Great video! I was able to knock out front and back brakes courtesy of your great instructions. My first brake job and it really went smoothly thanks to this video. I also swapped the brake wear sensors but had a wear indicator for the front show up about 4 weeks later. I inspected and, of course, found the pads were just fine so I replaced the sensor. The reset procedure (ignition on, press, press, hold, hold, hold) kept coming back with "Unsuccessful" VERY FRUSTRATING! But I found the magic fix on a BMW video. Now, when I jack the car up to work on the front, I chock and set the parking brake for the rear. But, YOU CANNOT RESET THE FRONT BRAKE WEAR SENSOR IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS ON! I shut off the parking brake, tried the reset procedure again, and it cleared immediately. Just an interesting note for those that set the parking brake for a little added security when working off jackstands. Thanks again, man. You saved me big bucks and I learned something! Win-win!

    Great Video and spec data!
I did all four rotors and pads. It was pretty straight forward. Carefully used a single hydraulic jack and did one wheel at a time.
I used Bimmerlink to put parking brake in service mode. You still have to put the calipers back. $29 software and $40 OBD Adapter
Rear Sensor connector is easily accessible, front (drivers side) requires pulling back wheel well trim. 5 Screws and 1 pin were required to be removed.
Rear rotors are removable without removing the bracket. They slide right out after the caliper is removed.
Brake fluid reservoir is under that plastic piece under the hood.

Totally helped me out. This was the first time I ever attempted brake and rotor replacement and didn't get stuck once because of your attention to detail in your instructions which is so important for home mechanics.

1200 bucks the dealership wanted for front breaks only... you saved me a ton of money man. Happy to sub, and hope you keep up the great work!

Thanks. Did my wife's 2013 Countryman S All today. Hardly any rust or issues. One thing, though. The bottom slider pin on the fronts are different from the top one to the bottom one. The bottom one might have a black "silicone" band near the end of the pin bolt. Be sure you put anti-seize lube on the pins. You don't want that black band to ever swell. It will never come out on your next brake job, and you may have to buy a whole new bracket. Anyway, thanks for the video!!

Did you have to loosen the master cylinder cap when compressing the caliber?

Thanks for the great tutorials, very good work and description (given key numbers and tightening force). Will there be more Mini Countryman S movies?

Good video. No need to bleed brakes? I know you didn’t open up the brake lines, but it always seems the pedal isn’t as stiff.

Hey. Based on the uneven wear on the rotor, I think the caliper sliders are stuck. Hopefully your re-greasing will fix that issue!

They rusted on the inside cause the car sat at the dealer without being driven much when i purchased the car. The rotors would get moisture on inside after a rain or something like that and the never dry off. Over time the rust got so bad that the braking started suffer. The slides weren’t frozen at all they moved freely in the hanger.

    Hey Kevin! Great vids!
Hope you can help me out.
I can’t find a tutorial video or pictures of how to change the gas filter and the gas pump on the countryman… the most I found is that the countryman pump is not under the seat as previous minis.
Do you have an idea where they are found ? Txs in advance

Very helpful. Thank you. Can you recommend a good place that compares different brands and materials for pad/rotor combinations? So many choices & it's hard to get an unbiased review. 2016 Countryman S All4 (R60). Thanks again!

I can’t seem to delete the brake sensor code on my countryman. When I delete using a scan tool, I hear a click, then it comes back. I believe the calipers are sticking, too.

Great video. Do you need to change the break wear sensor when changing the pads

Did you determine if you needed to replace the wear sensor? I tried to reuse the sensor and I now can't clear the brake warning light on the dash. I think if the sensor trips causing the dash warning light, the sensor will need to be replaced.

I always change the wear sensors when changing pads. Once a wear sensor makes contact with the rotor they are no longer good

Thanks for the great tutorial and the links in the comments work fine. However, I want to caution people about the FCP Euro website. When I searched for 2016 Mini Cooper Countryman S All 4 it returned the wrong part number. If you press the verify fit button it says the parts only fit 2003 to 2006. Unfortunately, I ended up ordering the wrong parts and now I have to return them.
I want to be clear that this is not an issue with the video or the links you provided. It’s a problem with the FCP Euro website. I had two other people check the website and none of us noticed the verify fit button. Why would a website return a part that doesn’t match the search criteria. Very frustrating. Just wanted to share so others don’t make the same rookie mistake.

Running up against the flanged inner "nut" just now. Had come from passenger side rear. Amazing that the calipers are _that_ _radically_ different. The flange though. That's gotta be some asshole anti-right to repair hurdle nonsense.
There's gotta be a special place in hell reserved for the jerks that designed/signed off on that.
