    You should've shopped the Yamaha dealership in Webster, Florida. They would have saved you thousands for a brand new cart. They are located very close to the southern border of The Villages.

      Thanks for your comment. We did shop the dealership in Webster and we decided to not go with them. It is a good option for some but it was not for us.

    Really liked the Evolution D5 Ranger2+2. 2 problems with it, they discontinued the 205ah battery which brought into play range anxiety. Yes it is real, we have a Chevy Bolt and i can tell you from experience, range anxiety is real. The 2nd thing is they would not allow you to swap out seats. We did not want jet black seats in this FL heat. So, we went back to the old tried and true, Yamaha. Built our own the way we wanted outside of the bubble and saved quite a bit. Just a fyi. the villages golf cars WILL NOT service any cart that is not purchased through them. We have found many issues with their service, so not a big deal.

      Thanks for your comment and that is very interesting about Evolution discontinuing the larger battery. Good call on the seats too! Black is a NO GO! Glad that you found good deal outside the bubble. Now you can cruise The Villages with confidence and a bit more $$.

    Great video but giving a bit more information on pricing like what the ones in your category are going for. I cannot find pricing from most of the retailers around the VIllages. It is one of the few things I am unable to research.

      Thanks so much for your comment and it sounds like you have not arrived to TV yet. You are right, I did not discuss pricing in detail because I chose to focus more on function. I do recommend that you check out a recent video by Gary Abbott. He does a very good run down on various golf cars from different dealers and he does discuss pricing in detail. Hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/Ir89dUfGcUo/v-deo.htmlsi=2Tzc6fVoO6Gp0L7l

    Also consider adding an Apple AirTag (to find your golf cart in the parking lot at the square after dining or listening to the band). Also have one on my car AND my eBike
    All those parking lots are huge and look alike 🙄
    My wife & I walked through THREE parking lots one night after listening to the band.
    That did it for me …
    Ordered Apple AirTags on Amazon the next day

      Excellent idea, thanks so much for sharing, and yes the parking lots can be a challenge. Not sure what it is about Brownwood Paddock Square but I can get turned around there in a heartbeat. The Air Tags are going in the shopping cart.

    Thanks so much for your great work here! Just one thing to mention is that many people who own electric vehicles feel that range anxiety is not really a thing... unless they are travelling long distances. With a golf cart you can do one thing you can't (easily) do with a car... buy a bigger battery. However, I do agree with all your logic and think you made a good choice. Most important is doing your homework for your needs!

    • @thevillagesnatives3491
      @thevillagesnatives3491  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your comment and very keen observation. I looked into one of the electric golf cars but the battery from the manufacturer did not offer an acceptable range for me. I do admit to being over cautious, so personality does impact these decisions. I think that if/when we need another golf car it will be electric. Thanks again and have a great 4th of July.

    How many retailers did you visit before buying your cart from the place you purchased it from? Why did you buy reconditioned? What is that versus used?

    • @thevillagesnatives3491
      @thevillagesnatives3491  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for your comment and great questions. We visited 4-5 retailers including The Villages Golf Cars, Villages Discount Golf Cars, the Yamaha dealer in Webster (I forget their name), and 1 or 2 others. We bought reconditioned because of the warranty as the very slight difference between new and reconditioned. The Yamaha car has changed very little since 2017. Used golf cars come usually with a very small warranty or none at all, depending on who you purchase from. Usually used golf cars are cleaned up and minor problems corrected. Our reconditioned golf car looked brand new. It had every key component upgraded and it looks and performs exactly like a new golf car for less. Hope this helps.

  • @michelleparry7332
    @michelleparry7332 5 місяців тому +3

    Just a curious question as a possible future resident. Does your cart have shoulder straps as part of the seat belts? If not, can those be upgraded on golf carts? I notice in some videos that certain golf carts lanes merge in with car traffic. I think I would feel safer with shoulder belts. Thanks.

    • @thevillagesnatives3491
      @thevillagesnatives3491  5 місяців тому +4

      Thanks and that is a great question. The Evolution D5 Ranger 4 seater does have the three point seatbelts, and actually I think Michael and Tiffany with The Villages Experience UA-cam channel purchased one of those and a big reason was the shoulder seatbelts. They did a few videos on their purchase and seem very happy with it. In many areas here golf cars ride alongside traffic on main roads (30 mph or less) and within neighborhoods we ride with the traffic. Hope this helps!

    Hello I enjoyed your video and may I ask how much did you pay and since this video any new pros or cons? I’m still undecided between Yamaha or Evolution 🙏🏼

    • @thevillagesnatives3491
      @thevillagesnatives3491  22 дні тому

      Hi and thanks for your encouraging comments and questions. The Yamaha has held up great and we love the CarPlay and soundbar feature. I see more and more Evolution cars; they provide a ton of amenities for the price and time will tell on their longevity. I am not sure if the warranty situation has changed in the last year, but I would check the various dealers in the area and drive one if I were in the market today. The list price on my golf cart was about $19k; I offered $15k and we settled on $16.5k. In hindsight I wished I would have gone lower initially but I am happy with the value and performance of our purchase. Are you moving to TV soon? Hope this helps.

      Congratulations on your new home! I did not consider the Star because of pricing but I believe it is the most reliable electric golf car from reading and the reviews that I have seen. My friend Paul bought one and he is thrilled. He and his golf car are in the video we recently released highlighting Fine Designs Golf Car Graphics. Check it out and let me know if you would like to communicate with Paul. I am sure he would be more than happy to dialogue with you.

    Your golf car is alot like what I had in mind for us. We haven't had a chance to start shopping for them. My question is how long is your golf car front to the back bag holder? I'm not sure our garage has enough depth in the golf car space.

    • @thevillagesnatives3491
      @thevillagesnatives3491  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your comment and great question. Our Golf Car is 112 inches (9 ft, 4 in.) long and our Golf Car Garage, which is one of the shortest in depth, is 158 inches (13 ft., 2 in.), so plenty of room for our car. I have not seen a model that would not accommodate our Golf Car, but that might be possible. What model home do you have? Hope these dimensions help, and let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great 4th of July.

      @@thevillagesnatives3491 I only just now saw that you responded to my comment in July. I never saw a notification. Anyway, we ordered a Yamaha Quiettech reconditioned 2F+2R from the Villages Golf Cars. Now we just have to get back to pick it up now that it's in. Many reasons we went with The Villages Golf Cars including convenience, reputation and trust. The one we got is a little different from yours in that our rear seat and the foot platform fold out of the way. That was big for us because living in an older home with a 1 1/2 car garage when we don't need to seat 3 or 4, we can fold it making it fit in the garage better. Height of the cart was also important because some of the closest tunnels to us are also the shortest, as well as the overhead door clearance in our older home. Oh and we got the highest upgrade to the seats, the Texas Sportster, because it has a split bench and when I'm driving, I can move the seat up so that I'm not straining my leg reaching the peddle for an extended time. I found that to be an issue when we had rental carts. Being in the northern section, range anxiety is real of you want to explore all over the Villages so that is why we went with gas. Hopefully we'll run into some time in the Villages. We'll be in a red, white and blue cart.

    Trivia Q: Is it golf cart or golf car??? Have to ask 'cuz I wanna talk like a Village native 😅😊!!! Your new ride is beautiful❤❤. (Hmmmm, I wonder if MWR will have a surplus sale 😅😅😅 It is probably the only one we can afford😅😅)

      Thanks so much and our answer is: Golf Car, well according to our dealer and The Villages Golf Car Store. I see them as interchangeable but here they are treated much more like a personal transportation vehicle and golf usage seems to be secondary in my observation. When you get here get what you can afford when it is right for you. I see quite a bit of older golf cars and they get folks to the same places that the new ones do. MWR Surplus Sale, most definitely! A golf cart , is more geared for driving around the golf course,
      With equipment needed for a round of golf..ie,
      Bag holder on back , drink holder, sand bottle , ball holder, scorecard
      ,holder ..etc. A golf car.. more geared for driving on cart paths, neighborhood roads etc, and the equipment package is more safety friendly, upgraded lighting, seats, seatbelts, turn signals, etc…🛺

    I enjoy watching most of the videos people make about golf carts, But yours stinks, you stumble around trying to find your words. Also reconditioned is still a used cart. I bought a used Yamaha G2 and went thru it mechanically and added lights and all the safety equipment to make it street legal. PTV is a personall transport vehicle, and a seperate class that you can get from most manufacturers.
