone and I just couldn’t place it till I saw you in “Buying a Live Aboard Wide Beam”. (Don’t do a wide beam much better in a narrow boat) Anyway when I saw you walk across the car park of the service garage it came to me 😂 have you seen “Benidorm” the tv series? Kenneth Du Beck, from the hairdressers. Sorry but you’ve got his walk👍 Keep the video diaries coming there such a laugh 😜
Oh god Steve, I am laughing so much because you are right (hope Mr B doesn't read this!!) about Benidorm. I love him dearly but he is Kenneth!!! Thank you so much for this because I really have laughed so much. Mrs B xx ps wide beam now off the cards. Right I am off because Kenneth wants to go out lol xx
No you are right! We had a massive change of heart a few weeks back and decided narrowboat first as we both really want to explore the network, well as much as we can until Mr B stops working and then go wide beam to retire onto. It was a huge decision to take but we are really both very excited by it, just need the house to go through now! Thanks again Lynda and you haven't missed anything. Mrs B xx
John Shirley well if you could sprinkle some magic dust on our house sale we’d be happy to crack on 😁 or better still you could always pop the £100k in the post and we’d be equally as happy and then go and buy our boat! Lol stay tuned for lots more soap opera on a Sunday evening. Mrs B xx
Wow, you guys are really serious about it,fantastic, go for it as I’m sure it will be an awesome adventure. 🙌🏻😜 feeling your excitement. Can’t wait for next update. Atvb Lawrence. Oh Mrs B you could learn a bit to help your accents from this 😉 ua-cam.com/video/UeYDI4wdjQw/v-deo.html
