So I obviously meant what I said, and still do. She is truly remarkable.
Anecdotal experience time... : I have a friend/ acquaintance of sorts. He's a cool dude or was way back when in like middle school... As we grew up this poor guy (man now) lost friend after friend. (3-6 in the span of three years i'd say.... 4 died in a car accident together). He then lost his brother who was only 2 years younger than him. He then later lost a son and a grandbaby shortly thereafter (within the span of less than 2 years) I believe. .... He just celebrated 9 years sober and he went through the last two horrific tragedies and is still sober. This man is barely mid thirties and he dealt with the most devastating types of loss and yet doesn't justify drinking, or doing substances to null or numb the pain (almost justifiably so) he would be toiling over sober. It's incredible to see because most, including myself possibly would crumble under that heavy of a lifelong burden.

      @MariaAnderson-Smith Місяць тому +12

U are 100% right. U can see it in her face how much she loved him and how she was taking the blame because she didn’t want him in trouble. When u are controlled like she seemed to be, you are so far gone with your self worth that you will do anything to be with your abuser. Because they can heal you temporarily, at least u feel that way . They give u what u desperately want, their love and affection, then take it away with vengeance. And the cycle repeats. The police could have taken her from him but she very likely would have found her way back to him. I know because that’s what I did. Now maybe Gabbie wouldn’t have gone back and been stronger than most abused woman. But statistically, it’s unlikely 😢

I get that the police in this case didn’t follow protocol and the outcome was tragic. However, had they arrested Gabby, which is who would’ve been arrested based on the evidence, she would’ve been released the following morning with a court date. Nothing about that would’ve saved her life. There was something wrong with his mentality.
Those police officers showed mercy to a young couple having a dispute on a road trip. Having them demonized for being kind is such a reflection of current society’s inability to look at an entire situation. Instead, we crucify those that are placed in a position that they must face these things daily. Gabby’s closest friends and family didn’t see the dangers.
Utah police are probably the nicest officers you’d ever meet. Had the outcome been different those officers would’ve been praised for there good deeds. Let’s blame the one responsible, Bryan is the one to blame.

      You might be right.
A police record would not have helped them either although I grieve for Gabbys family and friends.
I am married to a narcissist sociopath. It has been an ongoing education. It was counseling that helped me see what I was up against. When we are in grief at this senseless tragedy we can assume other steps would have made the difference.
I do believe Brian Laundres family are the ultimate enablers. It is possible that they should face some kind of charges.
However it has been my experience that the more I tried to fix the situation with my husband the worse it became. I wish part of the equation was not someone being charged. It is possible that would have escalated a really dangerous situation with them being on the road. With her not knowing the danger she was in I am not convinced that other approaches would have had better results. She really needed good counseling to let her know the danger she was in a place where it was not available.
I am not 100 percent sure of this.
I remember the blame game I did in my relationship. It was a long journey that took decades to play out and counseling.

    • @bluebonnetbunny4813
      @bluebonnetbunny4813 Місяць тому +3

It’s also so easy to “Monday Morning Quarterback” the officers. We have the full story and can look back with shoulda, coulda, woulda.
After all Gabby told the cops that she hit first. Laundrie said he grabbed her face causing a scratch.
The cops were formally investigated. They got written up for not making a more complete report and for not contacting 911 operators. Unfortunately, even with calling for 911 account, the eye witness said “To be fair, he (Brian) pushed her”. Not quite the hitting that was first reported. That correlated with Brian’s statement to
to the cops. The Report about cop’s actions also said that an arrest or citation should have been given to Gabby. If arrested she would have been released the next day.
There is another factor that plays a part and probably wouldn’t happen today. We now know that social media creators often put out a sanitized, upbeat view into their lives. Today police most likely would question Gabby a little differently since we have some highly visible cases of the woman k*lled like Alexis Sharkey, Badd Barbie, Trey Slesser (Mr. Anime) and so, so many more.

When a man diminishes a woman's comments and behaviors as 'crazy,' he is saying that she is not worth listening to because she is unstable. Signs would be if she was saying he didn’t hit her or didn’t mean to. She hit him. And she hit first. I don’t care how frustrated she was, hitting somebody is not the way to deal with it. This can explain why when it comes to domestic violence or abuse in school the investigation would hire a psychiatrist to speak to the victim. At time we tend to gaslight ourselves when the enemy/abuser is someone whom we are supposed to rely on or love or trust.

@@minini5571 I dont believe that anyone said that they were “procedurally correct”; the post says that they did a great job. An “independent investigation” would find procedural violations on a large percentage of police interactions, especially domestics. Following the exact law and procedure in the Moab incident results in Gabby going to jail (as she admits that she was the primary and initial physical aggressor). Judge then has the option to put a protection order in place. That leaves Gabby halfway across the country from home, and can’t ride home with Brian whenever she is released from jail. These are the practical elements that police have to consider and balance in real time. The police are required to use common sense and discretion in a case by case basis. So sad RIP. Why is it that some people think nothing of someone else's life, and they just end it as if it is nothing. Praying for her mother.

Ma’am (Alana) I say to you you’re lucky. He’s been a great guy with you, but down the road if / when you find yourself wanting to leave him thats the time you’ll find out what he’s capable of.. You owe police and Laurie a world of gratitude..

This man is a walking red flag 😳
    He's a monster.
    He absolutely 💯 did this!
He very conveniently came up with all kinds of excuses years later... especially accusing his poor mom of s£X ual abuse! I'm sorry, but no, I don't believe him at all! In all those years, he never said a word to anyone? Not until he needed an excuse 🙄
I'm so grateful the jury got this one right 🙏
He is right where he belongs!
His girlfriend is ridiculous, too. I can't muster up any sympathy for her either. She's suffering from willful ignorance.
    Bless this family ❤
    The mom broke my heart!
I'm sending all my prayers & love to her!
    ❤❤❤

Victims are allways described by their relatives and friends as the best person ( comprehensibly ) but Gabby Petito sweetness exude from the screen
and you can no more imagine to hurt a girl like that than to hurt a baby

As a survivor of DV for over 10 years and Gabby’s story breaks my heart. She was to pretty for him. The first story my God I feel so bad for the mother. I lost my mom at 17, dad at 18, a brother in 85, a brother in 2010 and recently my sister I honestly can never understand the loss of a kid and my heart breaks for her. I’m glad she got justice.

While they were looking for Gabby,>finally was able to go no-contact. It's been 3 years now. One day, he said something very evil, i had the thought "i will live the rest of my days in a psych ward or this man is going to beat me to death with his bare hands". The was my last thought before i grabbed my purse & walked out without saying a word. . I had been trying to leave for 13 years and he would come get me & bring me back, sometimes nicely, sometimes not. God saw fit that he left me alone finally. Thank you Gabby. God bless you and your family. I'm so sorry for her mother. What a beautiful girl Gabby was!

The police should have never took their eyes off of him after he killed his mother and stepdad. That young lady would have been alive today if he hadn't of been set free. That's so sad that her mother couldn't even given her daughter a proper burial. He could at least told the police where her body was. 😢 I hope her and Peanut are in heaven with Jesus together and I hope she's with her dad and brother too. Her poor mother. She has been through a lot. God bless her. I'm so sorry for her loss and the stepsister's that lost their dad too. 😢❤❤❤

The first time I ever saw a picture of Gabby, beyond her stunning looks, her beautiful soul was shining through - she was radiant. I could see that she was kind, compassionate, caring, empathetic and I could go on and on. I had no idea who she was or what the story was about, but I instantly felt a sense of peace and I smiled at her picture and thought that her family and friends were extremely blessed to have her in their lives and I wished that I knew her. I’ve never had such a strong visceral reaction and it was instantaneous. I’m not sure why just seeing her photo caused such a flood of intense emotions in me. I intuitively felt like I could connect with her on a spiritual level. Y’all probably think I sound nuts, but that’s what I felt and then to realize why her picture was being shown was heartbreaking. It was when she went missing and unfortunately I immediately knew she wasn’t of this world anymore. I often wonder if my immediate reaction to seeing her was because I was seeing an angel. The warmth and love and graciousness and light were emanating from her image and it gave me such a sense of peace. I don’t think I’m doing a very good job trying to describe this. I do feel like her death is a devastating loss to all who knew and loved her and an absolute injustice to all of the people she would’ve gone on to meet if she’d had a chance to live. I know she would’ve touched them deeply. God bless Gabby and her family and all of her loved ones. I hope you all find peace. ❌⭕️ ❤

The police can seperate you but its your responsibility to leave abusive relationships. Its Not the governments responsibility to know if your family member is in an abusive relationship.

In my opinion, the justice system failed. This could've been prevented 100%!! I understand it's different//difficult when it comes to minors. But, Lori's death was preventable!! Her poor Mama. Breaks my heart. She had so much more life to live.
Sending so much love to Lori's family, friends and loved ones. Peanut too!!
    ❤❤❤
Rest easy and fly so high Lori!!

Gabby clearly was being abused by Brian. He told her what to say (& to take the blame) before they were pulled over by the cops. I know because I've been in a similar relationship in the past. I can't believe the cops did not have the sensitivity or experience to realise that. They were compassionate but failed to do their job properly and actually protect the victim.

It's a very sad shame that Allie can't just let it go. Let him go. She's certainly got a lot to offer the right young man. She just has these unnecessary attachment to the really wrong guy.
