For not hitting the car next to you when opening your own car's door, I always open the door very slowly when that risk exists. In that way, if the door hits the other car, then so gently that there will be no damage.
I think the point may be that this technique - being aware of relative positions such as the door handle in the mirror - can be very useful indeed. Of course the details will vary from vehicle to vehicle etc, but the useful principle is well demonstrated.
The very minimum this video tutorial teaches is: One. Find the cheat that works for your seat position and your vehicle, and use it to save damage to your self your vehicle or somebody else or their vehicle. Two. Many folks are not taught that similar simple tricks or shortcuts exist in all life circumstances. Three. One simply needs to become aware of such tricks, and then use them for themselves in their own set of circumstances. Thank you sir, for opening my eyes. I am a truck driver in the US and use all kinds of tricks to safely Park, Drive, and maneuver my 75 foot tractor-trailer.
This is 100% wrong. If you adjust your side mirrors as recommended here you will have your side mirrors and rear view mirror almost completely overlapping in coverage. To prove this, go sit in your car in a parking lot and look at your mirrors. Your side mirrors will be showing you the same cars as your rear view mirror. 99% of people make this mistake because it is intuitive to line your mirrors up with the side of your car, but this creates a blind spot. To eliminate this blind spot push your side mirrors outward until they don’t quite overlap the view from your rear view. Now you will see as you drive as a car passes alongside you it will appear in your rear view mirror, then your side mirror, then as it’s leaving your side mirror it will appear in your peripheral vision. You will never need to turn your head to look behind you with this method.
Or buy those tiny add-on mirrors that you stick to each side mirror and adjust it to eliminate that blind spot from each side mirror itself. It will cost next to nothing.
Never understood people who have to see their own car in their side mirrors. It’s not going anywhere. But that car to the side and slightly behind you sure is…
But not every person is of the same height. Mirror settings will vary depending on the height of the person. What will work for one person will not work for another person. Also cars are very different and some of the tips given in this video do not work when you're parking next to a HGV.
Right? Nissan Zs have vertical, almost hidden door handles, the Dodge Viper has it on the actual frame. Good luck to your insurance if you ever hit one of those
What if your car has flat door handles? Destroys 75% of your theories straight away. What if the doors on your car are bigger than your BMW? Again, blows your theory out of the water. As it was mentioned in another comment, what works for you in your car may not work in another! BUT, good on you for noticing what works best for you, most people don't even know where their car can fit, let alone being able to reverse park.
Actually your side view mirrors should be adjusted to eliminate blind spots beside you so if they are adjusted properly you won’t actually be able to see the side of your car without leaning to one side or the other
Correct. And you will notice that there is an overlap area between each side mirror and the extreme edges of the rear view mirror if you do this. That way, there is never a spot that you can't see behind you in your mirrors.
Everything you said is a load of crap. I mean perhaps it works on a few specific model vehicles, if you are of average height (9.85 bananas tall), and mirrors adjusted in an exact way, but this in no way applies to all vehicles or even a marginal fraction of them. Where I'm from, they teach you to turn your head and literally look behind you. If you're too lazy or disabled to do that, you probably shouldn't be driving in the first place.
When your car is parked do a walk-around to check all door handles if there is a coin inserted in gap of door handle. Criminals do this so they can wait for the owner to leave then come back to open car door without in some cases even setting off alarm. Also watch out for plastic water bottles stuffed into wheel well space. Criminals do this so when you start your car and drive you hear a loud grating noise and think something is wrong with the tire, you stop the car get out to look at what's wrong, then the person sneaks up and jumps in the car idling and drives away.
Surely, lining up the door handlw withthe bonnet of your car, depends on the hight of your own card bonnet? For example, if you are in a low sports car, the door handle in front will never line up with your bonnet, and you will end up driving into it lol
Here’s an unrelated but useful rearview mirror tip. When pulling a trailer no matter what semi boat camper snowmobile and you need to back up. Especially useful for ramps or backing into garages or between other vehicles. Place your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. And do not remove it. Do not change position of your hand on the wheel. And moving the wheel from the bottom 6 o clock position to the left the trailer will go left. From the bottom to the right the the trailer will go right.
0:17 - 0:24 It's better to adjust both outside mirrors so you don't have any blindspots. You don't need to see what's directly behind you from the side mirrors.
Utter Nonsens! These so called tricks might apply to a small part of drivers+their cars, but selling these as universal ist the usual ridiculous clickbait, YT will be famous for! Every driver has to figure out these thumb rules vor his personal seat position, mirror setting and car model, especially wegen going reverse, as most cars have a narrower rear axis/width =individual kinematic.
On the last one, you assume the position of the one holding the camera to see if the alignment of the door handle and the window, Isn't this suppose to be the driver's POV? STUPID?
Totally useless, not all cars and no truck can use this method. Fron and rear overhangs vary. You must test and observe your car and sight lines. Over the yrs you learn this, every vehicle is differemt and parking backing and all moves have to adjust to what you drive. I drive different vans and trucks for a living, my daily car is 4 door sedan. I have to adjust many times a day to all these issues as all vehicles differ in length, height and width. No one rule fits them all.
I don’t know what those babbling will do when they can’t be the “HOA” of social site to tell them what they say or do is wrong. They’re ALL coming down soon!
This is ridiculous. Run a comparison with a 6 foot 5 person and a 5 foot 5 person and see if the results are the same. Big chance the shorter person will hit every obstacle before the door handle lines up as described. And different cars are different lengths, heights which also varies the results. Stupid
Typical VW. All cars seem to come from the factory with at least one nonworking light. Seems like the driver's reverse light is out on his car, at least that's what it looked like to me.
This is one of the dumbest things ive ever seen and will definitely cause people to hit things. Not all vehicles share the same dimensions. This is more evidence giving everyone a platform was a bad idea.
When you can no longer see the door handle of the car perpendicular to the front of your car, you must always press the throttle pedal as hard as you possibly can.
I always did this on feeling and sight without help. But seeing the driver is Asian, he definitely needs all the help he can get 😆 🤣 😂. But in all seriousness, good tips, especially for lesser drivers. Gonna send this video to moms. Edit: damn it, after reading the comments, I've decided not to send this vid to mom.
This won’t be applicable for all car types and also can vary based on seat height adjustment and persons seting postures.
Not to mention height difference. Short people will not have the same POV as a tall person
* sitting postures
@Adam not true. Only Tesla has them currently. And if you own a Tesla, well….
Right. Not all individuals are equal heights when they sit.
That’s the 6th secret: the door handle tricks don’t always work.
For not hitting the car next to you when opening your own car's door, I always open the door very slowly when that risk exists. In that way, if the door hits the other car, then so gently that there will be no damage.
Thank you for being thoughtful of others property! Speaks volumes about you.
@@audio3980 Thanks 🙂
I always open slowly as well as put my hand on the edge of my door so I'll feel the next car before the door even touches it
That's even more careful 🙂
I always grab the door by the edge at the most prominent part so that if something hits the neighbor it's my hand, not the door.
And here's why they say we Asians cant drive.. cuz we learnt it from this guy. Smh. 🤣
Allthis applies to one specific person in one specific car. Change any variable, and none of it applies anymore.
只是用跟个别的人在个别的车。
Lesson learned: don't learn driving through UA-cam

True wisdom! Knowledge is the potential, but applied knowledge is the power! Thanks 🌞🌞🌞🙏🙏🙏
😎👆 Adjust accordingly,
car & driver's dimensions vary
Precisely - replying simply that 'this won't work on all vehicles' is missing the point entirely!
Protip: save a link to this video for your insurance company. I’m sure they’ll agree that it wasn’t your fault!

Depends on your height, sitting position and the dimensions of your car.
Should I use the same exact mirror adjustments for my side view mirrors if I’m 5’5
The saddest thing is there are a lot of people who will believe these lies
This is true because every single car ever produce has had the exact same dimensions and the handle is always located in exactly the same place.
Good point sir. 😂 Rotfl.

@@williamgeardener2509 It looks like my sarcasm was not blatant enough.
@@souldreamer9056 Indeed it wasn't. Try harder next time.
Those babbling show know that this is just a guide, an inspiration to get your own reference points to achieve what you want when driving.
Exactly! All these nah sayers think they’re the “HOA” of these social sites & it’s their job to find fault in everything ppl say & do!
Don't think these are applicable on all cars (hatchback, sedan, suv, vans, etc.) in every country
Most of that only works with certain cars. If I relied on this I would do damage to a lot of cars!
How about sports cars with door handles in the bodywork?
Right? Nissan Zs have vertical, almost hidden door handles, the Dodge Viper has it on the actual frame. Good luck to your insurance if you ever hit one of those

Also when overtaking other vehicles if your mirror falls off try leaving more of a gap.
Fantasy video.
This will not be effective with all cars

Total bollocks.

Is your videos applicable to right hand steering wheel cars used in India
Bruh, this is applicable only to his height and his car. It doesn't apply to all cars.
Ya find it, I didn't find good view using this
in india you just slam the car bhai

I feel like someone found the video and didn't understand the original language but then dubbed in their own dialog anyways.
This will not work in Texas 😂
Thank you for the video!
I’m sure it’s helpful with less trucks around.
As if every car is the same......
I'd gave given you a thumbs up if this was in landscape.
Do you turn your tv on it's side to watch it?
Only for sedan cars. But, nonetheless. Brilliant content.
UA-cam needs to filter out such videos
The most stupid thing ever 😅
That might be perfect for your height, but what about someone like Larry Byrd or Kareem Abdul Jabar. This will not work for every driver.
Most of what i 'learnt' here doesn't work on any of my 3 cars, none of which are more than 5 years old - How disappointing !! 😅🙄
People have different height different seat adjustments and different car heights.. wont work
So dumb... car? truck? suv? length, height, driver height, seat height, should I go on? DO NOT FOLLOW THESE BAD TIPS FOLKS!

This guy gives useless information references points don't work
When I had driving lessons the instructor used different parts of the car for reference when manoeuvring. It's a good method. Thanks for the video.
Kindly explain little slowly...you are very fast and people may not even understand what you are telling....thnx
Typical VW. All cars seem to come from the factory with at least one nonworking light. Seems like the driver's reverse light is out on his car, at least that's what it looked like to me.
No. 1. Always keep both hands on the wheel instead of this lazy American habit of using just one. It is failure when on test.
Not all cars have handles like that though
1. You need to speak slower so we can align your words with what’s going on in the video
2. All cars are different so alignments will vary.
Tips that I've always done, it's called using your common sense which sadly most people don't possess any more.

Well I luv thus channel, it's sort of food for thought! It's not a 1 fit, fits all! And slow down!!😅

When you can no longer see the door handle of the car perpendicular to the front of your car, you must always press the throttle pedal as hard as you possibly can.
This is absolutely false for most vehicles, this guy has only driven Toyota corollas and Honda civics
Speaking a bit more slowly than in a hurry will be useful. Otherwise we are hearing only bell gongs.
not all cars have door handles like what you just mentioned...what now...
Is this the same guy who tried to tell us that you could open your power windows from the outside with sticky tape?
Errr no... every car type door is different in height and length. So.. no..
Why is there an overdubbed announcer for this video, obviously not the voice of the man in the video?
I did the side view mirror thing on my car and now I see why _"they"_ have so many car accidents 🤦🤦🤦
Gee,I may be stupid but isn't that a function of the MIRROR?
That just work for your car. Not for my car.
It’s interesting but all a bit motormouth………slow down.
I tried this and totaled my car. My lawyer will be contacting you.
What is music name of this video???
I'm not taking driving tips from any Asian
I would imagine it would be different for different cars.
What works for Honda civic won't work for Ford f150
Don’t think it will work with my large van 😂

But in all seriousness, good tips, especially for lesser drivers. Gonna send this video to moms.
