I can only repeat myself: please - never ever stop being excited like a school boy. It is so lovely and it rubs off to your viewers. Happy to have you back!
That was one of the best videos I’ve seen for a long time and the music was fabulous I live in Australia and I’ve hired a narrow boat in the UK twice and I will hire a wide beam next time I’m over thanks to you. Cheers Doug.
A quick throwaway quip from the missus has me looking at life aboard narrowboats and specifically widebeams. I'm so pleased to now subscribe to your channel, never ever change. Your positive infectious manner is such a pleasure to watch.
I think that's a Silsden boat, it's almost identical to the one I bought from them some years ago. Beautiful boats, and mine had a Reeves hull which is one of the best you can get.
I love your energy and excitement! Its contagious! After a childhood spent holidaying on narrowboats I'm looking at taking my own children on the waterways. Really enjoyed watching this trip 😊
Thanks for this. Many years ago my wife and I from Canada were going to go there and rent a narrowboat. Then came a youngun, and life changed. Must admit, Yorkshire's my favourite place to visit in the UK.
Beautiful video and music. I loved the view from the boat when the river ran between the two sets of tallish old buildings. Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for posting it - I've missed these amazing views of the English canals and countryside! And your lovely narration and music. Looking forward to seeing more of them.
I loved your video. I've been searching for a canal route that isn't over-touristed (like Llangollan) and I've enjoyed following you on your journey on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It looks lovely. I've also enjoyed understanding the differences between the narrowboat and the widebeam. Cheers Stan!
Cheers. Must admit, hadn't thought about them not rocking so much, but I'm sure you're right. Didn't notice any rockin when we were on board.. but we did tiptoe round like mice... hehehe
The same stretch of leeds canal claimed my very first colour phone it was long before smartphones i imagine it may still be there from when i was sat on the roof of the canal boat on holiday and dropped it 😂
Wanted to look at that lovely cute house/ cottage..I have rewound the tape to get a better look and still not enough. I love painting cottage doors in watercolor...it looks as if you had the most lovely time.
Oh wow…. Soooo good to see you back…. You’ve been missed!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 we went to crick show yesterday and went on a wide beam for the first time. OMG… the amount of room!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more from you.
Good to see you back out on an adventure, what a glorious boat. I could easily retire and live on a widebeam or narrowboat, still a few years in the future yet but never say never ;-)
Fabulous wow never been on a wide beam so much space must be totally different steering it and doing the bingley 5 amazing thanks for sharing this experience.
Obviously the stars aligned ... as they say. Glad you enjoyed. Can understand what you mean about being brave. Definitely worth trying out a narrowboat first a few times.
Wow, that is luxurious Stan. You were living like a king in this video. Absolutely wonderful. Looked very cozy with that fire and mug of tea. You've made some fantastic memories with this trip.
Hi Stan, thanks for your lovely interpretation of how people can enjoy boating the canals. I really loved the music you used for this video, is it possible to get a copy of it.
After much research and redesigning, I've decided ( I think, for now... ) on a 57ft x 9ft. Commission the shell for my own fit-out. Seems like that may be the best of both worlds. A 'semi-wide'? Much as though I'd like to commission a completed ready-to-go boat, I couldn't afford that, but a shell plus my fit-out seems possible.
There’s a third thing to strike you at the Bingly 5 Rise. You single-handedly tie up all 5 locks for the duration. Only one “Wide-beam” can go through a one time. No passing allowed. Lol
I had a grand day out in Saltaire a few years ago. Fascinating place. We visited Salts Mill and learned some interesting local history. A day well spent.
Great video Stan I’ve just came across your show. Now I’m going to start watching all your videos from the start. I love the music I have been trying to find it with Siri but she doesn’t know how can I find it please I live in Australia maybe that’s it. Cheers Doug
Welcome aboard! Glad you're enjoying the videos. The music is usually stuff that I've written and recorded with Mike, which he then mixes into longer form. So, that's why siri won't recognise it. Cheers Stan
I had someone who i don't even think is from England get mad at me because i said England should build half a dozen or so broad boat canals to connect all the different systems that aren't connected so broads can't go from system to system without having to be taken out. I don;t know why they got mad but it seams everyone complains about housing prices and while narrows may work for some i think that having a network were broad beans can traverse in entirety would be huge because a lot more people would want to live in broad boats than narrow boats but once they see they will have to keep taking their boats in and out teh water they may not want to buy a boat.
Hiya Kevin, nice to hear from you all the way over there in the USA. Canals over here are all two way, apart from a few very rare exceptions - tunnels usually. They have a traffic light system.
Yes, there are restrictions. Here's a map showing the canals and navigable rivers, broad and narrow: www.lakelandleisureboatsales.co.uk/assets/images/UK-Broad-Beam-Canal-Map.gif hope this helps.
Lovely film, But jeez the music, turn it down old son, can barely hear you, and my speakers are vibrating my desk with the bass beats. Very soothing experience, thank you.
Looks like a great way of life. I would imagine with a boat that size you might be quite be severely restricted in your travels but I think I would prefer the extra living space. One thing that puts me off living on the water is a comment made to me several years ago by a child protection officer who said what a problem they had with paedophiles living on the waterways. They caught on to the idea that you can have a permanent address but still can't be easily tracked.Apparently there are hundreds of them living that way. No good for me to be amongst them with 6 kids!
A useful video got to know about Silsden but please stop trying to make a comparison with silly things like chocolate 🤷🏻♂️ who eats chocolate nowadays anyway, a boat is a boat mate
Yorkshire before you meet scotland !!!!!!! i think you forgot Durham and Northumberland a distance of 200 plus miles. i know your excited but christ know your geography
What you on about Yorkshire just before Scotland ??? Never heard or Durham, Hexham, Gateshead, and Newcastle upon Tyne, and a few more places etc etc, shame on you I say, us “ proper “ northerners will dislike you for thinking there’s nothing between Yorkshire and Scotland. I for one won’t be subscribing to your channel just for that remark.

you are welcome!
Love the cozy fireplace stove
Love how giddy and excited he was to give the tour. Hope to see him do more tours!
I like the styling of the Aqualine Canterbury in a widebeam. Brilliantly designed.
I've had to subscribe. This bloke, for some reason takes me away from my miserable lot. Thank you.
I love your energy and excitement! Its contagious!
After a childhood spent holidaying on narrowboats I'm looking at taking my own children on the waterways. Really enjoyed watching this trip 😊
I've just discovered that you're a House Martin, so you know all about that music stuff.
This made me smile, as I was listening to the 'Martins back in the day. I still listen to them now I am an old fart.

THANKS, and the music was lovely...
Fabulous! Amazing amount of room on the wide-beams. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

Absolutely brilliant video. I subscribed straight away. Have a bad day, just watch this, and I bet you will feel so much better for doing so.😊
thanks, Chris
Great video Stan (and Magic Mike). Makes us want to cruise the Leeds Liverpool again.
Thanks. Think you should give in to temptation - maybe even try a wide beam!
You keep enthusiastically enjoying life, Stan. Good for you. What’s wrong with all you other people and your petty, snippy comments. 🇦🇺
Yep, reckon that's what we should try and do, enthusiastically enjoy life. Great phrase. Might have to steal it!
Wow Amazing Vlog Stan envy you looks well good my best David
Loads of space in there .. lovely.. Just a quick one.. How much of the network is inaccessible to Wide beams??
My first watch of any of your videos. What a great bit of filming. And that music? Get some vinyl pressed and sell it! Well done.
Welcome aboard!
Wow what a guy and what a channel, fair play my friend big love from Portsmouth
Great to see you back
Wanted to look at that lovely cute house/ cottage..I have rewound the tape to get a better look and still not enough. I love painting cottage doors in watercolor...it looks as if you had the most lovely time.
Would never have thought of that as a thing to do. Sounds ace. MAybe next time I should ask Mike to take long lingering looks at cutesy cottages!
@@StansHappyHour that would be appreciated. Thank you. Ps. That one would have made a lovely painting...boohoo.
Great to see you back Stan ...and round my neck of the woods too 👍 looking forward to seeing more adventures
Thanks - looking forward to making more films later in the year...
👍
You see! That's what I'm talking about ... the extra width is crazy. Should be back later in the year with some more films ...
Fantastic. Can’t wait.💕👍👍👍👍👍👍

Very nice, artistic video!
Thank you! Cheers!
I was just thinking about your videos yesterday and voila! There you are! Enjoyed your wide beam adventure but can’t say I’m brave enough to try it.
Obviously the stars aligned ... as they say. Glad you enjoyed. Can understand what you mean about being brave. Definitely worth trying out a narrowboat first a few times.
We’ve been part of a boat syndicate for several years and nowhere near brave enough for wide beam!
@@bethanyperry5337 can thoroughly recommend it. Feel the fear and do it - as they say
Fun enjoying the widebeam with you!
What a wonderful video , beautiful scenery 😊
Wow, that is luxurious Stan. You were living like a king in this video. Absolutely wonderful. Looked very cozy with that fire and mug of tea. You've made some fantastic memories with this trip.
Great attitude there fella
Great video ❤
I truly like the idea of the wider boat. I believe I could live fulltime on one like that. Wonder about headroom. I'm 6'4".
Hi Stan, thanks for your lovely interpretation of how people can enjoy boating the canals.
I really loved the music you used for this video, is it possible to get a copy of it.
Glad you enjoyed the film - and the music. Sadly, there's no way to get hold of the music. It only exists on the film. cheers
Great stuff, I might become a wide beam fan.
You definitely should! Mind you, they are a bit more tricky to handle than narrow boats.
You can get tiller extentions like on some dingys.
After much research and redesigning, I've decided ( I think, for now... ) on a 57ft x 9ft. Commission the shell for my own fit-out. Seems like that may be the best of both worlds. A 'semi-wide'? Good to see you again Stan and Mike - where's the doggies ????
we went up on our bikes - so couldn't get them onboard... Don't think Mabel was impressed with being left behind...
@@StansHappyHour I'm sure Mabel didn't mind, Stan. She loves her human daddy!
Great to see you back Stan. Wonderful vlog bud.
Thanks. Hopefully, will be some more later in the year (got a motorbike now, so have to share out my spare time) 👍

Some lovely scenery, but shame you didn’t actually do a full tour of the boat - actually showing the bath room and second bedroom.
I just found your channel and you are amazing! New subscriber!
Yay! Thank you! Welcome aboard...
Saltaire is lovely, my aunty's family lived there. 43 Tower Road.
Bet they've got some interesting stories about the place.
I had a grand day out in Saltaire a few years ago. Fascinating place. We visited Salts Mill and learned some interesting local history. A day well spent.
I’m pretty sure I saw you boat today in Rodley lol
how much does the wide beam restrict your waterway access. IE: locks ect ???

Is it ,,10 ft or 12 ft wide ?
Hi Stan I so loved this video and have subscribed..what is the amazing catchy music that supports this film please ..
It's a song I wrote and recorded - which Mike remixed.
And do you get down south with it??...yeh nice having the room but I'd rather do more travelling 😁
I had someone who i don't even think is from England get mad at me because i said England should build half a dozen or so broad boat canals to connect all the different systems that aren't connected so broads can't go from system to system without having to be taken out. Skip to the 10:00 minute mark if you just o see the shots of the boat interior. The first part is mostly just pictures of the guy talking.
Can the Widebean boats go the same places as the narrow boats or are they limited to certain canals?
Great video you have an excellent presenting style .
Looks like a great boat and a lot of fun. Are the canals all one-way? I'm in the US, so I don't know.
Hiya Kevin, nice to hear from you all the way over there in the USA. Canals over here are all two way, apart from a few very rare exceptions - tunnels usually. They have a traffic light system.
How much of the canal network can a wide beam use ?
Whats the length of the boat please?
Curious are there any canals in the UK that the widebeam boat cannot navigate? Or even at this size your able to navigate the entire canal system.
Yes, there are restrictions. Here's a map showing the canals and navigable rivers, broad and narrow: www.lakelandleisureboatsales.co.uk/assets/images/UK-Broad-Beam-Canal-Map.gif hope this helps.
