I am just new to mac and using Blender. trying to search how to use numeric because I cant really align my views now. EDIT: It looks like in pereferences->input emulate numpad could do the trick.
A number pad would fit just fine on the 16 inch Mac Book without having to compress anything. But yes, the touch pad would have to move to the left a bit. I use 15 inch Windows laptops with number pads and I prefer it that way.

That's why I didn't use Mac laptops without numeric keyboard 🎹 for engineering working professionals like Autocad 2D 3d Revit Google Sketchup 3ds Max photoshop MS Office users its useless to purchase MacBook
Numpad is so fucking important. The second you try to type in numbers you get cancer because you have to move your hands in a weird way and are very slow.
We’re clearly asking for a number keypad, what do you mean we’re not asking for it? You say they want to improve their current products, this would be an improvement. This video is not good.
This reminds me when I had a dell laptop and had a numeric keyboard and used it a lot. After moving to the MacBook Pro I had the the numbers on top and felt super weird. I’m used to it now but for sure it is nice to have numbers on side. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work
For French people, access to numbers is not direct, you have to hold the Shift key and then type the number. That's why I really hoped a MacBook with a keyboard, but I will probably never see this...
I loved my macbook and when I bought it I didn't care about the number pad being missing because I DJ with it so how important could it be? Yeah I needed it all the time. Wish they would fix that. I don't want to waste ports adding something that every other 15in+ laptop has. Also not a fan of spending more money for less features. But that's apple for you.
I would buy a MacBook immediately if they included a number pad. They wouldn't need to move the trackpad - I currently use a Zenbook with a number pad and the trackpad is in the middle of the chassis (it is offset from the middle of the qwerty keyboard, but this doesn't affect function). Saying that it would affect the refined design is a cop-out and I think they don't realize how many people input numbers all day every day. @Apple Please give us a number pad!
why do you need the numpad? I hate them, is the reason why I don't buy pc's with them I avoid them like the plague. I know how to touch type and I use the num row pretty fast because I use 8 fingers for the numbers vs only 3 with the numpad, besides you can put it in a layer with the fn key, so there is no real reason to put in a numpad for laptops.
It's really silly that Apple doesn't include a num pad, especially on their 15 and 16 inch size laptops. I have one on my windows machine and it is very useful. I've been taking a serious look at switching to Apple but really don't want to add an external keyboard or number pad to have that feature.
at first, i was bothered. but after awhile of usage, the size of the keyboard key is at its best this way without numpad! (or at least personally to me) i also buy extra key tho. and i dont even mind because the extra key i bought really gives me better feeling when i gotta type numbers (which i do a lot for my current job) really give me real satisfaction as if im typing using keyboard on computer. but anyway its up to who is using. but i like it better this way
is the complete opposite my friend, it is really silly to want a numpad, because you don't need them if you know how to touchpad with the numrow above the qwertyuiop keys you can use 8 fingers to type numbers, while the numpad only let's you use 3 fingers. It really is a skill issue. Not even if you type numbers all day you are going to need the numpad. and many laptops have the option of the numpad with the fn key as a layer
because you don't need a numpad. is just a skill issue that you need a numpad. even if you type numbers all day, even more so if you type numbers all day you are wasting your time using a numpad. with the numrow above the qwertyuiop row, you can type all the numbers with touch typing, and using 8 fingers, with the numpad all you use is 3 fingers. All you need is a little training with touch typing and you don't need the numpad.
@@laughingvampire7555 that’s correct .. would have been good if windows also wouldn’t have given the numpad anytime .. and such luxury would have existed 😂
@@laughingvampire7555yes, yes. you’re the best, but some of us mortals still aren’t that perfect and would like a convenient layout rather than just good looks. and it is easier and also faster to use numbers with a numpad (for us regular people, not you of course), regardless what only you say. just admit that you don’t need the convenience as you need the looks/cool factor and leave us alone.
If you don't feel the need for a keypad, it's due to Apple grooming or brainwashing you. I have been using Windows laptops for years, and on a 15.6-inch laptop, it is far easier than trying to find the numbers in a long, thin line. Being used to a keypad is far quicker than the layout above the letters. Thinking it easier is a problem. I use both systems for different reasons. I constantly look for the number pad when word processing on a Windows PC, which is a blessing. Slow and tiring on a Macbook Pro. Writing information on a Macbook with a decent keyboard, pre-2016, is equally a blessing. I typed this on my ASUS Vivobook 15+ inch PC because my Friggin' Apple Macbook Pro 15 inch broke. Oh, you can buy a keypad to connect to your Macbook, Suckers.
Without numeric keyboard 🎹 any laptops for engineering working professionals like Autocad 2D 3D Revit Google Sketchup 3ds Max photoshop MS Office works its useless
I have the opposite opinion to most commenters here. The Numeric Keyboard takes up too much space and ruins the entire aesthetic of the keyboard on many new Windows laptops.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have the option though? I would like a MacBook but I won’t get one because I need this keypad. They’re so worried about symmetry but having to add an accessory is not symmetrical at all. It’s all about options.
the importance of the numpad? what? No, numpad is not important at all. no one really needs it, because it can be a layer in the keyboard, if you think you need the numpad then you have some serious skill issue because you can learn to properly touch type and you can enter any number you want with the numrow using 8 fingers while the numpad you have move the hand away from the home row and then just using 3 fingers to type the numbers you wanna type. With the number row you don't have to move your hand 10 inches to the left, you just extend your fingers up a couple of rows and thats it. numpad = touch typing skill issue. learn touch typing, practice entering numbers and then you will be able to enter numbers faster than you can with the numpad because you will use 8 fingers.

We absolutely need the numerical keypad, the hell are you talking about bruh
As a Blender user the numpad is essential. Apple should include it on 16" models.

Exactly. No need to increase the screen size or anything. Plenty of empty space left on MacBooks 16".
Terrible excuses. Just terrible. It's why they only sell 13% of laptops. Only the minority share. They don't think broad enough.
Wow, why don't you become the CEO of Apple since you know so much? 💀

I tried to connect an external numeric keypad but in excel it would not type the numbers i entered. It just types one number and then it disappeara
i was about to buy a macbook but decided not to because of no number pad. really bad mistake for apple.
For me, Apple can do these:
1) Putting numeric keyboard near to trackpad.
2) Putting numeric keyboard touchable in the trackpad.
For French people, access to numbers is not direct, you have to hold the Shift key and then type the number. That's why I really hoped a MacBook with a keyboard, but I will probably never see this...

At least for 15" & 16" they could have given number pad.
The new Mac is 16” plenty big enough for a number pad.
I agree with Apple’s design choice, having a trackpad that’s off to the side bothers me quite a bit. An example: the Acer Aspire 5
Never ever did I have a problem with it or even notice it.
Just have the OPTION to REPLACE the stupid trackpad with a numpad. I rarely use the trackpad when I have a mouse.
This is the reason I'm not buying macbook. Numeric keypad a must.
So thats the reason why NumPad keyboard are popular back then.
Are there any way to use it?
Why does this video feel sponsored by Apple?
There are apps that can turn your trackpad into a num pad.
