  • The Greenheart TreeWalk will spark your adventurous spirit as you navigate suspended walkways and tree platforms high above the forest floor. Located in the heart of UBC Botanical Garden, the 310 metre-long tree top canopy walkway hangs from huge Douglas firs, cedars and grand firs, many of which are over 100 years old. Reaching a height of nearly 20 metres above the forest floor, the walkway will give you a bird’s eye view of Vancouver’s magnificent coastal temperate rainforest.
Make your way from platform to platform at your own pace or have a knowledgeable guide take you on a fascinating tour. At the peak of your experience you will be 23 metres above the forest floor on a towering viewing platform from which you can take in the sights and sounds of the forest.
The Greenheart TreeWalk at the UBC Botanical Garden is a treetop canopy walkway over temperate rainforest in the heart of Vancouver, an aerial trail system that allows people to journey through the upper parts of the forest. Its structure enables visitors to explore the flora and fauna that thrives in this lofty environment.
Greenheart’s approach is to provide access to the canopy with minimal impact on the trees or habitat. Unlike other treetop canopy walkway systems bolted into the trees, the Greenheart TreeWalk’s design and engineering does not damage the trees or the surrounding delicate ecosystem. Using an innovative cable tension system, the platforms are hung from the trees without the use of nails or bolts. With features such as the “Tree Hugger” cable system and “Kissing Bar” stabilizing device, it is easy to see how the walkway is a special addition to the forest landscape.
