I'm happy for the guys that made it. They are all deserving. I'm just sad that Khoi had some rough routines during the selection process. I really expected him on the team especially after his performance at the last worlds. I'm also gutted for Donnell. I would have loved to see him make the team!

I am glad that Donnell is sticking around.

Khoi currently is the most decorated with a team bronze and 2 silver world medals. So unless you're just talking Olympics, he has more than Stephen might get in Paris.

Agreed. But he also grossly underperformed at Trials. Using international reputation criteria, he gets a spot. But what’s the point of having a Trials if the final result is ultimately meaningless?

US men should require 1/2 event specialists to add at least 1 - 1.5 more than the non-specialist scenarios. Like why are there strict requirements for all-arounders to be top 3 on 3 events, but there is no requirement for specialists to lock a spot?

If the one event specialist doesn't work out this year, I think something like that may be done or they will adjust the math to make the one event specialist less likely to make it.

@@joyfuljaj It didn't even work out in 2022. They will change but again, not hopeful for good results.

@@cocoroni1031 I wonder how much they expected the "math" to select a one event guy when they wrote the criteria. I'm also hopeful this will be not only Stephen's year but all of them. Everyone struggled at those 2022 World's so I hope everyone can perform to their potential.

23:56 ZBH has not recovered his leg events because of injury (no sign of full recovery). And they put 2 specialists to the team who can barely cover his leg events. So should be much lower than 108. XRT won the all around at Chinese trial. SC had 3 implosions at trial so he can't go despite being the national champ.

I am excited about this team. I was shocked that Asher made the comeback he made and that Yul did not end up making it. However, I knew this was going to be by math, so I was not "upset" at the final team. I think a lot of people responded with emotion. When the math was as close as it seemed to be, there were a lot of combinations of loved athletes who could have made up the team almost equally. I am incredibly nervous though because I have never been so invested in athletes in an Olympics. I watched worlds in real time last year, but I did not watch 2022 in real time, so I didn't have to experience that disappointment with high emotion. I keep having to remind myself the athletes will be okay no matter what happens!

Definitely Old School in believing the Top 5/6 AAers should be the team. They should make another path to Worlds/Olys for specialists. Maybe allow the Team podium from the previous Worlds? Or maybe the Top 4 or 5 to qualify an additional specialist spot as added incentive to being a Top Team.

I'm as excited for the men's team as I am for the women's.

Sending a one routine athlete as opposed to an all-around athlete with medal possibilities on individual events is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen...Maybe if you have a team of 6 but 5...I can give you 4 good reasons why it is stupid- Gabby Douglas, Shilese Jones, Skye Blakely, Kayla diCello,

Brett should have also looked at NCAA results as they were so close to Nationals and the results of an athlete on Olympic team level can give the selection committee a in depth vision of each athletes capacity ust like Women's US Classic.....

Too many people flopped on PH and "the maths" decided. The team is fine, other top teams love the pressure and inconsistency for Asher's VT and Stephen's PH, which the team score highly depends on now.

US men math grade: F and they will change it next time.
