MUST SEE The Worst Thanksgiving Meal EVER !!! MRE REVIEW Turkey And Gravy ......
Military mess food is my Thanksgiving meal of choice, I always hit up a mess hall if I can, best feeling ever sitting in a half empty mess hall eating on a holiday. it's always been like that, I volunteered for holiday duty all the time so others could go home :) My home was the base LOL.
I wonder how good that mre was when it was fresh.
I'm not sure how appetising reformed turkey would have been, though..
Interesting review lol :)
Storage is key,20 years gone bad ,not suprised.
If the artificial grape drink is bad you know that nothing else is still edible. Fruitcake would have lasted longer than that cake.
The word "an" is a thing.
Back when it was fresh, this was likely a good meal. Darned shame, but it's 22 years old. 😫
A can of diced turkey meat and fresh crackers would be fine dining compared to this.
Yes, at the end of your review, your rant of US MREs. I agree.
I was over at Balad Air Base in Iraq in 2004 for "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and that was the time this MRE was available and yes, I ate it many times. So you are correct with the date. Good guess, sir!
It's sad that we have the worst MREs
Nah I think that award goes to China
Definitely in the bottom 5 of any revues I've seen.
made by the lowest bidder!
Smells like paint I laughed my ass off! 😆
Happy Thanksgiving! Your remodel is going great! I really liked how you've done it. Thanks for the review, take care guys.
Holy Crap! A $6000 camera! Thanks for the attention to detail.
Happy Thanksgiving to you Nathan and Phil as well as your families. Stay safe and warm
I like the fake grill marks on the turkey lol. Happy Thanksgiving btw!
Mcturkey marks
They’re actually painted or branded on with something like liquid smoke
Lmao I wouldn't even give that to my dog's
That turkey and taters might be made by the same people that make prison meat rock
Yay, YT actually notified me of this video after burying them for weeks. Eating that would be your last Thanksgiving.... Cheers
Happy Thanksgiving to you too I sure do enjoy your videos and everything you I see is not edible. Cannot wait for your more videos keep up the good work and I do subscribe to your channel. And you're right the government needs to make a better MRE for our troops.
Howdy Nathan. Rations this old, are tricky, as you well know. Been A long time since I have seen orange pound cake, dang. I have bad luck with, FRH'S, old and new. I just boil these days. New lot, I just obtained, I will try them. Coffee, was to be expected, as you already knew. The cold drink, I had hopes for. I figured, 50-50 chance on the main and the cheese. Pound cake failed as well? It seems, you have not had the greatest turkey meal, ever produced. I know the Aroma, Of French nougat bars well. Not pleasant. Got A new RCIR here to try soon, when issues resolve. Long story. Your Next meal, will be better. Peace, John, from Kentucky. We need to shoot the bull sometime. Need me yell.
Well, if you want your US MRE rations to remain barely edible, keep them in the freezer, also, Lighthouse brand toilet paper, "The paper for where the sun don't shine!"... :P
Thank you Nathan. If you eat that the vaccine will save you. 😂😂😂😅😅😅
Nice review Nathan
maybe that thing sat in an Arizona garage for its whole life
That mre was stored in a porta potty.😂😂😂
Happy Thanksgiving Nathan. 👍
No, the salt doesn't always work. If the heater is too far gone it's just not gonna work. Salt helps with older ration heaters that are not too far gone (less than 10 years old). It's still a good idea to put salt in the heater but it is no guarantee. I used to think those heaters were really cool but now I hate them. They are SO finicky and sometimes you get ones that don't work well and take forever to heat up and others go from cold water to BOILING in 10 seconds flat. The older they are, the less effective they are. Just one year can make a huge difference. They make a mess too, leaking water everywhere which makes these weird stains and they kinda stink. I started using a mess kit with a folding Esbit stove and fuel tablets. Heats the food up much faster and is a guarantee every time. You really need fire to make proper coffee anyway. Gotta buy fuel tablets tho which aren't too expensive.
Also, I must say that MREs have come a long way in terms of appearance and taste as well as items included to increase morale and comfort. However, these older rations are often unfairly judged. It smells bad and tastes nasty? You don't say! It's only 20 years old! What do you expect? When would a person EVER eat something that old? And the US military replaces and rotates these every 5 years. Back in 2000-2005 it probably would have been fine. All the MREs I have eaten are all newer but I've enjoyed every single one. Some I like more than others, but I've never had one that was so bad I didn't eat it. Food preservation technology has gotten much cheaper and more readily available in recent years, which is why the quality of MRE food has gone up in general. Also, about government funding, pennies add up FAST in quantities of millions. 3 cents may have added a lot to the meal, but x3,000,000 rations is an extra $90,000. I do agree that for as much money as the US government spends on defense, some extra money should go into higher quality food. However, the veterans I know (some of my friends and family) never really ate these. They always had fresh cooked meals at bases or camps. Or on a ship. MREs were always nearby, usually in a tent somewhere in boxes on a pallet and were available if you wanted, but were never really required to be consumed. These are designed to be carried on short missions and only eaten for a few days. I don't know if other veterans have had a different experience, but these MREs are not representative of the main diet of a US soldier and the ones I've eaten were pretty good. I would take a Menu 24 southwestern beef and beans or a chicken burrito bowl over fast food any day!
I expected it to be, well, edible. But it makes sense that it wouldn't since it's 20 years old. Then again, isn't that what Thanksgiving is all about? (No, it's not). Happy Thanksgiving.
Steve1989 would be disappointed Nathan. lol Nice hiss...........
This ration is rank, you would have ended up in hospital had you eaten that one. maybe it went to the sandbox and back again. Twice.
In basic 1974 I ate can C rats from 60s,tasted great, but I was starved.Canned is so much more weight and bulk.
I’m sorry Karen. You asked the question “What do I know?” The answer: “You don’t.”
MRE tubers keep making short - too short of videos this year. Good to see the same ol' Nathan.
I ate MRE’s for years. Taste is ok especially with hot sauce
Thank for showing Ol' Nasty.... 😆
22 years this days.. 348 of 365 its this period
Tobasco is probably the safest thing
I wonder if Steve would have eaten it? Lol
Steve would drink the coffee.
Aha an MRE Horror review lol.
Thanx for the vid nathan!
happy thanksgiving
I said 99 lol
Thank you for the video. And I agree Sopakco and Wornick should take note on how the French make their MRE's. Of course, minus the paint thinner nougat bar.
Brave man
If those bowls are anchor brand, we bought a set about four years ago and they are still like new even with continuous use
...BON APPETITE
am almost 25 years us MRE ? NOPE I WILL NEVER EAT THAT
